You plank. 'Arry is no magician when it comes to transfers.

Quite right and even when he gets the players in he generally bankrupts the club as well as allegedly keeping a bit for himself!

We have been there before, have we forgotten how quickly what it feels like! I trust cortese to do what is right and support him whether there is or isnt a deal here!

People are speculating using the previous transfers that went wrong as evidence and ignoring the ones that went right.

We keep transfers quiet if we get the option. People have no idea how long the ones that went right took to complete

No they're not, but as you say we don't know how long those one took, and what issues there were. I do remember the Jack Cork one seemed to take a while though.

But as I keep saying Bolgna need the money and Cortese knows that! So what he is doing is right by protecting the clubs interests and not going for a deal that doesnt suit us!

You'll have to shout Halo or dress your point in Stone Island... you don't seem to be getting through :)

If you're naive to think that a Bipolar disorder is just something that is suffered by those that don't agree with you then I think you need to take a good, long, hard look at yourself, and grow up.

This is absolutely the most laughable post in ages. Think I'm having a pop at you do you? Hit a nerve?

My comment wasn't aimed at you or anyone specific and I believe if you read back through my posts on this thread I don't really have an opinion other than it's pointless getting worked up over speculation, either positive or negative. And therein lies the reason I used Bipolar disorder to make a point. Some people on here get so over excited the moment a bit of possible ITK info is posted or something is written in the press. They take it as gospel whether it's positive or negative and we get overblown reactions as a result. If it's negative then some people, including you, jump to the conclusion that there's something rotten in the club or that NC's an idiot. Sod the fact that there are many parties involved in transfer negotiations and that the problem could lie elsewhere.

Yeah it's always our transfers that go tits up. That ignores all the successful ones we've made. No other clubs ever have this problem. ******, I'm sure if someone looked into it there'd be plenty of examples of similar things happening elsewhere it's just that we dont take notice as we're Saints fans.

Some people on here are so up and down it's unbelievable! And I don't take depression lightly, my father has suffered from it for years and for the last 20 or so years so have I. Don't see me wallowing about in my own misery on here though do you? Oh and no it ain't the anti-depressants. Been there, done that. If the doc offers you any my advice would be to steer clear.

And to think, there were plenty on this forum on Friday acting as if it was a done deal.

Not sure if I was one of these on Friday, but I think it'll go through. The only evidence I've seen that it won't is people losing their sh!t over it.

Do want it wrapped up though, as does any Sotonian with work commitments, I'd wager ;)

A well known connection to Southampton FC is flying into Italy next friday morning, the same day the transfer windown shuts. Make of that what you will.

This has been very amusing watching so many people get so wound up about a possible transfer. Don't get me wrong i would be delighted if it happens but i won't be slitting my wrists if it doesn't.

As for a well known connection to SFC flying into Italy next Friday....well i can not see it having anything to do with this possible signing. We either wrap this up in the next 48 hours or it will not happen IMHO. Cannot see it being dragged out to next Friday.

Seems to me nothing has changed at all in the past few days.

13 of the most sensible words I have seen in a while!! You will be hounded off here for being too rational though lol

Not that sensible really, as none of us have a clue what is going on behind the scenes. A huge amount may have happened, just not been made public yet (if at all).

Right, for those of you who seem to have misunderstood my little jibe, lack a sense of humour or suffer paranoid delusions, this was what I was trying to get across with my Bipolar comment. Thought it was pretty obvious, but there you go, perils of a web forum.

If it wasn't aimed at anyone specific, I question whether using a serious mental illness such as Bipolar for jollies is such a good idea, especially considering the experience you have with it.

By the way, you do realise I am a massive NC supporter don't you? However, I also realise the man can do wrong, and all through his tenure I believe his issues have been around transfers and concluding the deals needed. I have never, ever said that NC is an idiot, and this is where people like you over-reacting to my assertions create issues. If you don't agree with what I say then put me on ignore, I may do to you considering your immature and ignorant view of mental diseases is actually quite offensive.

Not true. Liverpool paid £35m up front for Carroll, as did Chelsea and Torres.

1) No. Even when a transfer fee is a single sum, instead of 'add-ons', that sum is almost always (ie over 90% of cases) paid over 2-3 years, 25/25/50% instalments. Source - Chairman of a PL team.

2) The Torres transfer was officially for an 'undisclosed' sum, although its generally accepted that it was for £50m it has never been officially disclosed, and the payment terms therefore certainly haven't.

So even in light of the above, there is no way you could possibly know that unless you are on the board of CFC or LFC.

IIRC you said you weren't going to get excited... I do like the way your ruling negative / why me side won the day though.

Plank.

I'm not being negative. Why is questioning someone 'crying' on Friday over this negative? As has been proven it was all much too premature. Yeah but waiting a bit before celebrating too much is negative to some people...

Bologna journalist saying that the issue with the full payment v installments is that Bologna sold a player to Espanyol of couple of years ago and didnt receive the second installement because Espanyol sold the player to Roma and just didn't pay Bologna what they had agreed.

Think we will somehow have to pay more upfront or convince Bolgna we are trustworthy.

Not true. When the transfer took place Liverpool negotiated a deal with Newcastle that would be '£15m less' than Torres to Liverpool. This was due to the fact that Liverpool had to find a replacement, and Newcastle wanted the money up front. Source for this was Mike Ashley. There were no add-ons with these deals, it was straight cash, lump sum.

I don't have any problem with you, or you having your own view. I believe that your assertion that the problems with transfers lie with Saints, overlooks many other possibilities. I don't have a problem with you or anyone else specifically on here. I have a problem with people getting uppity when they think I'm having a dig at them when there's nothing in a post to make them think such a thing.

My comment was based on people swinging between sheer bliss in believing this was a done deal to utter depression over thinking it's now off. It's just plain stupid. I love all this cloak and daggers stuff and the rumours, I wouldn't be on here so much recently if I didn't. But while I agree that there are those outside the club that know a bit about what's going on, only those involved in a transfer know all the details (and tbh even then probably not 100%). On those grounds why take these press and ITK snippets as gospel. If he signs we'll soon know about it.

Finally if you're offended by my sense of humour, apologies. I still stand by what I said though, not a healthy place to be for those with Bipolar disorder.

Its not going to happen is it. Sad times :(

You weren't going to get excited over no news... but "happy" to feel sad over no news...

Provably because the press have been absolutely spot on with regards saints transfers over the last two seasons.

Don't believe that - Bologna could just report Espanyol to UEFA and then get the funds they are owed.

"When Gaston Ramirez seemed now a Southampton player, here is the twist. Bologna has refused the offer of 15 million euro in the English club and, at least for the time being, would not be willing to sell the player. The club rossoblu doesn't want to drop below 20 million and, as a result, holds open a door for Inter which follows the Uruguayan playmaker. Out of contention Liverpool and Tottenham.

And yes the issue looked really closed and strachiusa. To give the deal to the fact we had thought directly Ramirez who, in recent hours, had welcomed the Premier's new adventure: "the news is not official yet, but I know that the two companies have found agreement. Missing only the details. Southampton is the team that I searched more and this struck me, "he said the Uruguayan. Just think, when was that formalize everything, something between the two clubs broke.

Southampton, to be clear, there is suspicion in the race for the player, but the negotiations must find other ways to arrive at the conclusion more waiting. Inter, meanwhile, remains on the sidelines ready to enter in the competition. snatching Ramirez"

Rehash of what we have seen.

ssn reported it as a done deal,so thats why some including myself thought it was a done deal

Head in the sand reasoning tho mate. They also reported Buttner as done deal and look what happened there. All of this press speculation can be used to give us an idea how likely something is but it's hardly something to stake your life on.

Fine, we'll leave it at that then, I obviously misunderstood your post.

I agree only those involved really know the ins and outs of transfers, so it is very difficult to know what is true and what isn't.

No I am talking about the players we have been linked with who have then signed. Every player we have signed in the past two seasons was known about a long time before in the press.
