We have remained "shut up" throughout.

Paying a skint club all the money up front is bonkers. No club would do it, except maybe QPR who are equally mental.

We're playing it right. Wait for them to blink, which they will, as they'll need some sort of money from him by the end of the window.

I appreciate the cash flow point but none of us know what our income or budget is. My point, simply, is this seems to be a put up or shut up deal. If we want the player and cashflow/budget allows us to then we get the job done. The statement from others that it would be silly to pay the full fee (as a matter of principle) is silly.

Sorry egg - every club would look to 'spread the payments' It means you can buy 3-4 players rather than blowing it all on one and having to wait 12 months for another - especially if you are not selling major assets to cover the cost -we would be stupid to pay it all up front - having said that, I think a FIFA ruling that mandated up front payments in full would actually be a good thing though - we would see an overall fall in transfer fees and clubs potentially being less stupid... unless you are skates that is as they ignore all rules anyway

€80k/week......LOL!!!!!!! No. It worked out about €38k net, so if all liabilities are the same as everyone else (which im sure they're not given the fact there are ways of getting around tax issues) he'd be on less than €60k.

So 80 grand pw unless we try to be Pompey stupid smart then.

So why not if we want the player get a bank loan and pay up front

Personally I think this makes the move more likely.

Bologna have no way out.

He's been touted around Europe for big bucks - either no one has the money or they are looking at more experienced players.

He obviously ticks a lot of boxes for SMS - Cortese & Adkins have found someone they want.

Proof of this is stumping up the asking fee straight away - something Spurs and Liverpool failed to do?

Really glad to hear the player say something after all the antics last week...

Are we being sucked in again by a Tweet?

er getting 10-15mil over 3-4 years at current interest rates , thats if you can find a bank willing to lend you the cash is not going to be easy or wise... better to spread it out based on your revenue and timing of thje income.... avoid debt!

Change tapatalk so that it has fifty replies on a page.

I don't use Tapatalk. This is on a laptop, and on my work PC. Guessing it's in the Profile Settings somewhere, along with "don't show Avatars" which has also served me very well.

This all remind me of the Cemetery scene in the Good the Bad and the Ugly.

I think there's a bit of Latin style face saving going on as well.

This all reminds me of the Cemetery scene in Peter Jackson's cult comedy Zombie flick Brain dead.

Can see NC now as a vicar jumping on the toombstone with large spade in hand, decapitating the bologna presidente with the immortal words 'I kick arse for the Lord'

You know what'll happen, we'll get into next week and someone will come in for him. Not saying he will join them over us but nothing is as it seems. He wants to leave, they want to sell, we want to buy therefore why is it on, off, on, off, on, off?

One thing that has crossed my mind, if Bologna are so skint and need to sell, they must have a giant pair of ******** to be kicking us back like this. We've got no devine right to buy anybody but if they need the money as people claim, they're playing a dangerous game as the clock ticks down.

Probably foolishly, I am starting to believe this will happen.

Because this is not our problem. Why on earth do we need to take a loan out if Bologna are skint?

Bologna do not hold the power here, we do and the player does, as he is clearly wanting/expecting to move (somewhere) this window.

Bologna will concede soon enough.

And I'd rather we didn't sign this kid rather than set a precedent that we spunk all the cash up front when we buy players.

That is true but we only hold the power until such time as someone else like Spurs come in (if they do.)

While Bologna are holding out for other offers, I assume they realise that their antics are simultaneously putting off potential suitors who are probably concluding that it's not worth the aggro dealing with them.

You'd think so, but I doubt it.

It will happen - The nearer this gets to the transfer window deadline the less leverage Bologna will have and they will sell.

By way of a comparison, despite Wigan's bravado, it seems that they are now resigned to selling Moses to Chelsea now.

They coud pay a higher amount up front than we have offered though.

They could do, but look how Bologna have acted - they are hard to do a deal with and with the third party stuff too its a complicated deal - if Spurs wanted to get it one by next Friday they would have to get on with it.

Could easily get this done in a week. Easily. We are still probably favourites but to say someone couldn't come in on say Tuesday and get it done IMO is misguided.

I didn't say that it can't happen, but transfer deals are more complicated than many here seem to realise. Bologna have been trying to generate interest in him for a week now and there is none more than ours, not that is firmed up.

If Spurs wanted him then Im sure they would have stepped in by now...for all they know he could sign for Saints tomorrow and then they would rue missing out.

IMO if he doesn't join us it won't be because we are gazumped by anyone else.

At the moment i'm in the "this could still happen" camp. I think Cortese is quite rightly playing a game of chicken with Bologna and quite rightly so. Whatever the outcome Cortese is showing that we are a competently run football club that will not be bullied and will not be swayed by the stupid mind games Bologna have adopted during this saga.

They could easily miss out on one of their targets and then turn their attention to Ramirez.

Explain why it would be so easy for a another club to agree price, terms of payment, resolve third party arrangement, agent fee's, player contract, image rights etc etc within a week despite being around 2 weeks behind us?

Quite easy to pay more up front than we've offered. Whether that's a sensible commercial decision is another debate, but it's easily done.

I think we can if we need to, but would rather stick it out and wait. Seeing as though he's injured anyway so wouldnt be able to play vs Wigan, we might as well just sit and wait for Bologna to lower their demands.

And the rest? From Monday there are only 3 days for Bologna to do the deal. Given how they gave acted with us, doubtful they are suddenly going to negotiate another deal with someone else nice and quickly.....unless of course as you suggest, someone is willing to throw over the odds cash to all parties. In which case, they are welcome to him.

Perhaps Bologna are gambling on Modric going to Madrid giving Spurs extra ££/€€ to spend??

Can't see spurs offering more than us though, what we've offered seems the going rate for him in reality. Levy is a pretty hard negotiator himself, so I can't see him letting them walk all over Spurs with their demands. Probably why the move there didn't materialize in the first place.

Quite simple. All they have to do is agree to Bologna's terms (or just get closer to their demands than we have) and the deal could be done pretty quickly. They don't have to go through two week's worth of arguing/negotiating/faffing about*.
