Weston Super Saint Posted 15 November, 2008 Posted 15 November, 2008 have the ability to start polls?
Weston Super Saint Posted 17 November, 2008 Author Posted 17 November, 2008 no good can come of that suggestion... Lucky it's being ignored then
stevegrant Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 We'll have a chat about this and some of the other suggestions that have been made. It's not that we're not reading them all!
Post-it note Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 I'm expecting Baj to be along shortly and say a big fat NO. Probably before he even reads the thread like all the other suggestions.
Ponty Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 have the ability to start polls? You want INS, Bates and St Stevo to be able to start polls? Riiiiight.
Weston Super Saint Posted 19 November, 2008 Author Posted 19 November, 2008 You want INS, Bates and St Stevo to be able to start polls? Riiiiight. They paid their money just like everyone else. The novelty would soon wear off - they can start polls on b-anter but don't...
Weston Super Saint Posted 19 November, 2008 Author Posted 19 November, 2008 It scares me. That's all I'm saying. Sometimes it's good to be scared. Do something different....
Mole Posted 21 November, 2008 Posted 21 November, 2008 It scares me. That's all I'm saying. You needn't see it as a dilution of power.
saint_stevo Posted 21 November, 2008 Posted 21 November, 2008 i am less than happy to be mentioned in the same breath as INS and Bates.
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 21 November, 2008 Posted 21 November, 2008 i am less than happy to be mentioned in the same breath as INS and Bates. Cheeky oik, you are a spammer in denial. FWIW, I dont think I would start many polls if any
saint_stevo Posted 21 November, 2008 Posted 21 November, 2008 i would prob start some 'would you' polls tbf
Weston Super Saint Posted 24 November, 2008 Author Posted 24 November, 2008 We'll have a chat about this and some of the other suggestions that have been made. It's not that we're not reading them all! :smt102
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 25 November, 2008 Posted 25 November, 2008 i would prob start some 'would you' polls tbf Would your answer be 'I would' to most of them?
Weston Super Saint Posted 27 November, 2008 Author Posted 27 November, 2008 Maybe we could have a poll to let people decide if full members can make polls or not
Scudamore Posted 27 November, 2008 Posted 27 November, 2008 Maybe we could have a poll to let people decide if full members can make polls or not I'll start it...
stevegrant Posted 27 November, 2008 Posted 27 November, 2008 Should have a couple of additions/changes in place by the weekend along these lines.
Weston Super Saint Posted 30 November, 2008 Author Posted 30 November, 2008 Should have a couple of additions/changes in place by the weekend along these lines. Any idea which weekend
stevegrant Posted 30 November, 2008 Posted 30 November, 2008 Sorry, I was really busy at the end of last week, at Charlton yesterday and mostly in bed today with a ****ty cold... basically what is happening is the following: 1. Normal registered members will be able to vote in polls. 2. Full Members will be able to create polls on a number of forums. It won't be implemented right across the board because some forums simply don't need polls and one or two will just have the privilege abused by certain people. For example, The Lounge will have polls, but the Muppet Show won't. If I'm feeling better tomorrow, I'll try to get it all done then.
Weston Super Saint Posted 30 November, 2008 Author Posted 30 November, 2008 Cheers! But, really, a cold! FFS! Now, if you'd said man flu....
CabbageFace Posted 3 December, 2008 Posted 3 December, 2008 Lol, i love polls, this may be a bad idea.
Weston Super Saint Posted 3 December, 2008 Author Posted 3 December, 2008 Lol, i love polls, this may be a bad idea. I wouldn't get too excited, doesn't look like it's going to happen after all...
Scudamore Posted 3 December, 2008 Posted 3 December, 2008 I'm still waiting for this one... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/announcement.php?f=5
stevegrant Posted 3 December, 2008 Posted 3 December, 2008 I wouldn't get too excited, doesn't look like it's going to happen after all... Au contraire. Done now

stevegrant Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Is the number in question 'one'? No, there are plenty. The main exceptions are the Muppet Show - where certain people would just take the p!ss - and the main board. We might experiment with allow polls to be created on the main board for a short period of time to see how it goes, but I suspect people would just be forever creating them just for the sake of creating them. I'm happy to be proved wrong though, hence why we will probably conduct a trial in the near future (probably around Christmas/new year).
bungle Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 I am not happy about this facility being implemented. Polls are dull.

They're no more work to moderate, and I doubt they eat up the bandwidth, but even so, the people able to make them have paid their money haven't they? If you're like Bungle and you just don't like polls because they're 'dull', isn't the answer as simple as just not voting? In the same way that if you think a thread is boring feel free not to post on it....
Scudamore Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Yes but wouldn't having a poll on the main bored trying to ascertain whether everyone likes Rupert Lowe or not every week get more than a little tiresome?
Weston Super Saint Posted 4 December, 2008 Author Posted 4 December, 2008 Yes but wouldn't having a poll on the main bored trying to ascertain whether everyone likes Rupert Lowe or not every week get more than a little tiresome? Just don't open the thread :smt102
Baj Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Just don't open the thread :smt102 yes, but that's a bit like saying "just dont walk in the dog****"
Jillyanne Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 Rather than starting a new thread - any chance a Mod could explain why I am seeing 'pop up ads' when logged on even though I have paid my fiver? Not a big problem, just asking like.
Baj Posted 4 December, 2008 Posted 4 December, 2008 probably a pop up to inform you you have a PM waiting.
Jillyanne Posted 5 December, 2008 Posted 5 December, 2008 probably a pop up to inform you you have a PM waiting. Nope.
Baj Posted 5 December, 2008 Posted 5 December, 2008 Nope. Ok Jill, then its nothing to do with the site and must be something else you have installed, because this website doesnt run any popups at the moment.

stevegrant Posted 6 December, 2008 Posted 6 December, 2008 Nice work Steve. Now, about this arcade...... To be honest, I know absolutely sod all about the arcade from a technical point of view, so either Baj gets some time to add/remove some of the games or I'll need to spend a bit more time working out how it all works and how I add/remove stuff. I'm off work from 20th December until 4th January, so it may have to wait until then, as I know Baj doesn't have a great deal of time right now due to work.

After all it's only a few [MORE] weeks.
