Jesus Christ. Read this thread earlier and it seemed fine. What happened to turn it into an apocalypse thread? It's got more infighting than The French football team.

That's the thing.

Nothing has changed, everything is still the same as it was yesterday. So I have no idea why it's turned like this.

People are acting as if this has been a month long Saga, when in fact it's only been 5 days.

It's not the norm, but it does happen and quite often.

If we want him, we'll have to and clubs can do multiple signings at any one time.

Confused by the general thoughts that only one transfer can be done at a time. We don't just have Cortese negotiating. He'll have the final say, but we have resources.

Loose?! You are not really a teacher are you :)

Yes u do teacher u phoned me up at 1 in morning last night to tell me you were cross with sfc71 or whatever he's called lol

#Ramirez update: Saints now seem so far but still in the race. Bologna is trying to improve the fee: THFC, LFC and MCFC also interested

so many different version of events out there hard to know what is the truth. all coming from italy press so it seems bologna are deliberately leaking out info to try and force saints hand or attract new interest.

Bologna clearly messing us around, to start an auction in their intention. I hope we have someone as a back up who can come in quickly. seems like every club we have dealt with this summer have been really difficult with us.

Good teams don't want to lose good players. They know Prem teams have money and want as much as they can. Is frustrating but I'm sure we will get some good players in whatever happens with Ramirez - its just great to see the class of player we are going for.

I know I'll get slated for this by some on here but doesn't that tell you something about the way we must be during the fee negotiation stage. It isnt the first time this has happened this summer or last summer....

I think Cortese needs to loosen the straps a bit and be a little more lenient and easy going with demands rather than being so rigid. I'm not gonna bother listing the names but you all know what players I'm referring to...

its one thing saying its great to be linked to top players, but if this drags on too long we will miss other players. thats a fact. there comes a certain point when you just have to accept that to many things are aginst you. i think this is the case here

It isn't a fact though. You can be in talks with various players at the same time. That is a fact.

It's hard to be sure if that's what happens as we don't sit in the board room, but I think it's clear that NC tries to drive a hard fee - in terms of outgoing and incoming transfers.

I know that we priced Puncheon out of a move, as we wouldn't budge from £1m. No one would meet it, but we wouldn't budge - and we'll never ever, ever, ever get £1m for him now, maybe not even 500k. So what you say may be right in some areas, but I think he's prudent. He doesn't want to put the club into financial trouble so he won't ever spend what we don't have.

I don't believe we are massively loaded, I think we operate a policy of spend what we generate - and we may generate just about enough to tie up Gaston, but possibly not all the fee up front. That's my opinion anyway, may be wrong - but I think in some areas he's entitled to drive a hard bargain as he's looking after this club, but other times he needs to just loosen it slightly.

I'm sure we're perfectly capable of going after more than one player at a time.

NOt slating you - fair assumption but... We dont know any facts - before it was all about we had agreed the fee - all very positive, just working out payment details - etc Now rumour is (and I stress rumour) some bank guarrantee bollix etc - and that others re interested - If there is any truth in any of the twitter gossip

, then it appears we have been dicked around - I suspect it looks like their agents or reps releasing the other club stuff either to encourage other bids for more cash OR force our hand on the payment schedule - we simply dont know the details - we may have bene flexible in negotion say offering more up front but less overall etc or more spread over a longer period - thats all NORMAL in these things - if we cant reach agreement so be it - we move on to another target.

I suspect if we don not get hoim it will be because he was NEVER going to come here, just us being used to flush out bigger bids - or simply that the deal did not not make sense from our perspective financially - and lets remember the reason why other clubs often do these things in an apparently smoother way is because they seem often to sling more money at it - and we all know where that leads - I like the fact that we have our valuation, we made an offer, it was accepted but when the goal posts are shhifted we dont budge

I don't think Saints are angels judging by the committee & Nicola's attitude towards people in general considering how we dealt with Adkins leaving S****horpe, alleged reports of how we approached Philips & the Clyne deal but there we go. If it saves money it's good but I don't know if such deals are possible in a more ethical manner. I just think we have lots of targets but the manner in which we approach them may not be the rose tinted optimism many fans imagine. Since the club rightly keep matters private, it's harder to prove but I'm fairly certain we aren't a bunch of samaritans & bankers aren't known for their empathy. Just saying.

We run a tight ship but I am under no illusions. Let's see how long Adkins fares this season. I hope he gets a chance contrary to reports of close season matters.

It's weird how there is hardly anything about this is in the English press considering the rate at which info seems to be getting to Italian journos

I'd imagine it's because Bolonga sources are leaking it to the Italian media. They have no ability to really leak it in the English press.

Objectively speaking, if NC does put his foot down on his as well as the further deal it will give clubs the message that we won't be dicked around. Presenting a take our fair offer or leave it stance with backup history. Ultimatley this will benefit the club. I voted yes BTW. We are clearly still the favourites and I think he will leave for someone having already sold his house.

Of course, but there is definitely a game plan and motive from Bologna to play it out in this way. I think we just need to put our offer down, leave them to do their thing and then wait a see If we're still on towards 31st.

Zoggers87: @Mousse81 Is this an update from Bologna? Why would other teams want to pay more?

Mousse81: @Zoggers87 Bologna and player's staff too. Player's staff today absolutely not confident on the deal.
