Oh dear sunshine!!! We'll see. Shurlock is right though, you build the team around players like this. It seems he's been playing more centrally last season but also drifts out wide and deep, which is why i said he'll be rotating positions. I'd expect him to start out wide but licence to roam where he can do damage.

Bucks Saint Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 By the way, I don't think this announcement is going to be ''He has signed'' - It's going to be a quick statement released which confirms what we suspect, that we've reached agreement with the club for the transfer of Ramirez. That's good enough for me - an OS announcement means its a done deal, timing the only issue

If he's as good as we are hoping, and is head and shoulders above what we have got at the moment, you've got to get the ball to him as often as possible. I'd say that probably mean going through the middle with a license to roam. This will aslo mean he would have to be disciplined defensively - does anyone know what his work levels are like? Anyway, if this guy signs, who is going to be the first to quote hypo's "I've seen it all before, it aint never gonna happen" post?

Operation is still missing the signature of President rossoblù Albano Guaraldi Bologna, 27 August 2012 - The Bologna trains, but Ramirez is not in the field: is already in England, where Bologna is about to conclude his transfer to Southampton for 14 million euros net. To unlock operation that last week seemed faded was a blitz player's agent, Pablo Betancourt, that the night would be able to convince the leaders of the Saints to accept the payment terms required by the company rossoblu. The prosecutor would also have declined to enter into negotiations commissions that belong to him in case of transfer of the player. The operation is still missing the signature of President rossoblù Albano Guaraldi: the company does not officially confirmed, but suggests that the passage of Gaston, in the figures and in the manner already required by the club last week, could be a matter of hours. 'In a deal of 14 million you can not easily say no', the only comment Betancourt reached during these hours in Quotidiano.net Great Britain, where he is to define the passage of Ramirez at Southampton. I said he's a winger and he'll start outwide but be given freedom, that is'nt back tracking. You look at the youtube clip a lot of his best work is coming in from out wide. I'd be surprised if he is given much defensive responsilbility as we would want him on the ball.
Under Weststand Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 Well have to admit I voted no I didn't think it would happen, but it's looked ever increasingly likely to happen as the weeks gone on. As it appears that we we were the only show in town. Looks as if this has played in our favour & with our need for wingers coupled with Balognas need for cash it looks as if we've reached agreement if tweets are to be believed. Lets get this done then get some CB's in as well.

up and away Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 Adkins has repeatedly talked about Lallana's new position in the team and he wouldn't have spent the whole of pre season playing him in the middle if he was then going to move him back out wide once we signed Ramirez. He'll stay central and Ramirez will play in one of the wide roles (if he signs) Adkins is playing Lallana in the middle as a free role, to get the maximum attacking potential from our most skilled player. Put Ramirez in the team and you have a different equation and the emphasis could easily change to get the maximum attacking potential from Ramirez. Looking at the transfer activity, that would be about right. I don't know what the answer is to players positions but I would not expect JRod to be any better on the right. The majority of the good stuff he did at Burnley was by cutting in on his right foot from the left, little originating from the right. If we sign Ramirez it would be all about getting the best attack built around him, what ever that is rather than some previous set up which has hardly set the heather alight. I am struggling to see an answer with our current squad until someone comes along and imposes themselves. There seems little point in all these attackers when they are creating so little and would sub Lambert for a midfielder. Giving a more counter attacking set up and firming up the midfield. Our only chance is to counter attack in numbers but unless you have the opposition space to pour into, it's not going to be very effective. That's the problem when you don't have the pace or other physical attribute to open up defences.

sotonjoe Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 Reading between the lines, it sounds as if the agent has been over for a few days in an attempt to broker a deal. He would have been doing his best to get Saints to increase their offer to what Bologna had deemed would be acceptable, and if the 14m euro rumours coming out this morning are true, he may have got Saints close enough. The Italian journos on Twitter this morning are expecting that Saints have managed to increase their bid to the figure quoted above by giving nothing to Penarol in terms of a fee, but leaving them with a 30% sell-on clause. Ramirez is expected in the UK soon for a medical and the deal should be announced comfortably before the deadline. My personal concern now is the £33m burning a hole in Spurs' pocket. If they want Ramirez, their ability to deal the deal has just significantly increased, and Saints should act quickly to capture Ramirez's signature if he remains our key target. itchen_dan Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Squadre/Bologna/ Gaston Ramirez is not Casteldebole for the resumption of training and it seems the right time came for his transfer to Southampton. The sensational dispute between El Niño and the president Guaraldi has accelerated the resumption of contacts with the Saints and now lacks only the formality of the deal from 14 million euros in cash, one less than previously claimed by the club rossoblù. And while the Uruguayan is the practice before flying to England becomes even more urgent the arrival of reinforcements for an attack capable of producing only one shot in Verona on Sunday. In the crosshairs are Floccari, Longo and Lazzari in addition to Inter defender Juan Jesus. Meanwhile, the team confused and checked that sold a crash in the second half to lose Verona Perez also in view of the advance of Saturday night at the Dall'Ara with Milan. El Ruso will be disqualified for the gesture of frustration which ended his race 87th, an entry with your feet together that will force Pioli to reinvent the midfield to 5 with the likely inclusion of Pulzetti. On the left wing will return Morleo Motta and return to the right while Natali continues to train separately and in central defense should remain Antonsson, appeared guilty on the goal of Pellissier.
