As I thought. I know it's hard to keep up with but surely don't bother posting any links that we already may have done to death. Check it first or don't bother.

That's hard enough over 20 pages, let alone 76, hence my suggestion that there should be a simple list at the very top of the post, on Page 1, of the links posted, collated together. People can then scan that first to get up to date.

Interesting that Inter look close to signing Uruguyan wingback Alvaro Perriera for a similar fee to what we apparently offering fior Ramirez. Hes a left footer six foot plays mainly left back for Uruguay, currently at Porto. 26 years old. Inter previously reported as interested in our left footer Ramirez but if they letting Maicon go i guess this lad is the replacement and with Cassano in their team now they dont need an advanced playmaker any more- cassano is king of assists in seria A.....meaning they less likely to get in for Ramirez....fwiw...ho hum...

Well done, 10 SWF points to you.

I would like to point out he hasnt stopped beating that same drum 2 years down the line.

Do you now realise what a twonk you look like Alpine when we were promoted that very season you whinged like a little girl? As well as the season after then.

Maybe you should save your bed wetting for after the season has finished if we do not happen to do well, and starting a thread like 'Do you think our lack of quality transfers this season was the reason we struggled?' otherwise you just end up looking like a right div.... AGAIN.

It's laughable how you started that thread in July though but here we are 2 years later and you're doing the same again, albeit slightly later. Do you not understand most business is conducted at the end of the window?

He is such a victim

I made it clear what I think of him.

He offers absolutely nothing to this place

makes sense mate, but it can be done. I'd be surprised if that article was linked more than ten pages back. Doesn't take that long to skim. Also if the article is dated yesterday and comes from a very well known UK source chances are it was dealt with yesterday.

I thought I would try and look back through the records to see how many pages the Skacel affair took but sadly, I think this was before the whole history of the site was wiped a few years ago so I cant seem to find it.

I did however stumble across a few thread title gems which made me laugh and thought I would share one particular one with you all to take a step away from the Ramirez saga.

I thought I could make it into a little game of sorts. Now no cheating now, you only cheat yourself, so no looking for it but who was the author of the following thread dated the middle of July 2010 (with a whopping 1 month and 15 days before the transfer window closed!)

'Brutally honest, forget it's me posting this, who is disappointed in our transfers'

10 SWF points up for grabs for the first correct answer.... Go!

I wasn't even on here then and I would have bet substantial money on alpine. G if I ever met him I am picturing the robot fro hitchhikers guide to the galaxy tbh. Have never come across a more miserable person.

He is staying, all you need to know is in The Kenyan Post, if they dont know the facts, then who does eh!

http://www.kenyan-post.com/2012/08/liverpool-and-tottenham-target-not.html

Thursday, August 23, 2012 - The agent of Uruguay and Bologna midfielder Gaston Ramirez has confirmed that his client is keen to remain with the Italian club after potential suitors failed to match the club’s asking price.

Ramirez has been linked with a move to the Premier League with Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton all linked to the midfielder.

The Bologna midfielder was in negotiations with the Saints regarding a transfer but talks have fallen over according to his representative Oscar Betancourt.

"The negotiations with Southampton have ended," Ramirez’s agent Oscar Betancourt told calciomercatoweb.it

"Bologna didn't want to close the deal without the bank guarantees. I have spoken with the English club's chairman and they are looking at another target.

"The player was very happy with the offer received, but now he will probably remain at Bologna.”

Betancourt also played down links with Tottenham and Liverpool, claiming that neither club was serious in Ramirez pursuit.

"Tottenham is an option to be rejected at this time because they are a long way short of Bologna's demands,” Betancourt added.

"Liverpool? They have never presented a concrete offer."

Spurs just like Liverpool are in the transfer market for midfield reinforcements following Luca Modric’s imminent move to Real Madrid and Charlie Adam likely to exit Anfield.

Why are people saying this is going on a long time? It's only been about a week, surely that's not such long time? It just seems longer because some people are spending their whole days obsessing over it.

The longer this thread goes on, the less I find myself minding if we get him or not, I've enjoyed watching saints without him and I'm sure I'll continue to. At least now we've got some idea of what Saints are prepared to spend on the right player.

So much has been delivered in the last three years, I'm happy with how things have been done. So far Adkins has done a good job with the team and Cortese has done a good job helping him build a good team. I don't really get what there is to complain about. I'd be delighted if the club carries on just like it has been, thanks.

Ahh reason, common sense, points well made and no personal comments! What else can we ask for!

Alps is occasionally a nob. Feck that, who am I kidding? Alps is frequently a nob (sorry mate, but there it is).

Offers absolutely nothing? Harsh. The place would be poorer without him

Yeah, you looked so hard and impressive when you did that. You must be very proud, as you keep on brigning it up when it's quite irrelevant to the conversation.

He was spot on telling him what he thought, its what I think too.

Simple solution - why don't we agree the loan repayments directly with the Italian Bank for the non-upfront amount over three years (assuming rates and conditions are usual standard ones)? That way we get our staged payments, Bank gets agreed payments from very credit worthy firm, and Bologna get their overdraft extended to the tune of said "loan". All in return for full ownership of the player now of course!

Must be a reason / rules /regulations preventing this, as I am sure NC being a banking/finance expert would have thought of it!

So this is the same wire story that has been linked to here from various British sources. It's not a new story, and it's all come from the same Press Association source with minor rewrites. This is how newspapers work - they don't have enough staff to report individually on each story, so they all pay PA and Reuters etc to report on the less important stories.

Eurosport -

Eurobot: SOUTHAMPTON - More on Gaston Ramirez: it is understood a fee and payment plan has been negotiated for the 21-year-old winger, who has won nine caps for Uruguay and is reported to be commanding a club-record fee of £12 million. Former club Penarol, who own 30% of his registration, are also satisfied by the terms of the agreement.

How good a source is that? I'd be more convinced if they had said something like 'after all' or 'finally, after several false starts'. As it reads I fear it may just be out of date lazy 'journalism' based on yesterday's ,or the day before's, news.

How recent is the Eurosport article?

Did you go to St Margaret's Finishing School for Miserable B@stards or something? Every contribution you've made on this thread has been to tell us the deal won't happen.

Edit: see additional comments, silver. Replied to wrong post because I am stupid at times*.

We all need to slooooow down a moment - ALL the current reports are rehashes of the same tweets/leaks etc and the only one who is talking publically is the agent - who hja his own agenda - either to try and ensure teh deal goes through or stimulate other parties so he he gets his cut when it happens - NOTHING about the status of negotiations has been confirmed by either SAINTS or Bologna - and I suspect that whatever the situation on/off/close/far away, we will not know anything unless we see NCs or the president of Bologna lips movig in sync with the the audio on a reputable broadcasting channel - and that is unlikely.

Whether anyone can point to other deals that go swifty, financed differently, or go slower is irrelevent - come you must know enough by now to know that each is unique and therefore each is normal? Seriously, its a dark art of negotiation. even if its OFF now there is no guarrantee it wont be ON agian tomorrow or teh next day - even if we walk away now, if we dont get something sorted with someone else, and they come back it could be on again - its the way of these things as frustrating as it is.

And anyone looking to make mileage out of a 'failure' is being pathetic - there is no 'failure' in these things, no one does anything wrong, and no one is to blame. It will not happen if they can not agree terms and that is normal as well... and we move on.

We also have to remember we are a club that is now looking to attract a higher quality of player - players who demand interest from bigger clubs ofetn with more money, so we will be played a few times and the negotiations will be more difficult - caving in now and just meeting anyones demands when it does not work for our budget etc sets a dangerous precedent.

Lets all jsut grow sime and enjoy watching what happens?
