SNSUN Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 Skates still got a point though, won't mean anything when they're folded though. If I were a League One manager, I'd rest my star players knowing that particular result won't count at the end of the season!

Barney went absolutely mental when he scored, raring it right up, they absolutely hated it! He'd been getting absolute pelters all game and just let it all come out. Top lad. The Kraken Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 Good stuff We're they all in unison for hating Scummers? Hands across the M27 and all that Or we're Pompey and Bompey not liking each other How good or bad each team? Plenty of anti-scum songs from Pompey. Bompey were quiet as churchmice until they scored. I left soon after the Barney goal, but there were many stewards dispatched in the corner between the two sets of fans, looked like it might kick off. Not much common ground in hating us at all! Pompey looked really good in the first half. Brian Howard was excellent, too good for League 1. MustHaveA DumbBuyer was actually decent, Long at centre-back looked good, Harley played well. Williamson was very good but absolutely knackered midway through the second half. Lee Rodgers was awful, Izale McLeod ok. Pompey were all over them in the first half, much more even in the second half and but for some very poor shooting Bompey could have got mroe out of the game. Bournemouth looked terrible in the first half, completely overrun. Much better second half but I wouldn't be putting any money on them going up on that showing. Thedelldays Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 It's amazing how Pompey are seemingly allowed to sign all these players How the hell do they do it? So, why did barney do exactly when he scored

Was it hand to ear/finger to mouth stuff? A bit more to be fair. He ran over to the sidelines, jumped into the arms of the player who delivered the cross and was giving it loads of "come on" and "get in there", plenty of fist clenching. No swearing, disappointingly. He got a bottle chucked at him for his efforts, much like Pompey's shooting it missed by a fair bit.

Crazy Diamond Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 Bompey have got themselves a decent little team there, they should score bags of goals with their forwards. Doubt they'll be promoted. Paul Groves isn't much of a manager, Mitchell doesn't know what he's doing appointing him. He didn't know what he was doing when he handed Lee Bradbury a three year deal only to sack him a few months later.

doddisalegend Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 Nice interview with Barney on Solent after the match to paraphrase ...Last season frustrating due to injuries, loves playing for Southampton, would still like to be a saints player, loved it when the skates gave him ****, happy to be playing again ...see where this loan takes him bournemouth a good club. doddisalegend Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 Bompey have got themselves a decent little team there, they should score bags of goals with their forwards. Listening to it on solent they wasted a lot of chances should have scored 3-4. Barney sounded a class above. Still think he could do a job in the championship if he could stay injury free and get a decent run out.

LeBenali Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 My Bournemouth supporting mate said he had a really good game yesterday, chasing everything down in his usual way and generally looking a threat. Apparently Barnie is treating the loan as a way to get match sharpness with a view to coming back here in January to compete for a first team slot (although that's likely to be a tad optimistic). He knew my friend was a Bournemouth fan so turned up to his birthday party at our halls of residence at uni. In terms of ability he was by a mile the best goalkeeper in League Two... And that's about it.
St_Tel49 Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 massive smile thinking of him scoring a last minute winner and celebrating in front of a half filled fratton end. stevegrant Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 Interesting to note that Bournemouth are picking up the entire tab for Barnard's wages during his loan spell (very unusual for a player dropping two divisions) - somewhere in the region of £13k a week

He can get match fit, put himself in the shop window and they have to pay for it, sending them further and further towards another administration.
