The fact Gaston has come out with several quotes such as I want to be in the starting XI so saints is the best place to come and he wants to help us grow and be the star means he's obviously spoken to NC and NA. I wouldn't be surprised if he was already in the country. All the talk of NC being on holiday at the wrong time too. I bet he finished his holiday, flew straight to Italy and started the ball rolling. All of this makes me think this has been under way for quite some time. Probably has only just come out as Ramirez was waiting to see what happened with Spurs. My thoughts anyway.

I'm sure the spread of payments issue can be sorted. If they've agreed a fee then its just sorting out when they get it

Exciting player from what I've seen on the Youtube vids.

Itkagent is a fake, hence fourth official attempting to prove hom wrong

The ramirez qoutes from earlier were from horses mouth, would be astounded if we **** it up now

Remember Jemel, Gorkss, Fontaine and Ward!!

When it comes to Home Grown rules etc do they look at it in terms of Scottish, NI, Welsh, English or is it British? (Genuine question not complaining about the list)

And how many players have we got with dual nationality?

And a final one, who have we got who speaks Spanish in order to help Ramirez out (apart from Gazzaniga)?

Guly and Fonte will be able to speak Spanish, or at the very least Portunol.

And most people from Uruguay also understand Portguese anyway, due to being sandwiched between Argentina and Brazil.

So with Gazzaniga, Guly and Fonte he'll have enough help to start with :-)

If he signs, I'm thinking of popping over the river from Buenos Aires to Fray Bentos and walk around with a Saints shirt with Ramirez on the back :-)

I presume his reported £30k a week wages are within a responsible budget? I presume also that relegation clauses are in there just in case. Wouldn't want this fantastic possible signing biting us on the bum.

Having cleared the debt, will the current owners look to take any monies out of the club this year in the way of a well deserved bonus, or is the entire £50m, or whatever Sky offer, available to us?

Right, I'm off out for an hour or so. When I get back I expect to see this bloke signed, along with Buttner and that Kayak fellar from France. Oh and JustMike to be a mod.

dennis_izzo: Gaston Ramirez: si al Southampton manca solo l'ufficialità.

Il club inglese si baserà sull'uruguaiano.

Let's hope you get the chance to make this happen.

alex_crook: Adam Lallana on Ramirez signing for #saintsfc 'to be linked with spurs and liverpool he must be a quality player.'

Seems the players also think this is done.

Would be Great to have Ramirez on board at least before the Wigan game next Saturday-(25th!) or would be a bonus for the Man City game on Sunday But we'l see!!!

Looking on Wikipedia I see that he's a winger and he looks quite Good But am not sure on who he'd replace tbh as I hope it's not for Lalanna or something But we'l see!!!

Would also be Good to welcome on board Philips and Buttner as well But we'l see!!!

COYR!!! :D

Sounds all greek to me, but how did he slip into the country without any of our spotters at every port and airport seeing him.

And what about our taxi boys - surely they'd have heard a whisper on the grape vine FFS.

It's nearer 60 grand a week dude.... if going on his quote of 2 million euros per annum net.

A couple of posts have looked at it... essentially 2 million euros is £1.6 million.... that's 30 grand a week net... but that's after tax, NI and any other deductions...... 1.6 million net works out at roughly £3.4 million...which is c. 60k a week!

Phew the REALLY important news we've all been waiting for

Golden FM ‏@golden_fm Gaston Ramirez who should be signing for Southampton is an excellent player on FM12, his all round stats are great!

Their researcher obviously loved him, probably one of the best wingers on the game. Lets hope he is that good.

I can't really believe we're even discussing this, and these figures!! - wow things have certainly moved on from 2 seasons ago, hold on to your hats

one question please?

Never heard of him until recently, is he any good?

Well he's 21, was apparently wanted by Inter, Tottenham and Liverpool, has been described as the "Uruguayan Kaka", has nine caps for a national team that is ranked fourth in the world and scored eight goals in 28 games for Bologna in Serie A last season.

I'd say he's pretty decent.

This would fit well with our history of signing the Latvian Micheal Owen and the Swedish David Beckham. Who says Cortese has no respect for our history and tradition FFS?

Michael Owen was the English Marian Pahars....FACT
