Dig Dig Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 Seems the usual type of talks that are best done behind closed doors. Yes, and the bet the chairman is working very very hard behind the scenes to bring this to a conclusion
Deanovski Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 Former Uruguayan midfielder Bologna, 21, was also sought by Inter, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham. The transfer price is just under £ 12 million for 70% of the tab, the side with the Italian team. Figure will be remembered for Southampton. The remaining 30% will remain Peñarol, his first professional club. The floor of the player will be about £ 2.5 million per season, more clauses in a contract for 4 seasons. Use the number 10. The player spoke. "I hope the fans understand that Bologna, for me, it's time to go." He added: "I will head, which for a player like me is growing critical, and above all I have said that they intend to grow. Southampton is a newly promoted team to the top flight English, aims to grow in a few years. I am assured that it will build a great team and that is very stimulating. " Author: Luciano Bleiz

Albano Guaraldi, owner of the club felsineo, rejected the first proposal of the Saints, who have promised a new revival. The Bologna has made clear its demands: it will not move from 15 million required for the sale of Uruguayan footballer, 10 must be paid immediately and the other 5 within a year, so if Southampton had to work on these figures and in these conditions the deal will close immediately.

itchen_dan Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 (edited) See... patience and haggling gets the rewards in the end. Bargain price. From 20m initially euros to 15m euros in little over 2 days. Going by this and other reports, our initial fee will now be accepted but rather than spread over 3 years, it needs to be 2/3's upfront (10m) with the final 1/3 (5m) over the next year. As I said the other day, the main sticking point was that Bologna need to reinvest in the team and replace Ramirez and that would've been very difficult with only 5m euros upfront. http://www.football-italia.net/23585/bologna-set-new-ramirez-terms? Bologna set new Ramirez terms By Football Italia staff Bologna have reportedly set the price-tag for Southampton to sign Gaston Ramirez - €15m in two instalments. The Uruguayan declared there were “just details” separating him from the Saints this week, but that was quickly quashed by the furious reaction of his club. According to Il Resto del Carlino newspaper, Southampton rang up Bologna President Albano Guaraldi over the weekend and offered to start from scratch. The initial offer was considered to be insufficient, especially as it involved being paid over several instalments. However, it now seems as if Bologna are willing to accept the spread of payments if they receive €10m upfront and a further €5m within a year. This would only be to pay for the Rossoblu’s portion of the player’s contract, so not including the 30 per cent owned by Penarol or his agent’s commission Edited 19 August, 2012 by itchen_dan

HTH
itchen_dan Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 Think that still makes the cost to us 20mil....... 30% of 15mil = 4.5mil and then the commission. HTH Yeah but in total we are saving ourselves about 5m-6m euros still, as rather than 20m to Bologna and 6m euros to Penarol (26m in total), it'd be 15m to Bologna + 4.5m to Penarol (19.5m). This total is still lower than Bologna's initial 20m valuation for 70%.

HTH Well that also depends on whether we're buying the whole 100% doesn't it? Maybe we're not buying out penarol's share? Also, it won't be 30% of 15m will it? If 70% = 15m, then 10% = 2.14m, so 30% = 6.42m But don't tell anyone eh? Edited 19 August, 2012 by Webby
Toadhall Saint Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 Well that also depends on whether we're buying the whole 100% doesn't it? Maybe we're not buying out penarol's share? Think thats not allowed in the Prem after the Tevez saga. Could be wrong tho'.
Saint Charlie Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 Well that also depends on whether we're buying the whole 100% doesn't it? Maybe we're not buying out penarol's share? We have to, Premier League rules - third party ownership not allowed.
Toadhall Saint Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 Is this still in Euros? Think so - either way its a lot of dosh.
ottery st mary Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 Think so - either way its a lot of dosh. Cheers:) Off to my piggy bank in case NC needs a loan on Monday morning..re deposit:D

Saint Without a Halo Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 Think thats not allowed in the Prem after the Tevez saga. Could be wrong tho'. Penerols share can be converted into a sell on clause for 30% therefore initially costing nothing! or we could buy of part and convert part.
Toadhall Saint Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 Penerols share can be converted into a sell on clause for 30% therefore initially costing nothing! or we could buy of part and convert part. True but would Penerol want the dosh up front or gamble on a sell on cause? Probably the halfway house you're suggesting.

Ken Tone Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 Anybody know now this part ownership thin in Italy works? Does the smaller partner effectively just get part of a sell on fee , or what? If they part own why do they not pay part of the wage? What they expect will affect the likelihood of our getting this player.
S-Clarke Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 A player like Gaston would fit in so well to how we play. I really want us to sort this, we're going to be a bloody great side to watch this year.

I really want us to sort this, we're going to be a bloody great side to watch this year. Totally agree. Didnt think the 4-5-1 would suit us but after that organised, attacking performance today, he would be a perfect fit for the RW position. Absolutely perfect. Get the ball, drive at the defender, cut in, shoot. Perfect.

Wade Garrett Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 He would fit right in as part of a top 3, or as a wide man in a 4-4-2. I hope he watched the game, and realises what a good side we are.

Would be great to potentially see him play v Wigan! We need to try and get most wrapped up next week in theory, the week after is only a 4 day week and that would be cutting tight to say the least.
itchen_dan Posted 19 August, 2012 Posted 19 August, 2012 We need to try and get most wrapped up next week in theory, the week after is only a 4 day week and that would be cutting tight to say the least. Totally forgot about that. This week could be extremely exciting then!

He doesn't know if it will happen tomorrow, but the difference required to sort is so small that it would be weird if it wasn't agreed now. He also agrees that Ramirez's words were quite unwise.

Bolonga wanted everything up front, but we wanted instalments - a compromise now looks to have been agreed. Fun week ahead IMO.

This still doesn't cover the Penarol share. How much do we have to pay for that? From what I gather, the €15m is for Bologna's share.
