Matt Phillips £6m official bid

Another one bites the dust? Seems strange to me, Butner, Phillips and Ramierz all down the swanney. Hmm.

Cortese will only do "straight" deals

For REALLY Top Quality, especially Foreign players, there is no such thing as a "straight" deal

That, IMHO, is why we have not got 2 Quality CB's, or Buttner, or, as now looks likelt, Ramirez

Someone really has to get "street Wise" PDQ

The only on that has failed so far is Butner and we pulled out of that because he was messing us around. I suppose you are suggesting we are incapable of signing anyone (agenda by any chance ? ) come back at the end of the transfer window and say that.

Very frustrating from our, the fans, point of view. I guess we will have to wait to to final hour of the transfer window before we find out if we'll bring anyone in now.

I am sure the club are "Working hard, behind the scenes" to bring some targets in though ;)

By no means do I have an 'agenda'! I do know that there are two sides to every story. Re Butner, I have friends in Holland and they seem to have a different take on your theory. I might be 100% wrong but is NC hard to deal with? (No agenda, just wondering). I agree that it all might look different at the close of the window.

Really because the Dutch reporters on BBC and talkSPORT said differently and said in terms of Buttner as a person, Saints have dodged a bullet.

I am sure that is what they would like you to think.

IMO our lack of urgency and intent fits exactly with the YOYO strategy that the club is content to pursue.

Sorry, but I am niot wearing the same glasses as yourself. The special 'rose tinted' ones are not available in Norwich, which store in Southampton sells them i could do with a pair so that i see things the same as yourself.

When people resort to childish personal insults one would assume that they have lost the argument.

Perhaps its just your terminology then - Yoyo strategy - prove that is the strategy being adopted and I may not need to result to personal insults. You post as if everything you say is fact yet have no proof. Content to pursue - again wheres the proof? We've only just been promoted for feck sake. Now if we get relegated (I don't think we will BTW) then get promoted then relegated - I might just start agreeing with you. Until then there is no YOYO strategy the club is content to pursue. Oh and does NC remind you of a man that would be content with that?

Where is the evidence of our ambition in the transfer market ? We are agreed there are weaknesses but at the moment appear to show no urgency to deal with them. Lets discuss this again at the end of the transfer window and with a few results under our belt.

BTW, stay cool and try not to resort to personal insults, it tends to undermine your credibility.

I accept that's your opinion but, IMHO, your opinion contains no facts. You have no idea if this is the case or not.

No way will he sign. Blackpool are looking hot for a return to the Prem already.

Inclined to agree with you. This is the sort of deal which should have been concluded weeks ago if we were interested in him, although at the time we were probably after more ambiyous targets, (Lens for example).

Trying to attract him now and it becomes more difficult to sell the vision of chasing European football as realistic ambition .Although this might easily be remedied if the £ signs are big enough, the player may still see it as a fun season scoring for fun at Blackpool in the Championship or a relegation scramble with us.

We're not exactly renowned for doing our transfers in public, so why do you think there's no urgency?

Yes, you could be right. However, if what you are saying is correct then we run a tighter ship than many other clubs, but you could be right, the next few days will be proof I guess.

I didn't say Blackpool had been promoted already, just that the way they're going they look quite good for it at the minute. They've already said they don't need the money and don't want to sell Phillips. He may be more inclined to stay now that they have made a perfect start to the season and we certainly have not.

We should be after Ince not Phillips - he's the far better player!

Although they're both wingers, I think it depends what you're after. Ince is left footed and, whilst it appears to me that he has a bit of pace, he is more about trickery and would be more like a poorer version of Ramirez IMO. Phillips, on the other hand, is more about pace and power, is more explosive, is right footed and would presumably play where Jay Rod is failing on the left, cutting in on his right foot. If we do get Ramirez and we can get a Blackpool winger, I think we're making the right choice for our requirements.

Nixon sounded doubtful over Phillips as of last night. Said he would "cost a fortune".

I would rather we bought a bog standard premier league defender anyway.

We might be in for Mayuka instead for the pace element.

Is Arjan De Zeuuw still knocking about? He would add some passion alongside Hooiveld and we can send Fonte to the knackers yard.
