'in this way I will sell him to Southampton'

I think the context is he's not going to sell him to Southampton just because the player wants to leave.

Doesn't mean he won't come if the deal is right.

This is reminding me more and more of the Walcott or Ox transfers, except this time we're stood on the .....

This is just more classic positioning from their president; clearly getting disparate.

Nailing an agreement with all parties, including the 3rd party ownership, must have been complex - and will be equally so for any other English club. Won't happen quickly. You can bet if any other English club were talking to them their president would be screaming it from the rooftops. Anyone else is going to have to move in fairly promptly.

We're in pole position on this - for now.

The interesting bit will be what happens if no other club comes in........ Will Don Cortese spend the cash elsewhere to strengthen us next week, so ruling out any chance of us getting him (a player we clearly want, massively)? Will he keep it in his pocket to try and nail a last day discount deal (and risk the squad being weaker than we could be until Jan)?

Going to enjoy watching the end game on this.

Nothing new but a summary of recent events, and in English!

SimonPeach: Bologna president Albano Guaraldi claims Gaston Ramirez's prospective move to #SaintsFC is at a standstill. Money the problem.

SimonPeach: "The conditions haven't been met," Guaraldi said. "We're trying to resolve the situation but the two parties can't agree" #SaintsFC

SimonPeach: "He's very angry," Guaraldi said about Ramirez being denied a move to #SaintsFC. "He has told me that he's threatening not to play any more"

SimonPeach: It is not over, but Guaraldi & Bologna are digging their heels in. "Ramirez's price? Bologna are looking for 15million euros net." #SaintsFC

I'm sure that this question has been asked a number of times already, but 90 pages take a lot of sifting.

Who is this Simon Peach guy and how does he know so much about the deal? Is he there as part of the negotiations?

Or is he just reporting what the Bologna chairman is saying?

Considering he keeps tweeting left right and centre, and therefore seems to have loads of time on his hands, I guess he must be a journalist?

(That or he's winding us all up)

You have always been a ray of sunshine over the years Saint Richmond......you only ever seem to surface when there is a chance to complain about something. Great if this deal happens, but if it does not the sky won't fall in and I'm sure Saints have other irons in the fire.

Have you forgotten where we were 2 years ago? Or how we played last Sunday against Man City?

Buttner, Phillips, Ramirez

The "common denominator" ???? We end up losing them to others.......(in the cases of Phillips and Ramirez, wait and see)

So Buttner is effectively the only example you have. And Vitesse didn't need a better offer, all prices and terms were agreed until this 'third party' stepped in.

I think it still has a good chance going through as Clarke says.

We have been in this position before with other players and have ended up getting them after a long drawn out process where it looked like we would get him then it seemed dead.

If you think about it we are actually in the driving seat with this one. They have financial problems and by all accounts need to raise cash. We have agreed terms with the agent and player. We have put in our last offer with a take it or leave it condition and it seems they want to use the media to say they won't accept it. Nobody from our side has commented at all on the whole thing. It is all coming from their chairman pretty much.

As the time ticks away we will get towards the transfer window closing and they could possibly end up having to keep a player unhappy after their chairman changed the details of the deal. Little interest from other clubs wanting to match the valuation. So they could potentially be going 4 months with no money and a ****ed of player putting in **** performances which lowers his value.

I can imagine this week we will be linked to other players which will put even further pressure on their chairman. Because in all honesty if we have £13m to spend on an midfielder there are a lot of other quality ones out there for that amount.

Anything can happen in the next week but I got a feeling this is not the end of it.

When/if this transfer comes off one thing it shows that is SFC is in the best shape it has been in for years.

if it does not come to fruition,so be it.when was the last time we were so close as signing someone of this calibre.

Attempting to pursuade someone of his ilk,and it appears we did pursuade him to join, shows our ambition and transfer policy is spot on.

Ive read the original interview in italian and the google translated version is, typically, misleading.it still looks like a deal nearly there to me.

The bottom line is that the President has promised gaston he can go and that he also says that Talks are NOT over. In other words its just another part of the haggling. He wants more money simple as that.

Does anyone know if those interviews with their president was on radio or was it only in writing?

If it´s only in writing I think definitely it´s just part of the game that is being played at the moment. If the deal was off there would be no problem for him to make a radio interview or even in front of a camera and you have seen no photos or video at all with him.

My conclusion is that it´s still a game being played.

For another view on it. Could the game tomorrow make any difference in the way we continue on this deal?

If we have a poor offensive performance, are we more likely to put up more money on the table??

In all fairness, we haven't lost Ramirez and Phillips to others and Buttner's agent made our interest public in order to secure him a move to Man Utd who he knew were interested.

I think there's more hope for the other two because we seem to be doing a lot more chasing.

Absolutely this. We can walk away and Bologna, who clearly need the money and have a fu ck ed off player on their hands, will be in a far weaker position.

Laughable all these posters desperate for Saints to pointlessly pi ss money away. This aint a computer game you freaks.

As far as Bologna are concerned Saints have been used to try to bring in other offers from across Europe and England. We supporters are playing right into his hands by giving them a mightly long thread to show how much Saints are prepared to grovel at his terms. In reality this is not the case, just the Bologna is being provided with all the a ammunition by us on here.

"In reality" this thread is a total irrelevence and is not, repeat not, being used to "show how much Saints are prepared to grovel".

This is a fans forum. None of us are negotiating this transfer.

HTH.

No it is not a possibility. Not a chance the FA would allow us to own 30% of a player.

Are you sure? Why not? surely we could own 30% of a player as a company! The FA would not let us own 30% of a player who played for us! The two are very different as we woud plan to own 100% of him before he played. This could actually be a very astute move if possible and true as it would allow us to dicate any price Bologna get as no one will pay them the full amount without agreement with us.

What an amazing transfer saga! At the end of the day I am not too worried, as to be quite honest 10 days ago I had no idea who Gaston Ramirez was. If we don't sign him I will look at it as us being a lot more ambitious than I thought this early, and if we do sign him I will be astonished. Either way I am very happy with the direction the club seems to be pushing! :)

"The negotiations with Southampton are at a standstill because they haven't given us the financial guarantees we asked for and so we've put things on hold,'' Guaraldi told Sky Sport 24 reporters.

"Our relationship with them remains a friendly one but both parties has conflicting demands. Last year Ramirez was getting a bit restless and I promised that this year he would be sold, at a certain price.

"This year no such offer has arrived, the conditions have not been met. We carried on with negotiations regardless but we couldn't reach an agreement. At the moment we're trying to resolve the situation, but the two parties can't agree so the discomfort and nervousness is understandable.''

A much, much clearer translation.

Penarol may not be too happy either if we walk away, especially if Bologna chairman has effectively talked down Gaston's value.

All sounds reasonable. Bologna absolutely desperate for someone else to come in, but in their desperation you can see that no one will. That is why we lead the chase, after all.

We're all over this.

What do you propose? We all curse him and the thought of him signing?

That would help the transfer along no end no?

The other thing massively in our favour here is that time is running out for Bologna to find a decent quality replacement for Ramirez, to do that they need cash, and at the moment there's only one place they're going to get cash from.

Still very much a case of who blinks first
