This really has been the most painful of drawn out transfers. This guy looks class and could be a defining influence in our season. I can't see any other club at this late stage gazumping us or bringing Bologna to heel but if Liverpool or Spurs do pull something off, perhaps that will tell us something about our modus operandi when it comes to transfers. I have believed us getting Gaston was going to happen but am starting to think the sands of time are running out now and the shame is we have wasted time and energy on a transfer when we could have been looking at other targets.

I think in future I don't want to know anything until it actually happens - as they say its the unrequited hope that gets you in the end!

Rodriguez press conference...

Interviewer: 'Just wondering, do you speak any Spanish?'

JR: 'No no me Dad does but never bothered to learn me so...'

Interviewer: 'Because I was going to see if you could help Gaston Ramirez settle in if you can speak some'

JR: 'Yea I've tried to but the conversations quite hard because I cant speak it'

Sound like he has been over and met the players then.

I really hope we wrap this up now. Jarvis is reported to be under going a medical at Wet Spam and Swansea have declared their interest in Tom Ince. If they were both to happen I think we'd find it even hard to prize Phillips away from Holloways clutches.

What's Jarvis to do with Holloway or Phillips?

Sorry FF dont agree - all that has happened since we were last in teh prem is Twitter and instant rumour has just fired the imagination - I believe many a transfer/club gioes through thsi but we have been out this level of spotlight for some time and alot has changed since we broke all records on 'Delap'.

The only reason folk are tired of it all after only 5 days is because we have seen about 200 tweets all with opposite messaging, subtle hints based on no real facts. We are just not used to our transfers being subject to this level of scrutiny or interest.

Lets be honest we did what most would consider the hardest part, convince the player he should come here. The fact that it appears (and this is all speculation) that Bologna recognise that if Lowly saints will pay 15 mil someone else may pay more is part of the game now - we play it, but we play it on our terms and I think that is fair enough. Its risky enough at 15 mil for a player who looks great, but may not settle in England or the prem as others have failed before him. I for one am glad we set our stall out, our valuation of the player and level of risk and are sticking to our guns on this. So your questioning of our modus operandi doe snot really fit with a fair view of the ongoing 'saga'...

There's a simple way of sorting that. Don't use the Internet, listen to the radio, watch the local news or read the papers

I'm on page 100 of this thread now. I'm excited by that. Still not sure why I am viewing a different page number to everyone else though. Still, now it has got to 100 pages (for me), he is defintely going to sign tomorrow. As it is Friday.

But... he makes it after someone asks if we will have any new faces in by Saturday.

Sounds like he thinks that something is likely to happen, It is even put in words at the bottom of the Skysports report "Adkins would not give anything away in terms of the immediacy of any arrivals, smiling and saying "who knows?" when asked whether any would arrive in time for Saturday's clash with his former club Wigan."

First I've heard of any announcement rumours anyway. Unless I'm totally out of date on this thread today.

I've kind of actually done some work today, rather than read this!

Yep, the "have a pint" bit is the best thing to come out of twitter today ;)

Well I'm still optimistic this will come off and I find it quite exciting. Why? Because Liverpool and Spurs were linked with him. Why? Because it is huge money. Why? Because everyone tells me he is a great prospect. But if I'm honest- I had to google him when his name first appeared because it meant sod all to me at the time. Personally I think that makes me a bit of a Lemming but I hope I'm wrong..... ... If it does not come off I shall have serious word with myself.

A few rumours on fb about it. Someone claiming they work at the ground and deal was going to be announced at 11pm. Yeah right

peterwhite_1: @Saintsareback Clearly NC and NA want Ramirez or they would have pulled plug by now. But these things take time #saintsfc

peterwhite_1: @Saintsareback I think Bologna are still buying time. They don't want deal to collapse or they are in desperate trouble #saintsfc

peterwhite_1: Even if deal is m close there's so much to do. Personal terms, medical etc so could still take a while to complete #saintsfc

I thought he had agreed terms?

He has agreed terms, not sure what peterwhite is on about there. Maybe he's not complete up to date with it...!
