Wigan Build Up

A win would be great, a draw Ok and a defeat not the end of the world as long as it was a anrrow defeat.

I am assured that we will be fine when our transfer targets come good so i will relax in the knowledge that we never intended to start off well by settlng in the players over the summer.

I've practiced waving my season ticket and it doesn't look that impressive, if I want to abuse fellow Saints fans should I take the whole package with the DVD and wave that?

Despite it being the only badge of honour for diehards, the card is quite small, I'll be quite upset if the non-season ticket scum don't realise that I'm abusing them for no apparent reason.

Can someone let me know the score as I'll be looking away from the pitch for most of the game, trying to spot people in Crouch shirts.

anyone else looking forward to watching the game on a dodgy stream today...?

best part about going up....

Even better for us in UAE is being able to watch it in a dodgy pub LOL

Will miss the banter and nuns on Matchday Thread but being down the pub with a handful of fellow Saints Fans is fantastic.

Mmm, I have a horrible feeling leading into this that the players will be a bit overconfident and we'll receive a wake-up welcome to the Prem. Saints 1 - Wigan 3.

Losing not neccesarily a bad thing although yer Alpines will be unbearable. Certainly won't define the season.

The problem with this game is it is so "winnable" that it brings far more pressure than last week or next week.

I think frustrating 1-1 today but Rickie scores again.

Who let you out of The Lounge?

Ps. Don't reply, I'd hate for you to waste 1 of your 3 posts on me.

Agree it will not define the season - in fact I think that could be said of any match for any team for that matter. The Prem is quite competitive this season IMO at the top end and at the bottom. I also agree with your comment on "winnable" and yet Wigan are a decent team.

The game is very winnable. That in itself means the transfer situation is irrelevant. We have a squad that can win this fixture, we know that. Doesn't mean they will, that'll be down to form, effort, concentration, tactics etc.

However, I fear a lack of a win today will mean a lot of posters blaming transfer activity and getting a bit carried away. I always hoped as Saints came back up the leagues we'd see just a little patience from fans. Maybe it's just a minority of fans being the loudest. Hopefully. Impatience, kneejerk reactions and complete lack of appreciation are pretty unpleasant characteristics in groups of football fans.

Completely agree on every word you say here. I do think its the silent minority of fans who bleat on about transfers, the club don't know what they are doing etc.

Will be a tough game for sure, Wigan finished the end of last season really strong, and did well against Chelsea the other day, despite going 2-0 down quick. They will be good down the flanks, will be a busy day for Fox and Clyne. That said, im an in a good mood,,,, Win by two goals.

Can they be silent and bleat on? I take your point though. I think it's just the internet makes people more impatient for instant deals. Most fans never come on this forum so nobody should take too much notice of it. It's just a bit of entertainment with the odd bit of genuine news.

Can't argue with that - but the subs bench looks a bit short on options except for Sharp should things go wrong!!

How far away is Lee from starting? Surprised no Chaplow on Bench.

Chaplow and Hammond will never see game time.

Good team IMO. No excuses.

Yep. That's a team, you'd think, is perfectly capable of beating Wigan, and several other "lesser" prem teams, at home.

But, that said, a team that will need to score at least twice to win. We're going to leak a few.

COYR.

I see will still some posters who think Wigan and non-top four teams are 'lesser'. This is poppycock.

It wouldn't surprise me if we lost 3-1 or so. West Ham are being hammered at the moment by lesser club Swansea...

This is the top league everyone not League One. There are NO easy games every game is as losable as it is winnable.

What a load of sh ite.

At the end of the season let's count up the points difference between

a) top and fourth

b) top and eighth

c) top and twelfth

d) top and seventeenth

e) top and bottom

and then tell me that all the teams are the same and all are games are equally winnable and losable in this league.
