Rickie Lambert - "I almost quit"

Guess he has read the9s posts;)

Not really," he said when asked if he becomes frustrated at his doubters. "I did a few years ago but I've become accustomed to the fact that's what I'm going to get in my career. It doesn't matter what I do in whatever league or whatever season, I'll always have questions for next season.

Idiot.

We shall see. Personally I think it'll take us a couple of months to properly drop him, though getting a creative playmaker in would certainly fill one of his roles, and Rodriguez is already lined up to replace him in the longer term.

Didn't seem to bother him last year ;).

I don't think that was a stupid comment. Lambert should get his chance but we all know that Saints will have long spells at city without the ball and pegged in our own half. Lambert as the lone striker will be forced to come deep and we all know he doesn't have the pace for the ball over the top. So Jayrod might be the better lone striker option. This isn't writing off Lambo, because in a 442 at home he would be first on the team sheet, but away as the lone striker at city.....I am not so sure personally.

Rickie Lambert has gone from L2 to Prem.... in 5 seasons - and has scored in every division.

It may not be the first time, but few player can claim that on their CV. Well done RL...nice goal, too!

(Think Brett Ormerod did more recently)

It's a great story, it took someone a while to take a gamble on Rickie - although it was never much of a gamble really. It's a shame because he should have been higher up for more of his career, but he'll take his chance now for sure. He's just a goal machine, he will score in the CL final, world cups, euro's etc if given the chance. It's just about being brave enough to pick him, and thankfully we were brave enough to spend £1m on him. The best £1m this club has ever ever spent.
