I'm lazy, what's the latest?

There's a meeting at 3pm.

Our resident Italian financial advisor, S-Clarke, has assured us Bologna are so broke this meeting is just to announce the sale of him to us and it in no way could be to say he's had a change of heart.

They are skint, that's common knowledge. In fact, apart from Juve, they're all skint!

Really, who cares? 99% of posters on here wouldn't of had a clue who he was 10 days ago & are now getting all precious over whether a Diego Kickaball signs or not.

It's not just about whether "Diego Kickaball" ends up signing but also the fact that we - and especially Cortese - have invested so much time and effort in pursuing him when we have other serious deficiencies to address.

If we miss out on Ramirez and also fail to address our clear weaknesses, Cortese is going to look rather silly and somewhat out of his depth, and our quest to survive in the PL could be seriously damaged. At that point, who knows how Cortese will react?

There may be a whole lot more riding on this than an exciting signing.

I guess it all boils down to whether Martin O'neills house in Winchester has had any recent viewings. That will be as big an indicator as you could wish for as to whether he's signed or not

Mousse81: #Ramirez update: "now or never" meeting Bologna-Southampton at 4pm in Italy. Waiting to be official. Instead, Floccari said no to Bologna.

Would rather Floccari said yes to Bologna !! Come on we just need to push it over the line.

So is this a press conference or a meeting? A press conference wouldn't be good, usually clubs don't organise these just to announce a player has left and no way Saints would agree to them announcing it before we did.

I am amazed that NC hasnt lost patience and walked away as has seemingly happened before.

Still perhaps an Italian dealing with Italians means a different set of rules :)

Someone should tell Inter they're skint and to stop spending!

The thing is, Bologna probably are broke but nobody on here knows that for sure. At no point have Bologna come out and said we have to sell as we're skint - there is certainly no urgency on their part to sell. People on here have assumed things and read between the lines and it's then taken as gospel. They may well have enough in the coffers to offer him a few Euros more a week - we don't know either way though.

This thread is reminding me of the build up to the signing of Rudi Skace so I fully expect him to be paraded on the pitch to formally sign his contract this weekend before turning out to not be the saviour but just a decent footballer.

That's the bit that has made me very queasy about this whole thing.

When was the last time that the selling club organized the press conference to announce a transfer? Especially when its chairman has taken a load of abuse from the fans for thinking about selling the player.

Cortese hasn't walked away because this is his signing.

If it was an Adkins target then he would have lost interest as soon as Bolonga started to play hard ball.

It would have been a massive waste of time if he doesn't sign now, still not confident he will.

It's just a meeting apparently.

Can you please highlight where I've been aggressive?

I'm merely asking the question of how he know's so much about their financial situation. That's a rather reasonable request, IMO.

I'd like to know how come he's such an expert on the Bologne financial situation too. He does seem to speak with a great deal of authority on the subject.

Man, I hope so. But even then it doesn't sit very well with me because the two clubs are supposed to have reached agreement, with the only major issues being a deal with Penarol and the medical.

It's like one step forward, two steps back.

That's how I see it as well. In League 1 we got Guly and Papa Waigo, players that, to be honest, we shouldn't have been getting with our reputation. Cortese likes to pull off a ridiculous Italian league signing once in a while with his contacts there it seems.

Its not Diego Kickaball. Its Carlos Kickaball.

Thought this might cheer you all up....its prophetic....our Nigel in about 12 months time....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXdrOgA7ATU

PMSL, just shows what the Italians are like.....Berbatov was apparently supposed to join Fiorentina but failed to turn up for medical and now looking like joining Fulham. Fiorentina's presidents reaction "we are glad he didn't turn up, he is not worthy of our great city".......made me laugh

hope they dont read the Ramirez off topic

Will never get done in time FFS. Shouldn't have wasted out time on this when we need a CB.

Inter, like AC and Juve, will always spend despite the huge debts they have just in the same way Barca & Real Madrid do.

Bologna are skint, it's no secret as are the vast majority of Italian clubs. Their TV deals are crippling the clubs.

All time low? Not even close. By the way, I am 100% in favour of correcting bad spelling - especially "loose" instead of "lose"....but only after you have made posts and joined the in crowd - by which time you will be able to distinguish between irony and illiteracy ;)

Do you not mean 'appropriate'..?

Sorry, not up to speed today. I thought he was coming to Southampton to do this...as per Italian reports a couple of days ago? Is this still the case do you know?

I bet the next transfer news on the OS is NOT about Ramirez after all this !!

There will be a massive article on Yoshida, with a one sentace footnote stating 'Ramirez is on the Bus too.'
