hypochondriac Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 According to Nixon, we have/are close to making a move for David Goodwillie. Should be easy, as Blackburn want rid. Seems every inch a panic buy, that one. (if it happens, of course). Very disappointed if we sign him TBH (though obviously will give him a chance to see how he does.)
S-Clarke Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Very disappointed if we sign him TBH (though obviously will give him a chance to see how he does.) I think it's just agent/player talk though. Not sure why Nixon is giving it air time.
Webby Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 If we signed Goodwillie, where would he play? He's a striker isn't he? We already have RL, BS, JR and TL already competing for the one striker position that our 433 offers.
sotonist Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 According to Nixon, we have/are close to making a move for David Goodwillie. Should be easy, as Blackburn want rid. And they'll take Lambert in part ex i suppose.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Lessons to be learnt from Everton and Newcastle - they have picked up some real bargains last couple of years! Everton Pienaar 4.5m Jelavic 5m Gibson 1.5m
Saint Scott Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 I'd like to see us take Joe Cole on, get him saints fit and he could thrive. Loan deal possible or cheap buy I would imagine. Doesn't seem to be getting a sniff at Liverpool, 17 year old sterling is starting ahead of him and second choice downing today.

ART Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Read today Rodgers at Liverpool is ready to let Joe Cole go as Cole doesn't feature in his plans. He's the type of older player that might fit in very nicely. Question is: Does he still have the speed to complete in the Premier League after a year out on loan in France?

Saint Charlie Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Nixon says there could be something in the reports linking us with Emmanuel Mayuka the Zambian attacker.
S-Clarke Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Probably one of many targets we've looked at. Can't say I know anything about him though.
MOSaint Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Nixon says there could be something in the reports linking us with Emmanuel Mayuka the Zambian attacker. K. Billy's Supersound mentioned him a few days ago along with Aubameyang...
S-Clarke Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Well at least it looks like we're active for direct/tricky/pacey attacking players, because we seriously lack those.
ollysaints1 Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Mayuka is pretty good, he played at the african cup of nations i think? , i might be getting names mixed up though?
MOSaint Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Mayuka is pretty good, he played at the african cup of nations i think? , i might be getting names mixed up though? Joint top scorer, albeit he was in an 8 way tie or something and was in the team of the tournament.
supersonic Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Why are people still getting a hard on over this Nixon guy? he's nothing special. It really is pathetic
hypochondriac Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 (edited) Why are people still getting a hard on over this Nixon guy? he's nothing special. It really is pathetic Every single one of your posts is talking about some imaginary scenario where everyone believes every single thing that Nixon says on twitter, when in realisty people are judging him by his past record (where he has written accurately about our targets) and finds some of what he says interesting. Your posts are infinitely sadder than everyone elses. Edited 26 August, 2012 by hypochondriac

Just a hunch.

S-Clarke Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Why are people still getting a hard on over this Nixon guy? he's nothing special. It really is pathetic This is a transfer rumour thread, which is used to surprisingly discuss transfer rumours. Nixon seems to provide the rumours. If they're true, who knows. But that's what this thread is for. If you think what he writes is tosh then don't look at it, and don't post on this thread. Simple really.

J Cole---------Ramirez----------Lallana ------------J Rod/Lambert-------------- Is quite a mouth watering thought. Certainly would get the creativity, flair and pace we missed yesterday.
S-Clarke Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 The problem with Joe Cole these days are his injuries. Chelsea decided not to offer him a new contract because he'd barley played for them for a year, he went to Liverpool and almost immediately got injured again. He's injured again now.

The main question will be can he stay injury free? I suppose with a loan move you aren't risking as much.

IMO Cole would be an expensive replacement for David Connolly in the treatment room so best forget it, as for David Goodwillie, I've seen him play a number of times and (at best !) is a poor man's Billy Sharp so we don't need him either !! Clearly CB's and pacy wide men are the priority and I don't consider either of those two in the right category !!!

It's no use buying squad players like we di in 2004, it will only reult in the same ending and will have cost us more.
Saint Martini Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Has anyone mentioned Douglas from FC Twente? He got his Dutch passport this week so no work-permit problems anymore. He' big, fast and apart from the occasional rush of blood to the head he's not got that many weaknesses.
pangy Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 In all fairness you would be better taking a punt on David Bentley than Joe Cole.

goodymatt Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 @SimonPeach: #SaintsFC linked with #FCB's Andreu Fontàs tonight. Decent player but missed the most of last season with an ACL injury. Fit for purpose? @SimonPeach: Andreu Fontàs would reportedly cost #SaintsFC a fee of £6million. Good friend of #QPR's @alefaurlin after they did injury rehab together.

Appy Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Apparently has no pace,no good as a lb in a 433 if slow Sauce?
pangy Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Sauce? On the Fontas thread granted it may be a wiki source but says Andreu Fontàs is a commanding center back, but he isn't only limited to that position. He can move up to play defensive midfielder and this year he proved that, if necessary, he can fill in at left back. His tackling is excellent, but he struggles when he faces speedy opponents as he doesn't possess the necessary pace.

I think he's now 1st choice left back at Ajax since Vernon Anita moved to Newcastle so may be costly
