HCDAJFU - The transfer deadline countdown

I would be amazed if we don't sign 2 or even 3 players before the transfer window shuts. Whether that includes Phillips and Ramirez remains to be seen, but given the fees involved in just those 2 deals, I would be surprised if we don't pull off other high profile signings. There's also the rumour of an €8m bid for that Biyik fella, so there's definitely money in the pot to be spent in this window.

We just have to sit and wait.

Another week gone and nothing more than more rumours to show for it.

The trouble with brinkmanship is that the closer to the edge you go, then the greater the risk of a very nasty fall you run. Tonight we have a squad that may well struggle to get out of the bottom six places this season. Now if the chairman really wants to do something about that perilous state of affairs then (to state the obvious again) he better start getting some good players signed pretty damn quick.

So a interesting week ahead then ?

I'd be amazed if we do sign more than one more player before the window slams shut - and if we do I bet it won't be a big signing.

That's not to say we don't need to strengthen the squad - we do - but all I'm expecting now is a relatively unknown centre back for a relatively small fee, a failed premier league player like Dann or Berra for more money than their worth or someone on loan from another club whose been left out of the 25 man

Another day, no sod it, another WEEK, and bugger-all has happened.....

A massively underwhelming transfer window....

Another day, no sod it, another WEEK, and Alpine is saying the same thing.

A massively normal transfer window on saints web.

More playing the poster and not the post.

Its the facts of the situation. You will have to deal with it sometime. Your dismissiveness is now threadbare.

I now have question marks about whether we can maintain our PL position.

Just how you wanted it, basically. Otherwise what the hell are you supposed to moan about??

The other teams have got some good signings in. The club knows we need quality reinforcements but ultimately we need to judge when the window closes.

At this moment in time however I'm a little worried.

his time next week I hope we have made huge strides or it will be a long old season. 3-5 players could make or break our season. Would love to see Ramirez.

I know what you mean this new way the club is run will never see us get out of this league 1...

I never said I think the club is being run badly - it's been a success story for the most part for the last three years - but then I don't think everything has been run perfectly either.

It's not a case of black and white - it's 50 shades of grey!

The way the whole Pardew issue was handled two summers ago probably cost us the League One Title and the delay in bringing in players in January probably cost us the Championship.

I suspect Cortese is still on a learning curve when it comes to transfer negotiations in the football world.

And in my opinion the club got the season ticket pricing wrong this summer - and this season the home and away shirts have been a bit of mistake. They look like Liverpool shirts - not Saints shirts - and for this reason it looks like shirt sales haven't exactly been great - when for our first season back in the premier league they should have been great. I've only seen a few new shirts around - when this time last year and the year before they were all over the place.

But overall the powers that be at the club have got far more right than wrong which is why we're back in the Premier League after two successive promotions.

The fact we had just come from League 1 had nothing to do with us not winning the league. what cost us the league was the spell between December and February where we only won about 4 games. Our squad was more than capable of winning the league, and probably should have done

are you saying that half of the team never played in the NPC before...or those that did were used to being at the bottom end...had no fact.

in that case, I look forward to comfortably finishing in the top 8 this season...you know, if it has no bearing

Talking out of your arse again I see and oblivious to it as per.

I think it's the 'massively underwhelming transfer window' that does it. Yes things are getting a bit squeaky bum but there's another fricken week left yet! State your disappointment, say we're leaving it late but don't condemn anyone until its actually panned out the way you're dreading. Then moan as much as you want, there'll probably even be a few more that then agree with you. It's also the fact that you said the same thing yesterday. What's changed? Why the need to moan about it again?

Now see this one Alps? Doggface actually manages to say almost the same thing as you without coming across as a pillock.

Youknow my views on this matter, I stated them quite clearly back in May. Unless there is a sudden increase in activity I may prove to be very correct in my opinion.....but as you suggest i will wait the transfer deadline to be proven right.

This seems to be a reasonable position - hope you're pessimism proves unjustified. Personally I expect at least two more signings and a top 12 finish.

Tempted to lock this, it has gone the same way as the previous HCDAJFU thread. If another poster says something you do not agree with, ignore it!

Keep this on topic or it will go, can't wait for the end of the window.

Peace!

Would happily see us pull the plug on this Ramirez deal and concentrate on getting in an excellent centre half. Michael Dawson, for example, is available and it strikes me that Bologna are messing us around somewhat in these dealings. I'm often critical of Saints in such dealings but in this case it seems we're not to blame, from what I can make out. All the while, Swansea are signing Celtics best player, Sunderland are bringing in Johnson/Fletcher, yes paying big cash but undoubtedly strengthening. I hope we don't leave it too late, COYR, get some quality in and splash some cash!

For the last time, you can work on more than 1 transfer at any one time. I'm baffled as to where this theory has come from.

Some perfectly valid points were made last night, with a bit of humour intejected, but of course this is banned on here. Everything must be serious and every post related to the opening one. Conversations and discussions in real life and on mongboards are always 100% serious and never go off on tangents.
