Get a CB and we are looking the dogs bollix IMO. S-Clarke Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 Shut up Holloway, clearly just trying to cling on to air. Blackpool can't turn down bids like that, no matter what he thinks. He won't want a sulky player hanging around either. According to his comments last week, he had a good conversation with Phillips who was excited and committed to be playing for Blackpool. Well that turned out to be ******** didn't it? He always plays the hard done by deal, ''feel sorry for plucky little me". Anyone is entitled to bid for your players, so get over it. Wade Garrett Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 No point moaning about Holloway. If the boot was on the other foot, we wouldn't be moaning about Adkins. Phillips has signed a contract, that much is true, and Blackpool don't have to sell him. Of course they will, especially now a transfer request has been handed in and they don't have to give 5% of the fee to the player. He wasn't left out of today's squad for any other reason. Blackpool just want to try and squeeze a bit more money out of us. Just like we have done in the past for our top players.
Saint Charlie Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 Surely it will play out that a compromise will be reached and Phillips will join us. That's the peril of being in the Championship.

S-Clarke Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 What does he mean the MP signed the deal? :s Contracted to them, signed a long-term deal. Basically he's telling Phillips to pipe down and honour his contract, when to be honest he's got no chance. I expect him to move early next week and I'd expect more moans and hard done by comments from Holloway next week. I don't have a problem fighting for your own player at all, we would do the same. but I hate the way Holloway does it, it's done in a way where he sounds so hard done by and everything is so bad for him. He's a plucky little manager who thrives on being ''hard done by'' and doing things ''against the odds'', he is at a club which suits him down to the ground, he'd fail miserably at any big club - (look at Leicester for e.g)

Remember, it was his old man who pilfered £11million from the club in their Premiership season. It is very much a business with them. They will definitely sell. itchen_dan Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 Actual quotes from Holloway: Blackpool manager Ian Holloway will not sell Matt Phillips despite him handing in a transfer request and pulling out of the win over Millwall. Holloway, whose side triumphed thanks to one goal in each half from Thomas Ince, admitted Phillips had been the subject of a £5million bid from Premier League Southampton. The 21-year-old, who joined Blackpool from Wycombe in 2010, has asked the Seasiders to let him go, but despite pulling out of the side who faced Millwall, Holloway claims he is going nowhere. "I just want to keep the players I have here now," he said. "What we do we do together. We had a meeting about the Matt Phillips situation yesterday. "The situation was so public I couldn't lie to my players and tell them otherwise. He has handed in a transfer request but that means nothing. "They [southampton] have offered £5 million but we don't need the money. So what can they do? The player is on a contract and he's signed it. "The lad [Phillips] is very disappointed and he is very stubborn and he didn't feel he could play today. "He was in my line-up until he told me that, and [Tiago] Gomes came in and he set up the first one so that's the way it goes.

MOSaint Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 I'm sure when he's sold Holloway will engage in a smug boasting session where he brags about getting a percentage of all transfer fees like he did when Charlie Adam, another player who "wasn't for sale" got sold to Liverpool. Monk Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 ahh I did'nt know that. If anyone wants another reason to dislike that *****, I was waiting for my boss at the Hilton, Swaythling where Blackpool had just arrived for the FA Cup game our NPL One side knocked out, I was at the entrance and Holloway pulled up with his wife(mutton dressed as lamb) as he walked through I made eye contact with him and smiled. I then jokingly said " Good luck tomorrow Ollie, well not too much luck!" he then stormed past me " I'm not signing anything or posing for photos". I was'nt letting that little **** have the last word, so my reply was " If I wanted an autograph of a manager of your ability, Ill pop down the park on a Sunday morning". ollysaints1 Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 There's no way Phillips wont leave now, whether it's to join us is a diffrent story. Also worth noting his new "long term" contract only gives him a wage of just less than £9,000 a week. Theres no way he'll settle for that now he is aware of premier league interest. He would double his wage with us, easily.

bender Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 As much as I hate Holloway, you do have to take his side of his argument a bit from a moral point of view. Who saw MLT on Soccer Saturday today talking about C1it Dempsey?? Basically the guy is on strike coz his club wont sell him to Liverpool or whoever. If he has a problem then he shouldnt have signed a long deal in the first place. If a player was happy to sign the deal in the first place, then he has to stick to the deal. Imagine if a club decided they would go on strike in paying a player coz he was on sh1t form.
