Marsdinho Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 Anyone see "I am spazticus" last night. Its on channel 4 at the same time as MOTD2. I honestly didn't know whether or not I should laugh, or cringe. Some of the humour is a bit close to the mark, but I think the whole point of it is to challenge people's views on disabled people, or to pick fun out of the reactions disable people get from the rest of society. Some of the clips were hilarious, the identity parade, the parachutist and the blind man taking back a dildo, were particularly funny.
Wade Garrett Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 I thought this was going to be a thread about Ian Dury.
Bearsy Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 I want to watch this but I can't find it on 4od! Someone help a brother out!
Spudders Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 it's nots on ODs Bearsys, but the next episode is on tv tonights http://www.channel4.com/programmes/im-spazticus
hypochondriac Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 Clearly done with channel 4 being the paralympic broadcaster and all that. May have a gander though.
scotty Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 I thought this was going to be a thread about Ian Dury. Me too. "Dury's 1981 song "Spasticus Autisticus"—written to show his disdain for that year's International Year of Disabled Persons, which he saw as patronising and counter-productive" Ian Dury, RIP. He took no prisoners with his lyrics, very sadly missed.
Marsdinho Posted 20 August, 2012 Author Posted 20 August, 2012 Think last nights episode is repeated tonight on channel 4 at 10:35
Hatch Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 Not sure what to make of it, the ID parade had me looking through my fingers.. It was funny , but I felt bad . When he pretended to be ****ed and the real cerebal palsy bloke was laughing at him was terrific.
Noodles34 Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 regardless of agenda etc. it was just not that funny.
