Wade Garrett Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 They're playing a risky game. They've made it all public for no other reason than to try and start an auction between us and Everton, who have just signed a winger. It's a game of who blinks first now.
Stu Man Do Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sport/football/blackpool-fc/pool-have-no-intention-of-selling-phillips-1-4851014 Hopefully we can convince them still!
St_Tel49 Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 Yes but this sort of thing only counts when it suits us. Are you sure?
The9 Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 ahh I did'nt know that. If anyone wants another reason to dislike that *****, I was waiting for my boss at the Hilton, Swaythling where Blackpool had just arrived for the FA Cup game our NPL One side knocked out, I was at the entrance and Holloway pulled up with his wife(mutton dressed as lamb) as he walked through I made eye contact with him and smiled. I then jokingly said " Good luck tomorrow Ollie, well not too much luck!" he then stormed past me " I'm not signing anything or posing for photos". I was'nt letting that little **** have the last word, so my reply was " If I wanted an autograph of a manager of your ability, Ill pop down the park on a Sunday morning". As a former Sunday League manager I'm offended by this comment.
Professor Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 There are two certainties that come out of this - (1) that a manager and chairman can't be forced to sell a player if they hold his contract, and (2) that no club can force a player to perform to the best of his ability if he doesn't want to play for them. Blackpool can certainly hold on the Phillips and continue to pay him his NpC level wages but they risk paying him to play in the reserves and to see his value fall.
skintsaint Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 can see Swansea going for him if they lose Sinclair to Citeh...

Oyston would sell his grandmothers gold teeth for the right price. They'll sell Phillips alright.
SaintRichmond Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Oyston would sell his grandmothers gold teeth for the right price. They'll sell Phillips alright. They disappeared in 2005 He sent them off in a bag, and got a cheque back for £274.56p
Wade Garrett Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 They disappeared in 2005 He sent them off in a bag, and got a cheque back for £274.56p Did Holloway get a percentage of that?
thorpie the sinner Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 will be interesting to see if MP's head is clear enough to play enough?
Matthew Le God Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 He is on the bench tonight vs Leeds United.
S-Clarke Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 This is another one that I expect will go down to the wire.
Saint Charlie Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Yeah definitely something in this one...would be great too.
SuperSAINT Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Oyston is a tough b*stard to deal with though... But again, I think this one will rumble on.
Crazy Diamond Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Oyston is a tough b*stard to deal with though... But again, I think this one will rumble on. Maybe we could agree to pay off his gambling debts as a sweetener.
Hopkins Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 His goal may have just won me 80 quid. He's welcome here anytime.
Chez Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 can see Swansea going for him if they lose Sinclair to Citeh... Adomah is a more likely replacement.
SuperSAINT Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 No doubt Ollie will be shooting from the hip again tonight re: Phillips
S-Clarke Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 He will still be ours by the end of the window, IMO. Blackpool would be fools to turn down 5/6m for him.
The Kraken Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 No doubt Ollie will be shooting from the hip again tonight re: Phillips Well ee's arrr playerr and ee won't be going nowherrrrr until oi says he is. I won't be callled no loire neever, no oi won't.
John Boy Saint Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Maybe we could agree to pay off his gambling debts as a sweetener. Or help them out when 3 company credit cards are declined when checking into a hotel the night before a game (Peterborough). How can he have gambling debts when he raided the Tangerine Piggy bank to help himself to an alleged £11m from the parachute/positional money. With this fella and Ramirez you can see why we are so keen to have 50% of our squad fed from the Academy should cut out most of this bluffing and pimping that is going on.
John Boy Saint Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Can we get this thread to 56 pages? Why not then we will have enough Moderator points for a Poll
Saint Without a Halo Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 With Blackpool now top of the championship Holloway is going to be even more of a pain!
Saint Charlie Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Interview on 5Live. He said that Cortese hasn't got a clue how to do transfer deals and We can't provide a bankers draft for 5m offer to prove we have the cash... He actually said nothing about us or Phillips, but did say there was an 'Olympic atmosphere' at Bloomfield Rd tonight and that he would pay to watch his team.
S-Clarke Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Someone has already lifted your first sentence Charlie, and posted it as fact in the Gaston Ramirez thread.

VectisSaint Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 I wonder if it was us that made a bid for Ince: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19322766 Pity Oxo's dad did not provide similar advice to his son. Have to say I would have preferred Ince to Phillips on the evidence of what I've seen, but maybe the family influence would have been bad news.

Both good players, Phillips is stronger and more powerful.

Would love it if NC just turned up and opened up a suitcase with £5 mil plus just to shut the C... up!

'They're a fantastic club, they can do what they like, they played brilliantly the other night.' 'Until interest turns into an opportunity which is the club accepting any sort of a bid there's nothing in it' Must be a reason for his change of heart.....

'Until interest turns into an opportunity which is the club accepting any sort of a bid there's nothing in it' Must be a reason for his change of heart..... Holloway having seen the odds on NA being the first to get sacked suddenly realises he'd been an idiot and attempts to build bridges so he can apply to replace him.... The answer is still f\/k off you *&^%%$ piece of @#%^^**
benjii Posted 22 August, 2012 Posted 22 August, 2012 Sounds a bit like the chairman has told him he is going to look a bit of a spanner if he keeps up his pugnacious front re us.
Saint Charlie Posted 22 August, 2012 Posted 22 August, 2012 Sounds to me like they have said to Phillips 'If we are offered x for you then we will let you go'. Ball in our court here I reckon.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 22 August, 2012 Posted 22 August, 2012 Did he mention when we would have to pay the installments?
Pilchards Posted 22 August, 2012 Posted 22 August, 2012 Sounds a bit like the chairman has told him he is going to look a bit of a spanner if he keeps up his pugnacious front re us. Or we faxed them a choice of Hammond, Chaplow or De Ridder with the 5m?
Leicestersaint Posted 22 August, 2012 Posted 22 August, 2012 Holloway is just a total prat and on that basis i am not totally sure this one will go ahead. Maybe they will get Puncheon plus cash?
pingwing Posted 22 August, 2012 Posted 22 August, 2012 Maybe they will get Puncheon plus cash? That would be ideal, get Phillips in and Ramirez in and suddenly Punch looks like his place is gone so he probably will end up rocking the boat again.
Raging Bull Posted 22 August, 2012 Posted 22 August, 2012 Maybe not, don't forget he'll be on prem wages & if he gets sold, chances are it'll be to a champ club.
ART Posted 22 August, 2012 Posted 22 August, 2012 The one thing about playing in the Premier League is having enough cover for every position and more. Discounting a player losing form, injuries and internationals rob a club of prime players. The Academy is providing several players we can relie and count on, but it's wrong to write off players like Puncheon if we sign others. Let us not forget that Jason played a big part in convincing his good mate Clyne to join us. From Sundays match one gets the impression they have a good understanding on the pitch too.
