I like Redknapp....he proved it at Spurs, is an excellent manager etc

I know the vitriol will pour forth on here but he has been chosen because is knowledgable and inciteful. Don't that stop anyone though.

I agree with you......so stick that in your pipe and smoke it :D.

Quite agree with you. Since the dirty washing over his leaving Saints so disgustingly went thru the machine, Harry's gone on to prove what a decent football manager he is. Having to work under someone like Lowe in a financially tight situation that we now know all about, I think most managers would have left. As an off the cuff Cockney comedian he can be quite hilarious.

Holy moly others think he's OK too!!!

The last straw for Harry whilst he was here was having Woodward sharing his office with him and Woodward being groomed to succeed him...and Woodward appointing a coach who in turn signed Jason St Juste (I think that was his name) without Harry's knowledge. Not many guys would tolerate that.

Can't disagree with that. Time for some to move on. If you don't want to listen to HR, turn the sound down.

I do think Harry is a good manager but I believe he's crud with finances, his football clubs and his own. It's like on Football Manager (for instance) where you get a budget to spend, blow it, and then ask the chairman for more (or do everything in your power to manipulate the budget to bring in that extra player.).

I still don't like him, he's a cockle and will always be. He has a face you want to slap. (Only if you did that, it probably wouldn't stop wobbling.) I hope the MOTD set can cope when Saints win, I hear a Redknapp twitch measures 6.8 on the Richter scale.

I find it very hard to like or respect Redknapp despite the successes he has achieved in the game as he clearly did not give a flying f*ck about Southampton. He only came to Saints in the first place to make a personal point to that Serbian portsmouth owner .

Redknapp is a chequebook manager, as his time at spurs showed.

He mismanaged his squad to a degree that their seasons fell apart through lack of cohesion and position management, despite spending ludicrous amounts.

He has such an 'eye for a player' that he almost let bale go to Nottingham Forest before an injury crisis forced him to play him.

He relegated saints in 20th position, worse than when he took over, after failing to identify key targets, and instead spunked the money on Bernard, Callum '****ing' Davenport, and his cripple son. Bear in mind this was before Woodward was at the club

He and McMenemy's son chris then colluded on a very dodgy deal to bring Marcelo Tejera to saints, in which £100,000 went missing, and Tejera never played. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/southampton-mystified-by-163100000-that-went-missing-416213.html

Bear in mind that this was at the time he was telling anyone with ears that he only had a 90k transfer budget (which a few morons on here still parrot to this day), despite chasing clinton morisson and robbie blake over the summer (combined fee 1.3 million), despite CM publically stating he was only going to move to london.

He then walked out on saints, to our arch rivals, letting it be known that "his heart was never in it from day one", and sealing his 'legend' by winning a cup tie against a divison one team.

A man whose one 2 talents are spending/pocketing cash, and evading jail.

Anybody who thinks otherwise is deluded IMHO.

Dead right - cough !!!

Give me a hundred million and even I would look half decent at managing a football team and I could learn to b---**** and suck up like him too in time....

I concur with all of that. However, we're talking about his worth as a pundit here and his ability to provide some insightful comment. Frankly he just doesn't have that ability (a bit like his son). If you want cliche ridden, regurgitated opinion that anyone can deliver then 'Arry's your man but he doesn't offer a whole lot else.

If by "inciteful" you mean he incites hatred, fair enough. If you mean "insightful", he has no insight whatsoever that the drunk bloke down the pub doesn't have.

Just regurgitate the following phrases

"my Sandra said"

"proper club"

"nice lad"

"the foreign boy"

"done good"

"bare bones"

"brought him to "

"I don't know about... "

"My missus could have scored that one"

And other such banalities. Give him a tactics board and see if he can explain anything to anyone...

I thought it was a case of ITV poaching Dixon rather than the Beeb dumping him?

You are correct. ITV are paying him more. He was the best thing about the BBC's coverage last season too. Actually talked sense, wasn't patronising and talked about a few things people might actually not know already.

Two of the people (in football) that I least respect greet our triumphant return to MOTD

Perhaps we should invent a drinking game for 'arry's clichés... "the boy did good" = have a shot.

Your liver isn't gonna like that. ;)
