derry Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Ramirez probably has the higher "upside" but Ince and Phillips probably have a safer "downside." I'd lean toward Ince and Phillips but it needs to be a quick switch in focus and a "no farting about" negotiation because "time's-a-passing" for both Blackpool and us. If I were a betting man, with the Liverpool and Spurs shadow in the wings after two weekend losses, I'd stick my money on us getting just Phillips. A little bit less in the long run might work out to be a whole lot more in the long run. I think Ince could be the real star in time.
derry Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Where has this ince thing come from? We aren't signing him IMO. Just an alternative.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Something is going on. There is just something fishy about the whole deal. reluctantnicko: @Jayrodfan2 @ConnorArmstrong Do u think u r going to walk away a potential 12m deal for a player and let a bit of drama put u off? reluctantnicko: @ConnorArmstrong @Jayrodfan2 U don't go in this high and hard and walk away. Posture City. reluctantnicko: @adkinsisourking @ConnorArmstrong @Jayrodfan2 U don't go from the high level of confidence u had yesterday to this brink of despair stuff. reluctantnicko: @adkinsisourking @ConnorArmstrong @Jayrodfan2 Just the chat from Italy. No distress flares back in Blighty. -------------------------------------- peterwhite_1: @ConnorArmstrong Nothing on Ramirez as yet, could be keeping it quiet because of what has happened with Buttner #saintsfc Fishy? Bloody hell Pompey in for him then? wouldnt put it past those cheats!
Saint Charlie Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 #bolognafc chairman guaraldi: 'is it all over with #southampton for gaston #ramirez? these stories are never all over' Still a deal to be done...
brett24 Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Everyone relax it's a done deal, what a signing.
Saint Charlie Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 (edited) Another tweet from local Bologna journalist @DL_Corriere guaraldi tiene aperta la porta per ramirez al southampton: 'certe storie non finiscono mai' #bolognafc #calciomercato Translates as: Guaraldi (Bologna Chairman) leaves door open for Southamton, 'certain stories never end' Also: to all my #saints followers:the price is ok (€15mln) but not the terms.bolognafc wants be guarateed about the payments.ramirez still waits Edited 21 August, 2012 by Saint Charlie
hypochondriac Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Just an alternative. OK thanks. Can't imagine Blackpool would let us have both!
S-Clarke Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 #bolognafc chairman guaraldi: 'is it all over with #southampton for gaston #ramirez? these stories are never all over' Still a deal to be done... There is - it's just a waiting game. Don't expect anything imminently, this is something that will probably play until the deadline. In my opinion anyway. Nixon's take on it is interesting, he obviously has a very firm English based source connected to us that fed him the details re: Jay Rod and Clyne. Maybe we should lock this thread...cause the lack of news will only wind people up!
Saint Garrett Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Nixon has deserved for us to take what ha says about us seriously as he's had it spot on with us all summer. As he says we're not going to pull out after all this. Still think he will be signed by the weekend. Hopefully he'll be available for the weekend
Mr Saints Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Reckon this will go through on the last day of the window when Bologna realise they won't get a better offer.
thorpie the sinner Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 well if THEVMAN is back, calm, collected and swearing, thats good enough for me!!!!
The9 Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Buttner himself has said that Man U expressed an interest one month ago That was about the time that Saints were expected to complete the deal, after the "mysterious" third party involvement Don't you at least smell a tiny rat ?? Buttner deal was already in the process of dying on 10 July, that's more like 6 weeks than a month ago...
itchen_dan Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 @DL_corriere: to my #saintsfc followers: price is ok (€15mln) but not the terms, bologna wants guaratee about the payments.ramirez waits

Saint Charlie Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 (edited) Further confirmation from Bologna journalist @DL_Corriere: @Zoggers87 we guess bolognafc chairman wants so much that money and he will be so upset if ramirez stays I asked if they want to sell and he replied: @Zoggers87 more or less.. but he cannot say it Nixon said this...They want to sell....we know the terms...deal to be done. Let's relax and it will play out, big deals like this worth haggling.....now will Phillips return for Blackpool tonight? Edited 21 August, 2012 by Saint Charlie

Thedelldays Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 So basically, nothing has changed what so ever. We are where we were 3 days ago. As i thought. Apart from some hillarious tantrums
S-Clarke Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Apart from some hillarious tantrums Saintsweb wouldn't be the same without them.
Bearsy Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Maybe we should lock this thread...cause the lack of news will only wind people up! Agreed! Next one to post with anything less than definite news... is a bender.
itchen_dan Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Guaraldi and freezes all back, "Ramirez?'s Not over yet" Negotiations with the Southampton jumped sigh of relief from the fans rossoblu, but coming back from holidays, Guaraldi disassemble the enthusiasm with a few words: "It is not over yet." It is clear that the company will try to sell all but Gaston, as is also clear that against Chievo Pioli can not deploy the Uruguayan playmaker and lacks even a hint of value. A beginning immediately uphill for technical native of Parma will have to do with the little available, at least in Verona, waiting Floccari.
derry Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Over the years the Premier clubs have imported a whole host of foreign players with big reputations for megabucks, on big salaries and in many cases these have turned out to be big disappointments, difficult to shift and eventually sold abroad for a fraction of the outlay. I just hope if he signs he's not one of these.

Brinkmanship. Who blinks first. If it gets to the deadline then they will blink, as they know that will be the best they can get.

Thedelldays Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 So that sets alarm bells ringing surely..why is he so keen to get rid? £££££££ Or euros (can't find symbol)
Saint Charlie Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 So that sets alarm bells ringing surely..why is he so keen to get rid? Money
itchen_dan Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 So that sets alarm bells ringing surely..why is he so keen to get rid? Because he said the other day that he was not happy with the way that Ramirez blurted it out initially.
S-Clarke Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 So that sets alarm bells ringing surely..why is he so keen to get rid? Money. They want the cash. Gaston has by all accounts burnt his bridges there. They hold the cards at the moment, but the nearer the deadline approaches we will have the say (unless no one else comes in)
Thedelldays Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 I think the deal is nearly done But te Italians are giving it the big one to show that they are in the driving seat
Winchester Red Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 We don't need to close this thread... We just need to open a second thread for people to post ACTUAL NEWS on, and let the bed wetters use this one for wrist slashing on

Ohio Saint Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Italian article via Babel Fish: Ramirez to sign banana bottle top wants $15M in sandwich with anchovies.
Saint Charlie Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 I think the deal is nearly done But te Italians are giving it the big one to show that they are in the driving seat Trying to send the message to their fans that they don't want to sell etc....
THEVMAN Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 well if THEVMAN is back, calm, collected and swearing, thats good enough for me!!!!I dont want to come across as a thug or a lout infact i would consider myself fairly intellectual.

MOSaint Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 It also appears that Bologna are trying to bring in a player but can't go ahead with it until Ramirez is sold.
CB Fry Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 We don't need to close this thread... We just need to open a second thread for people to post ACTUAL NEWS on, and let the bed wetters use this one for wrist slashing on This is the single biggest bed wetting post on the entire thread. You'll know if/when he signs. You'll know. No need to grizzle about a bit of speculation and rumour mongering.
Giordano Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Nixon has deserved for us to take what ha says about us seriously as he's had it spot on with us all summer. As he says we're not going to pull out after all this. Still think he will be signed by the weekend. Hopefully he'll be available for the weekend hes got an injured right calf so he will not be playing anytime soon.
CanadaSaint Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 It also appears that Bologna are trying to bring in a player but can't go ahead with it until Ramirez is sold. What's the Italian "window"?
derry Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Brinkmanship. Who blinks first. If it gets to the deadline then they will blink, as they know that will be the best they can get. There is no way we should be going anywhere near the deadline with this one. We need strengthening and don't need an eleventh hour failure to sign Ramirez leaving us weaker than we could have been had we signed an alternative.
Thedelldays Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 What's the Italian "window"? One that faces backwards so they can see while they reverse
Avenue Saint Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 I thought the press in this country were bad, GOD ALMIGHTY!! These Italians could send you loopy... Anyways, I reckon it's on. Funny reading the bed wetters mid thread, I wonder if it's something exclusive to Saints, or maybe all clubs have an element of the damp nappy brigade...
Give it to Ron Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Money. They want the cash. Gaston has by all accounts burnt his bridges there. They hold the cards at the moment, but the nearer the deadline approaches we will have the say (unless no one else comes in) Yep I get that but...if a replacement is easy to find for the money we are paying is it really that good a deal for us? Wouldn't we be better spending this on the likes of Phillips, Curtis Davis, Caulker?
thorpie the sinner Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 I dont want to come across as a thug or a lout infact i would consider myself fairly intellectual. I would never entertain such a thought, I ws merely referring to the fact that you swore in your first post back from holiday lol! To be fair, you did have a point, it's been wrist slitting central on here today! Good to have you back!
MOSaint Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 What's the Italian "window"? Closes august 31st.
bridge too far Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 What's the Italian "window"? Finestra HTH
mulletsaint Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 Trying to work out what your second swear word is?! Lol, so was I.

We need strengthening and don't need an eleventh hour failure to sign Ramirez leaving us weaker than we could have been had we signed an alternative. If we want him, we'll have to and clubs can do multiple signings at any one time. Confused by the general thoughts that only one transfer can be done at a time. We don't just have Cortese negotiating. He'll have the final say, but we have resources.
derry Posted 21 August, 2012 Posted 21 August, 2012 If we want him, we'll have to and clubs can do multiple signings at any one time. Confused by the general thoughts that only one transfer can be done at a time. We don't just have Cortese negotiating. He'll have the final say, but we have resources. If the alternative was still available that could happen but all the eggs in one basket could backfire. I saw Uruguay Olympic team three times and the only one that I noticed was Suarez probably because I knew of him. That team underperformed and failed to qualify and I don't recollect Ramirez standing out. I'm happy to pass on this one.
