Minty Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 The latest according to Simon Peach: #SaintsFC & Bologna have agreed a fee & payment plan for Ramirez. The hold up is because the Rossoblù are trying to sort out their finances. #SaintsFC have also sorted out agreement with Ramirez's former club Penarol for their 30%. Hold up is Bologna messing around with finances.

NC not happy and set to give ultimatum, agree now or deal off! #saintsfc Zoggers87: @peterwhite_1 As in Bologna will take out a loan as they need cash and will pay back based on our installment payments? Gut feel on it all? peterwhite_1: @Zoggers87 Spot on. Not sure but hope it goes through because very versatile player. But NC doesn't suffer fools. Frank's cousin Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 If the tweet I quoted was truthful ( big if I guess) then the amount of fee was settled its just some guarantees are wanted by bologna then that suggests cortese is being stubborn and not wanting to give in We also obviously wanted and basically agreed deals with buttner and that fell through Maybe as suggested in another thread the club should give some basic updates about things in the public domain Dont think its a question of being stobborn. If we are to believe all teh conflicting tweets - how the feck do we make sense of thhose rumours? - then it appears quite simple rather than complx 1. saints and ramirez have agreed a package - tick 2. saints and bologna have agreed a fee - tick 3. saints have agreed a fee to teh 3rd party - tick 4. What appeared to be a stumbling block over the payement schedule has been agreed somehow - tick 5. BUT Bologna want to boorow against the deffered payments so as to use the 'total' now in replacing players or simply just surviving.... and THEIR bank wants some guarrantee from saints that the deferred payments will be happen ... cortese not being stubborn, but perhaps it is tricky to rovide such a guarrantee as the additinal payments will come form next seasons revenue and we dont know what that will be - or if its form the Liebherr trust etc, then its likely to be difficult given the confidential nature of these things... so suspect its less about being stubborn and more about practical challenges NB. the above asumes that there is actually anything factual in any of the tweets etc.... Saint Charlie Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 The whole loan thing would tie in with the Italian reports about bank guarentees...if they were basing being able to repay a loan on our installment payments then they would want to be very sure that we could pay them... S-Clarke Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 Basically, they're financially screwed in simple terms. The money from this deal will help them a hell of a lot. So instead of us paying them up front, they are getting a loan against our agreed fee - which they'd then pay back in pattern with our installments.
Minty Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 So, on the face of it, we've done little wrong, they are simply pushing for more money sooner because of their own financial situation.

Weston Saint Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 I have tried to put this all together from the many RUMOURS on this thread. It appears that the fee with all parties has been agreed and the contract with the player agreed. The stumbling block appears to be the method of payment and guarantees. It has been suggested to me privately that Mr Cortese considers himself honest and a man of honour and expects everyone to treat him the same. He may have been affronted at the suggestion that he needs to get a bank guarantee for any future payment. If Bologna, as has been hinted, want the guarantee to go to the bank to loan more money that is understandable. If it is still also down to the initial payment and period of instalments I doubt we will move too far away from market practice. That might create a dangerous precedent. I cannot see this going down to the wire. We need a quality player for that position. If it is not done by Friday we will likely end our interest and move on. Shame but not the end of the earth. Avenue Saint Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 So all those based on no solid information quick to point finger at Cortese, seriously, grow up. We are run with professional, reliable and most importantly ambitious hands. Get behind it! If we get the boy great, if we don't, we get someone else. The money is obviously there. This info especially for those spouting crap in those pathetic, there is no money threads going back a few months... Stay patient, for what it's worth, imho all is on course. S-Clarke Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 So all Bolonga need are guarantees that we would meet our repayments, so that they will be allowed to take out a loan. Think of it from our point of view. If we went to take out a loan, but we had no income, they would tell us to do one. But if we said we'd be getting money in x amount of time, they'd want guarantee before they produce the loan. Once they get the guarantee the loan will be produced. Maybe it's difficult to put a guarantee in future payments though, but I'd have thought the PL TV deal is pretty nailed on in terms of what we'll receive in say 6 months, 12 months etc.
jawillwill Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 So, just so I understand, they need to get a loan before we can give them money?
Saint Charlie Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 Only thing I don't understand is this: If Bologna have no money and need some fast the easiest way is to sell a player like Ramirez. They have offered him around and for various reasons inclucding their terms there hasnt been anyone who has signed him. Saints are interested and fix up a deal. However - this loan business is strange. If we sign him and pay x upfront and x in instalments then Bologna have a nice sum now and guarenteed money over the terms of the agreement. If they want to get a loan and pay it off with our installments then great, its up to them. However, if they don't get this loan and that scuppers the deal how are they any better off? They will have just walked away from approx 12m over probably 3 years - how does this benefit them at all? If they can't get the loan surely they would have more reason to sell the player? Dig Dig Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 So Saints are not trying to bully Bologna at all as per some suggestions on here? Bologna are basically in a bit of a financial pickle and this is adding another layer of complication to a deal with probably too many parties involved as it is. St.Patrik Posted 22 August, 2012 Share Posted 22 August, 2012 Just look at Inter Milan - sold Silva and Ibrahimovic to PSG - 7 days after Silva had signed a new contract with them. The money is gone from Italian football at the mo and Bologna could never ever say no to this kind of money and NC knows this. Getting a loan with Saints money as security - sounds like really dangerous stuff to be involved with. But still think this deal will happen now.
