S-Clarke Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 14.3m quid. Ouch. Just to clarify, that was lifted from another forum and I'm still searching for official confirmation on that.
beatlesaint Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Which is exactly why it can be difficult to sort deals early. Absolutely. Anyone would keep hold of a player for an extra few weeks if it means they can get extra cash in.
Saint Charlie Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 14.3m quid. Ouch. Seems a fair price for a quality player looked at by top clubs. We will sell him for more in 2/3 years.

itchen_dan Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 That price may include Penarol's fee as well so who knows?
fish fingers Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 14.3m quid. Ouch. But when compared with Steven Fletcher, Jarvis and Rhodes today i think we should be happy.
SaintNeil90 Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Its a false alarm. It obviously came from this... @AlvaroLevrero: @SkySportsNews say #GastónRamírez 's deal's done finally to #Southampton for an amazing total amount of £ 18:000.000. The biggest until now. Some women who claims she saw it on sky sport in Italy.
Smirking_Saint Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 TBH Im not even goung to be excited when we sign him now, just relieved.
S-Clarke Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Have we signed Gary Hooper yet? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?35466-Gary-Hooper&highlight=gary+hooper
JustMike Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?35466-Gary-Hooper&highlight=gary+hooper don't show him that! EDIT: Too late!

syd_barrett_saint Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 No idea about the reliability of the source, or where/when they get their info, but this tweet about 10 minutes ago isn't positive: https://twitter.com/CalcioSphera Gastón Ramírez-Southampton: Bloqueada la venta del jugador del Bologna por un porcentaje (30%) del jugador que pertenece a Peñarol. It looks like that says the sale of the player has been blocked, due to the 30% part owned by Peñarol.

Saint Garrett Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Translates as Gastón Ramírez-Southampton: Locked sale of Bologna player by a percentage (30%) of the player who belongs to Peñarol. Would assume that we're just locked in talks I'm sure it'll be fine.

saints_is_the_south Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Probably comes from this article. http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/bologna/?action=read&idnet=emVyb2NpbnF1YW50dW5vLmNvbS02NzM0

John Boy Saint Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 I wondered today how much of this Ramirez cobblers, is a smoke screen to cover all of our other deals: which seem to be smooth as silk and pretty much under the radar.
syd_barrett_saint Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Or that the deal is locked as in locked down as in complete? MAYBE? Does anyone here speak italian? Despite being from a twitter account called CalcioSphera about Italian football, the tweet is in Spanish. And a far more common translation would be that the sale is blocked, rather than locked.

And a far more common translation would be that the sale is blocked, rather than locked. Not heard he/she tweet anything about this deal before, so unlikely to be accurate I'd say. Also that source looks like a fanzine-type site not a legitimate Italian media football website.
syd_barrett_saint Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 A Uruguayan journalist (for one of their biggest newspapers), https://twitter.com/josMastandrea, has just tweeted the deal has been completed, for 18 million pounds, not euros :-/

Also that source looks like a fanzine-type site not a legitimate Italian media football website. Yep, I think you're right there. Looks like a fanzine, probably best ignored. Hopefully the Uruguayan journalist who just tweeted the deal is done is right (although I am hoping also he got pounds and euros mixed up!)
syd_barrett_saint Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 A Uruguayan journalist (for one of their biggest newspapers), https://twitter.com/josMastandrea, has just tweeted the deal has been completed, for 18 million pounds, not euros :-/ Ah, crap. He has now replied again clarifying "that is what they are saying in England". So it seems he knows nothing new.
Saint Billy Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Hope he is wrong about 18 million pounds Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Jack Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Twitter should be closed down IMO. Thousands of people without a f*cking clue about anything, pretending to be ITK, winding people up, posting ********, and clogging up this once *cough* respectable forum. This forum should be closed down IMO......
Saintandy666 Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Hope he is wrong about 18 million pounds Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2 For me, that depends on A. How good he is and B. How much money we actually have. I don't think Cortese is the kind of guy who would ever break the budget for a player, so I think whatever we pay we will be able to afford. And I guess we will see whether it is worth it or not as the season pans out. If we have signed him of course...
Spudders Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Hope he is wrong about 18 million pounds Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2 Indeed that's a hell of an increase Sent from a hotel room in Belgium using traditional fingers & a keyboard
aintforever Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Why are you on here then? Discussion/debate? Twitter is on par with "p!ssed bloke down pub" for reliability.
JustMike Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Indeed that's a hell of an increase Sent from a hotel room in Belgium using traditional fingers & a keyboard do you not usually then?
wireframebox Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 @josMastandrea: Hecho!! Gastón Ramiírez al Southampton en 18 millones de libras
Cheese on Toast Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 do you not usually then? Chicken dippers
syd_barrett_saint Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 @josMastandrea: Hecho!! Gastón Ramiírez al Southampton en 18 millones de libras He then followed this up with "it's what they are saying in England". He knows nothing new.
SaintNeil90 Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 (edited) Discussion/debate? Twitter is on par with "p!ssed bloke down pub" for reliability. You clearly know f**k all about Twitter. There are people on there who are reliable. Unfortunately everyone is so desperate on here that they will accept and clinge on to any tweet that is positive about this 'deal'. @josMastandrea: Hecho!! Gastón Ramiírez al Southampton en 18 millones de libras KEEP UP FFS!!. Edited 30 August, 2012 by SaintNeil90
S-Clarke Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 The fact things are filtering through in Uruguay suggests something has happened in terms of our agreement with Panarol (i.e a positive development)
aintforever Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 Hope he is wrong about 18 million pounds Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2 I expect that's in Euros. Im guessing the rate is quite good at the moment with Spain and Greece in meltdown.
SaintNeil90 Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 The fact things are filtering through in Uruguay suggests something has happened in terms of our agreement with Panarol (i.e a positive development) Or they have just done what we have done on here and believed some women who tweeted sky saying it was a done deal.
Thedelldays Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 if he does not sign by midnight tonight, I am going to write a strongly worded email to the club
This Charming Man Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 I expect that's in Euros. Im guessing the rate is quite good at the moment with Spain and Greece in meltdown. It's not great, it's £14.25m. Though when we change it up at the Post Office, they'll hammer us with their crappy rates.
Cheese on Toast Posted 30 August, 2012 Posted 30 August, 2012 if he does not sign by midnight tonight, I am going to write a strongly worded email to the club But they won't give a ****ing **** will they? WILL THEY????
