Yes, the management team involved in two high-profile very public utter screw-ups is conducting two or three very smooth and secretive defensive transfers in private...

Unfortunately, happy-clappies, this is the REAL world where you dont control the gob of the player or the selling club, and there is a strong track record of all of our activites going very public, successful or not. J-Rod was known for about 6 months, FFS.

Here we go again. You moan about people having a pop and your first response is to start name calling.

What ****es me off is that you and a few others keep trotting out the 'we knew about so and so' for months. There are probably alot more potential targets that we never hear about. A discreet enquiry is made, parent club refuses point blank, end of story. Why is it so hard to believe that we don't know everything that goes on behind the scenes? There are plenty of surprises around the world every transfer window. But no, it's easier just to believe we're being run by idiots because what you believe should be happening isn't happening to your own personal timetable.

In that video he scores at the San Siro against a very good AC Milan side, looks composed on the ball and makes a number of good dribbles (many of which end because he is fouled alot).

So I can name some crap players that have scored at great venues. Please read my posts fully before you try to badger them.

Lets hope that its just games still being played. Unlikely to pull out. Could see us popping up with another offer towards the end of the window if not. Bologna need the money.

I just dont understand how the deal can collapse because they have financial difficulties. Surely they'd rather have some money than no money!?

What a load of old balls. Still, a centre back should have been, and hopefully is, a priority. Otherwise Saints' continual blindness in this area will continue and we'll go down. The defence really needs bolstering!

How is it "blindness"? Adkins has publicly stated he wants one or two centre backs in before the window closes. Just because we know about talks for Ramirez and Phillips, it does not mean at the same time they aren't in talks for centre backs.

True. Let's hope. Was really meaning the rather long-term aversion we have to signing defenders I guess, through previous managers.

Sheesh it's easy.

1) Saints have agreed a fee

2) Saints paying €10m now and €5m next year

3) Bologna are trying to get a loan based on the €5M (for whatever reason, mainly because, like most of Italy, they are cash strapped!!)

4) Bologna's bank want a guarantee that we will pay the €5M

5) Cortese can't/won't give that guarentee (I'm an honourable man, my word is my bond etc. etc.)

6) Saints gave Bologna 24hrs to sort their **** out

7) Bologna haven't

Again - where have Peter White and Simon Peach got their info from....surely a source very close to Saints...

Also interesting that Ramirez agent makes it clear there are no other current offers. Sure the player isn't happy about losing a huge contract and him his slice...

Yeah, wow, I get abuse and I dare to respond in kind....

But you never admit to it mate, always someone else first or someone else with a problem. Yes my post contained sarcasm, I believe your post warranted it. Don't believe I posted any abuse. Then again what do I expect, you never change.

When is the announcement about him going to Spurs?

Have you had a look at their forum? They don't want him! lol. They view him as a bargain basement replacement for Modric who is unable to play in the centre and would be nothing more than a squad player to provide cover for Lennon and Bale.

One poster there said that not signing him would be like dodging a bullet as they had with Bryan Ruiz!

And there was us thinking he was the 2nd coming of King Kev!

You mean after one of the Top Four buy him ??? Within hours ?

Have you read the quotes from his Agent or would that ruin your argument?

"The player was very happy with the offer received, but now he will probably remain at Bologna.

"Tottenham is an option to be rejected at this time because they are a long way short of Bologna's demands.

"Liverpool? They have never presented a concrete offer."

Now wanting to be pedantic but neither of them are top 4 sides...

This is making me chuckle now...

reluctantnicko: @Zoggers87 Read the quotes. It's a bluff. U want player, player wants u. So if Bolgona don't sell they're stuffed. Picture emerging?

This does make sense. its all reaching a point where they have no options - no other clubs on the horizon...if they want the money....

Simon Peach ‏@SimonPeach

Ramirez negotiations "definitely ended" & #SaintsFC looking elsewhere says his agent. I'd suggest games are being played & it's still on.

Alan Nixon on Twitter says this is no change from a couple of hours ago:

@NeilJacksonSU @SimonPeach Said coule of hours back. Usual transfer double talk. Stick to basics. U want him. He wants u.

Looks to me as if Simon Peach has tweeted using the '#saintsfc' and the result has been that @backpage have truncated the quote to become:

Southampton have pulled out of a deal to sign Gaston Ramirez. #SaintsFC

Then Sky have produced their story from that.

If I understand it all correctly, we are just waiting on Bologna to tie up a deal with a financial institution to be able to accelerate the second part of the money that we will be paying them next year. Ramirez's agent and Saints are putting pressure on Bologna to hurry this process along.

What I don't understand is how putting on this pressure can help - surely it is a case of Bologna being subject to however long it takes whatever financial institution they are using to accelerate the debt in this way to agree to do so. All I can guess is that by putting pressure on Bologna they put pressure on the finance provider to move quickly if they want the benefits of loaning this money themselves. However, in the current financial climate I wonder if that is appropriate.
