I initially thought maysie was having us on but went to check to see that he did infact reply to someone. Not saying the deal is on or off but it definitely isnt like him to comment on speculation surrounding the club.

It's DEAD, MORT, FINITO. It's on SKY ESPN, and every paper in the land. We'd have had more chance getting Pompey a loan than this version Italiano Bologna. Why hasn't Liebherr bought out Bologna and transfered the entire squad to us. Crazier things have happened, haha hoho heehee.

This is like a bloody soap opera this transfer, 68 pages of 'it's going to happen!' then 5 minutes later 'someone has tweeted the deal is off'. Should give eastenders a call.....

The soap opera is entirely in fans' minds. All that is actually happening is probably a fairly normal negotiation which may or may not end up in us signing Ramirez. All the drama has been entirely fabricated by impatient fans.

Southampton FC never responds to speculation so for sibley to do so is interesting

He will be fired IMO. Probably at this minute is locked in the police cell of SMS.

Which is why the club dont comment on speculation. Too many can't cope with the fact that some deals go through and some don't - and guess what? it's nobody's fault.

I'd hope I could come with a better wind up than that.

Simon Peach and Peter White both reported very similar things at almost the same time, clearly tipped off by someone close to Saints...opposite view to Bologna and Saints have their own agenda but interesting and by no means deal off.

Peter White ‏@peterwhite_1

Saints deal for Ramirez nearly done Fee agreed but there is still a problem because cash strapped Bologna want all of fee. More.. #saintsfc

Peter White ‏@peterwhite_1

Bologna trying to secure loan and pay back as Saints pay them. NC not happy and set to give ultimatum, agree now or deal off! #saintsfc

Peter White ‏@peterwhite_1

@supmarkus Bologna on brink cash wise and need the £12million just to ensure survival #saintsfc

Simon Peach ‏@SimonPeach

#SaintsFC & Bologna have agreed a fee & payment plan for Ramirez. The hold up is because the Rossoblù are trying to sort out their finances.

Simon Peach ‏@SimonPeach

#SaintsFC have also sorted out agreement with Ramirez's former club Penarol for their 30%. Hold up is Bologna messing around with finances.

Simon Peach ‏@SimonPeach

If #SaintsFC get messed around by Bologna & the deal collapses, there are other targets on the radar. I think it'll go through, though.

Simon Peach ‏@SimonPeach

Ramirez negotiations "definitely ended" & #SaintsFC looking elsewhere says his agent. I'd suggest games are being played & it's still on.

Sorry Charlie but who are these guys and why should I believe them above the rest of the media world?

Sorry Charlie but who are these guys and why should I believe them above the rest of the media world?

Both are football Journalists based in the South. Simon Peach from Press Association posts on here occassionally and has a line into Sibley.

Think its strange both are saying almost same thing (posted at nearly the same time) suggests it was fed by Saints, like the Bologna journalists are given info by sources at their club.

If its true or not Im not sure, but most likely has been given to them by SFC so at worst they (SFC) are trying to show that its not our "fault" if the deal doesn't happen and at best SFC are confident it will be overcome.

As for the post above, Peach has never tweeted things just to please the fans...he will post the info he is given, as the Bologna Journalists are.

Both sides telling a different story so hard to see truth beneath the agendas.

Because they're telling us what we want to hear, silly.

Its more likely the Saints end are telling the truth. Bologna are hardly likely to post - we're on the brink of bankruptcy and need to sell and get all the cash upfront to stave off the bank.

Simon Peach is a Press Association journalist, a Saints fan and is quite matey with those in the Saints media department. Compared to many journalists, he is reliable for Saints news.

Am I the only one genuinely excited about the prospect of signing Ramirez?

As far as I can tell the deal would never got off the ground if Italy was not in such financial difficulties - it's a bargain in footballing terms.

Where else can you buy a 21-year old international who has played in Europe for £12m? Oxo cost a lot more relatively and totally unproven at any level above League 1!

I can't pull myself away from looking to see if he has signed - and sure it's like on a matchday when you can't get a commentary or a stream - blink and has the score changed - F5!

I just wish all the personal abuse (not really banter is it?) would disappear it's so childish for grown men to act like petulent children because they don't agree! What next cyber warriors sending PM's to warn them of an impending visit with a baseball bat or even a gun? This used to be a good forum with banter without all the abuse.

Same - really hope we get it done. With Phillips or another winger too then we would have a quality attacking lineup. If the CB we get is half decent then should have a great season.

you have heard what you want to hear and it is dead so why are you still lurking on this thread.

The Fact is a deal isnt ever really dead until he signs for someone else. Think Billy Sharp and Jay Rod both signed after initial bids were rejected and then followed up 6 months later. Although in this case I hope it doesnt get to that as it will be the biggest thread ever.

I'm genuinely excited by him. That said I didnt know who he was till two weeks ago. It would be great if he signs, but not a disaster if he doesnt, there are other very, very good players available for €15 and PL wages.

Errr, no. Hence 68 pages of people working themselves up into a frenzy.

The daft scale of this thread should give you the answer you seek. ;)

It's the usual blend of emotions, there should be no doubt of the type of impact this guy could have but the mixture of disbelief, aggresion, amusement and defensive behaviour just shows that even the most negative of people on here dearly want a coup of this type to happen.

Can you please provide evidence of where I've said I want the deal to collapse?

What's that? You can't? Thought so. Jog on.

Everyone knows the stumbling block is they're on their a*se and need as much money as possible up front. Hasn't the agent even said as much?

My level of excitement about a transfer normally involves a bit of daydreaming about how he'll fit into the team, and the sort of improvement it'll bring to our chances and reputation.

If he signs, it'll be a massive step forward on a number of fronts. First, he's a gateway to a better quality of player. Then there is the improvement we'll get in the team. Finally, NC comes out of this smelling of roses - and other teams won't perceive us as a soft touch.

Essential signing for this precise moment in time.

Not true, if they gave complete transparency then the majority of people would be happy with that. This way there are far more people unhappy.

I'm on page 85 - why do people keep quoting pages in the 60's?

Because these matters are commercially sensitive. You wouldn't show your poker hand if there was a big pile of cash at stake, would you? We have to trust the powers-that-be to do the right thing

Posted

Why has every signing this window dragged on so much. Jay Rod, Clyne and this. Plus you could include Buttner in that. It's one thing being precautious and not being mugged off by the selling club, but NC just seems to want everything on his terms with no room for movement. I assume that's why we missed out on Butland and maybe Hooper last year. We need a conclusion to this deal now, if your not willing to pay more put it to bed and spend the next 9 days getting the right players in. The last thing we want is panic buying on deadline day and getting even more conned.

So you want the club to keep us informed of every element of any potential transfer NEGOTIATIONS that transpire?

Naive, very naive...

It clear that you have never been involcved in any contract negotiations involving any significant amounts of cash then (except possibly once and you were sacked shortly afterwards).

I like them young. :uhoh:

Is this gonna be anything to do with Ramirez I wonder?

tancredipalmeri: Careful to next tweets, because they bring - in my humble opinion - lot of questions. I will alternate english and italian

EDIT: I dont think it is.

TBH I would be just as excited about Adam Johnson. On another level than Phillips. Wolves asking silly money for Jarvis. Who are the alternative targets should it fall through?

Im on 68 - whats happening on 85? Has he signed yet? Has Sibley been fired? Did we beat Wigan?

Yes we beat them! On 87 you can read how Ramirez scored the winner!!! Oh and we had to turn people away from the ticket office who had queued for hours too!!! IT WAS FANTASTIC

Tell you one thing if the players or staff ever visit here - they will love this!

What a distraction from us all *****ing about player X or Y - no pressure from us for Saturday!!

Hardly any new threads - just 69-pages of this diatribe - quoting italian press, italian agents, the press generally, twitter comments - surprised no one has visited Facebook to find out his inside leg measurement!

I think Phillips has lots of potential though. Would have been pleased just to get him before this Ramirez link came up.
