SaintRichmond Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 I'd say desperately trying to secure a bank loan against the future payments we offer is a sign that they are both cash-strapped and trying to accept out best terms. As long as they don't try the Greek National, it should be OK
Stattmeister Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 With Simon Peach talking to NA today, hopefully we'll get much more clarity on it - a glint in his eye and a smile with "No comment" will speak volumes and hopefully suggests it's on... if he hints at other tagrets, more than likely off? I doubt we'll get a crystal answer so will leave us more to discuss the nuances of particular words and phrasing. Bang goes another day at work.
Saint Bowood Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Van der Vaart apparantly close to going back to Germany from Spurs - could open their interest again. Tweet this morning - retweeted by James Corden (In a league of his own!!) - "Tottenham have agreed a fee of 20m plus add-ons for Brazilian striker Liandro Damiao"
OldNick Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Long winded transfer deals never seem to be a success. Rudi and Kevin Phillips are 2 that spring to mind. If a player is not bursting to join us their hearts are not in it.

If a player is not bursting to join us their hearts are not in it. Jack Cork, Jay Rodriguez. 2 Recent ones that swung both directions for weeks. I remember days when the Cork deal was off, as he was holding out for WHU. And even on the day he signed, there are leaks on twitter that he'd chosen Forest instead! Jay went back and forth as well. At one point our deal was off as Everton wanted him. We got both in the end though as they both realized that no one would better what we offered, and they were our number 1 targets so we never completely shut the door on them (ala Buttner).

Smirking_Saint Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 As far as so called long winded transfers are concerned shall I chuck in Ronaldo, Modric, Fabregas, RVP, Hazard etc etc etc Some dont take long some do Its stressing as all out but I am sure the powers that be are trying to get the best deal for us, Im not panicing before sept 1st
Bucks Saint Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 I am loving how some of the more 'special' posters completely dismiss as bullshyte, any article or 'tweet' which doesn't fit with what they want to believe. This thread epitomises how far this forum has fallen from grace. when was grace exactly? Nov 2006 only?
Bucks Saint Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Is it safe to come back on here? sorry no. (would have replied earlier but am hiding behind the sofa)

Big Bad Bob Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Is it safe to come back on here? As long as you don't have a wildly polar viewpoint to A N Other!

ToreSF Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Latest from twitter watch is that we have only THREATENED to withdraw our offer for young Gaston unless the deal is completed today.
SaintRichmond Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Have plucky Pompey shown an interest in him yet? Yes, they are arranging the loan for Bologna
Greedyfly Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Latest from twitter watch is that we have only THREATENED to withdraw our offer for young Gaston unless the deal is completed today. Does not count unless you repost with a red font from the person that said it. Otherwise it's only lies and conjecture as opposed to FACT!
OldNick Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Another 'Oldnick' insight!.....he is on record as being keen to join, whatever his reason. is this deal Toast or not then?
Leicestersaint Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 I think today is critical for this one - the odds are swinging against it happening. There are lots of other possible targets but the clock is ticking. I want to see us get some real pace into the side.
Surrey Saint Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Drums fingers on table languidly, yawns, refreshes page. Repeats endlessly . . . .
OldNick Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Jack Cork, Jay Rodriguez. 2 Recent ones that swung both directions for weeks. Those 2 deals did not have the same saga IMO. If Everton wanted Jay and offered the same do you believe he still would have picked us? i dont believe so, and suspect the deal was delayed to see who else came in.
Saint Charlie Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Latest from twitter watch is that we have only THREATENED to withdraw our offer for young Gaston unless the deal is completed today. Well - if cortese has to wait until next week to do the deal im sure he would - Ramirez is apparantly the no 1 target so a few days doesnt make any difference. They key is whether we know we can get him - if we do then we will be happy to wait, if the gut feeling is it will be tough then you have to walk away at some point and switch focus to other targets.

DT Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 only if you type QUIETLY, and don't write anything controversial ... (some of these contributors have over 10,000 posts and are awake 24/7). Moose is an idiot. I hope that helps. I think we'll get him now - was convinced we wouldn't yesterday. As to 'switching to other targets' - I really hope we're doing that at the same time. It's not as if we can only chase one player at a time...
Gingeletiss Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 is this deal Toast or not then? We both know to what you refer, and they will be Nick, I only have to be right the once, and it will happen!

eelpie Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 This has all the hallmarks of a deal not about to happen this side of ever. This has all the hallmarks of either a deal not to happen or a deal to happen.....

Anyway I seem to recall on Sunday afternoon us breaking away v the superstars of Man City and we were 3 then 5 v 2 homing in on their goal to ultimately score a second, even misery guts on MOTD 2 said it was "like the Red Arrows!".

goneawol Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Zahedi explains why it skipped the negotiations with Southampton for Gaston Ramirez. "Not only did the Saints did not want to grant us the surety on two installments from 3.5 million-explained-but the net consideration for the Bologna wouldn't rule of 15 million but of 12.25". And while the Uruguayan continues to heal bruised left foot he might refer back to Tottenham with consequent arrival of Floccari from Lazio, otherwise for the attack there is Meenakshi Longo. qwertySFC Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Very simple solution to this - if we want him just pay all the wonga up front , stop P!!sing about - we have shed loads of cash what difference does it make if we pay 8 - 10 or 12m
yorkiesaint Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 I've heard the club are making an announcement tomorrow..... Always on a Friday ! Noodles, you torture us enough with your avatar!

We might have a bit of money but you don't suddenly decide "Oh do you know what, I will chuck another 4m at this" - Its a lot of money. Yes - if we want him we know their terms and there is still a week to go so anything could happen or it might well be dead.

Let's not forget that until we signed Jay Rodriguez that meagre 4million was equivalent to our record signing!
John Boy Saint Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Exactly. Let's not forget that until we signed Jay Rodriguez that meagre 4million was equivalent to our record signing! and that was made 10 years ago too!!

Im sure Arsenal would have wanted deposit - pay rest on ect ect - but we said the price and it was paid in full for oxo I believe - no difference really
Saint Charlie Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Im sure Arsenal would have wanted deposit - pay rest on ect ect - but we said the price and it was paid in full for oxo I believe - no difference really Depends how much you rate the player and whether you have the money.
John Boy Saint Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Im sure Arsenal would have wanted deposit - pay rest on ect ect - but we said the price and it was paid in full for oxo I believe - no difference really We had the whip hand there for once we had no need or desire to sell Oxo so we could mess about to our hearts content. We have a little of the upper hand here Bologna are skint. Still it leaves the door open to gazumping as we all well know.

itchen_dan Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 tancredipalmeri: Bologna president Guaraldi putting pressure on Southampton for Ramirez:"At this point, their conditions to sign him are unacceptable" tancredipalmeri: I don't think I remember a case like this Ramirez and Bologna, with player announcing to go in morning and club blocking him in afternoon
Saint Garrett Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Hope not. Goal is a ****e source though, like like teamtalk and caughtoffside.
Bucks Saint Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Depends how much you rate the player and whether you have the money. At this rate, I have no doubt that Ramirez is a perfect blend of Modric, Messi and Ronaldo. Oh, and we have the money
Aura Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Gee this is a total bore give the Bologona people a timeline if nothing happens in it tell them to gtfo and move on and get others
Frank's cousin Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 http://www.goal.com/en/news/596/exclusive/2012/08/23/3325154/inter-keen-on-gaston-ramirez?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Uhm... so 11 mil euros + 3 mil add ons = 14, we have offered 15 which means 12.25 net after agents fees etc... will inter offer 'bank guarrantees? I am just gklad it appears we have set of position and its up to Bologna take it or leave it. I knos a few think we should just go for it if we want him, but that why lies madness and the is teh Skate way to oblivion - we want him yes, but we have max value on him and wont go higher - the right way to do business IMHO. We dont get him, we look elsewhere - cheeky 5mil bid for Walcott anyone? Out of contract at end of season so get him cheaper NB. of course the Inter interest is a rumour possibly designed to make us nervous, who knows, cares any more? what wil happen will happen
Saint Charlie Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 At this rate, I have no doubt that Ramirez is a perfect blend of Modric, Messi and Ronaldo. Oh, and we have the money In that case Im sure the deal will happen!
Big Bad Bob Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 Now this is where I am getting confused. Initially I thought it was a dual ownership situation, Bologna owned 70%, Penarol 30% I thought that Saints had agreed a fee with Bologna to buy their share and another fee with Penarol to buy theirs (was it €1.5m??) Now it seems, according to the Italian press, that the 30% is actually a sell on clause and Bologna are unhappy with the €15M bid because they are going to lose a %age to agents and 30% to Penarol. And this is causing Bologna problems..... According to the English press the problem is because Saints won't provide a guarantee on the 2nd part of the 2 part payment (€5m??) that Bologna need to be able to get a loan to get themselves out of their financial ****e!! It's all so ****ing confusing...
