Colinjb Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 With Hammond looking to be sidelined through the emergence of JWP and the signing of Davis, will Lallana as captain be a more regular feature? A product of the academy and part of the club for over a decade as captain? For me it makes a lot of sense, hopefully this will become official and permanant. hypochondriac Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 Thought he wasn't at his best today but really pleased he was captain. Hope it's permanent.

eurosaint Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 (edited) I was a bit worried looking at him in the tunnel, he seemed totally awestruck when staring up at Vincent Kompany ! Not sure what qualities he will bring to the role long term (does he shout instructions etc..?) but he certainly is Saints through and through ! S-Clarke Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 It's a permanent choice going by what Adkins is saying. He says he's been here 12 years and has matured so well, he's ready to lead the team now. That were his words.... I imagine it's a nice reward of Adam too, ''you stuck with us when you could have gone, so now you can captain us where we belong"
Matthew Le God Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 Hope it's permanent. Based on what Adkins said after the game, it sounds like it might be.

Avenue Saint Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 Think he's a great candidate for it. Proof always in the pudding and don't think TEAM could've given any more effort wise today.

Not sure what qualities he will bring to the role long term (does he shout instructions etc..?) but he certainly is Saints through and through ! Having been to the Wolves game the other week when it was quiet enough to hear the players on the pitch, i was surprised by just how vocal Adam was... squeaky voice mind! Thought he looked a natural captain today and better suited to the role now he's moved more into the middle of the park.

Agreed, and coming out at half time he was asking Nasri if he could have his shirt at the end of the game. As soon as it was over he ran across and asked, only for Nasri to gesture to when they go off the pitch. I'll probably get shot down for this observation but I think he needs to focus a little bit more on the job in hand rather than who's shirt he can collect afterwards. If he had played a blinder admittedly this would be totally overlooked as I do understand the importance of the day in all their careers but he was like a rabbit caught in headlights for most of the game. krissyboy31 Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 he was like a rabbit caught in headlights for most of the game. I couldn't disagree more. He is coming to terms with a new position in a new formation but grew as the match went on.
saint_ed Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 Utter turd About as well a constructed response as your intelligence clearly suggests. I'm as happy and proud as everyone else about the result, just thought Adam was one of our weaker players and was highlighting an observation so get out of Adams arse. Finally, in case you forgot, forums are about opinion so if you don't agree say so but don't make a dickish response.....makes you look like a child. Fair point, admittedly he did improve in the latter stages so saying the most of the game was perhaps a little harsh. I just know he can provide an exceptional standard and just felt he was a little over awed.
Raging Bull Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 Would love him to be captain for a long, long time but only if it doesn't detract from his game ie-Flintoff for England.
