Sweepstake on what minute the first patronising comment from sky will be

Turkish

In going for 12 minutes when we get a corner and the camera pans to a shot of our excitable fans, focusing on the biggest mongs they can find who will no doubt be in fancy dress, wigs and facepaints and say something like "wow, look at those Sains fans, they are loving life in the premier league"

Yeah, definitely a shot of a middle aged man with a bit of a belly, face paint and jester hat, 'they're just going to enjoy the day out whatever the result'...etc etc. Perhaps also some reference to how much our entire squad cost relative to one of their players.

I really hope there aren't too many mongs dressed in fancy dress and facepaint since it makes us look so f.ucking small time, problem is there's a good percentage of our fans that just can't help but embarrass the club by being attention seeking dic.ks

That will be half a minute after coverage starts! shots of mongboard faves with scarves, wigs, flags, painted faces, foam hands walking towards the ground "what an experience for these sets of fans"

As for after KO, I'm with you on that one.

I would agree but I'm not sure we will even get mentioned for the first 25 mins of the programme. Its all about Man City remember, not us !

Yea. Hopefully our end will be packed with scowling, stocky 35yo casuals in designer clobber.

Or we could just avoid be patronised by everyone as a plucky team that's up for a season by not treating games like a cup final, something which makes us look incredibly small time

In the PL we are small time...we will be one of the little clubs that will drift between not being interesting enough to mention (except when we get a stuffing from one of the big boys) or when we are mentioned it will all be "plucky little Southampton isn't it cute them being in the PL"... hell even Wigan fans will see us as an easy 3pts......

Can they cope with this type of atmosphere, they won't have been used to it and the players could have a mental breakdown:)

Just look at the faces of their fans, this is what makes the Premier League! They are smiling and singing songs, I doubt they have seen days like this before. This day will live on in the memory of many of them for years to come, it's something to tell their grandchildren about.

I doubt any of them would have even dared dream this last night! How dare they! How dare they! (If Saints take the lead):?

For all bar 7 years of my life we've been a top flight side, of course we're one of the relegation favourites but as a club we're a premier league side. We've been there done it.

City away has been done so many times that i couldn't be bothered today - i'm not paying almost £50 for a ground i've done before, besides i preferred maine road - that's why i don't want to see our mongs treat it like a cup final. It's nothing new, so get the fu.ck over it.

Does anyone actually think that we'll need to wait until the game? Build up, surely?

Still, we're hardly alone in feeling like we get been jipped by the media. Saw someone on Twitter calling a Fulham-bulance because they won 5-0 and were on MoTD fourth ;)

All this talk of face paint, fancy dress & sponge bob hands.

I didn't think Turkish was going?

Oh the one thing I do NOT expect to hear.

Southampton are now amongst the top 4 wealthiest clubs in the PL. The ML legacy provided the funding for the club to build a ten year plan to compete in the CL.......... Their recruitment policy of finding the best technical youngsters and fit them into the strongest Team Ethic in English Football is ground-breaking.

"He may be a physio, but he'll be hoping that he can avoid the need for too much therapy at the end of the match. Whatever happens, just by looking at the small pocket of their support, you can tell this means everything just to be here"

1 min in.

"Looking to emulate the success Norwich had last year" - 3 mins

"Mourinho wasn't even a physio and he did OK" - 5 mins

"In this fixture last year Swansea kept City goaless for 60 minutes" - 25 minutes

"Swansea lost by only 4 goals last year. Can Southampton match this?" - 75 minutes

I've been watching Fox sport. How patronising and wrong can the Yanks get? This is our Premiership debut, we just want to get next to a Man Citeh player and swop shirts, Man City is a fortress, Lambo on the bench is a mistake, as we don't have anyone to fill in.

Goiung to watch sky sports. It's still patronising, but at least it's my sort of patronising.

I thought the coverage was good. Even Gary Neville was complimentary.

It was, and I can understand why the introduced the comments into the programme as it enlightens football tourists watching it.

However, Geoff Shreeves is a condescending c()nt... I'm glad Adkins took the p1ss out of him.

I'm watching on Fox and they've already said "They're probably just looking forward to swapping shirts".

To be fair, getting shot of the awful red shirt isn't a bad idea ;-) It almost felt like it was an away kit today, I keep expecting us to roll out with the stripes next weekend.
