......if you don't mind his disciplinary record...and seen him play, he seems to have inherited the old Leeds axiom from the 1970's ..."if you can't get the ball ..get the man who's got it! " Er- no thanks.

Tries the glory ball far too much and gives away possession. He'll get a few red cards in a Stoke shirt that he would have got away with if playing for Liverpool as well.

Problem is Cortese will not pay anyone silly wages & that's why we got Raminez because he will settle for 45k a week, cant see him paying 100k+ to the greedy has beens in the EPL.

Bebatov

Walcott

Johnson

to name a few.

This is clearly not a problem.

And Walcott not going to us, or Fulham or Sunderland anytime soon.

I'm delighted we're not signing Berbatov.

Christ you're stupid. We're already in the hunt for another CB to go alongside Yoshida, and Ramirez has the potential to be world class. But you would rather we drop everything, and instead go after Kasper Schmeichel, a so-so keeper who conceded four last night against the mighty Burton Albion.

What a F*ck!ng plum. Thank god the schools go back soon, and the novelty of being back in the top flight will wear off for the JCL's.

Why did you quote me fool? Irony too much for you?

Got out of bed too early, clearly not a problem correct!

Cortese would pay wages of 100k + if he felt the player was right for us.

Van Persie would be a great example if we was on the brink of champion league football.

Our time will come at this rate.

Back to subject - Raminez to sign at 2 with a full press exposure IMHO.

By today must be translated to the sale Uruguayan Southampton to unlock the negotiations set to conclude today and maybe some other purchase.

Now or never - or at least it should be. Tuesday afternoon, in fact the president Guaraldi assured fans absolutely want to conclude the negotiations with Southampton not later than the morning today to not find yourself having to work quickly on the last day of the transfer market. Are now many in Bologna that count the minutes left before the end of the day, hoping that any problems preventing the two clubs to reach an agreement and be able to see it again so Gaston Ramirez with the shirt of Bologna. In fact there is no possible substitute at the market to fill the gap that would open technique losing the young Uruguayan talent for a figure decidedly favorable. To have a comparison just think the figure that Manchester City close disburse at this time to buy eighteen Nastasic from Fiorentina: 18 million. Bologna is instead ready to give 70% of the label of one of the hottest prospects in world football born in 1990 to just 14 million. Let us trust the president, however, the word Guaraldi and wait for the end of the morning to learn the fate of the boy and therefore also of all receipts and payments transactions

Why are we chasing this unproven player when Berbatov is everything we need - quality. Premier League experience, Morale boosting, AND IS SUPPOSEDLY HEADING FOR FULHAM!!!!?? WFT?

Go after Berbatov. We need some experience FFS!

.... and buy a bloody defence Cortese. We have enough strikers FFS.

Sorry mate. I'm in the minority. Dragged up on a council estate, etc, etc. Indelibly colours your views. I just think you're a grass.

I was dragged up on a council estate and think your perspective is straight out of junior school.

Yeah but after the initial stall it was never going to happen before Thursday/Friday this week. Bologna are desperate for cash and we'll get him unless someone else jumps in late.

Still ongoing..... tick... tock.... tick..... tock....

Premier League Southampton, racing against time to Ramirez

League SOUTHAMPTON RAMIREZ - Continue the wild ride of Southampton, to prevent the purchase of Gaston Ramirez fade right on the razor's edge. Colleagues in the Gazzetta dello Sport reported the strategy of the Saints, to be able to complete the deal in time, ie before it closes the period devoted to the negotiations, which for English football expires five hours after the close of the market in Italy ( at midnight on 1st September): the medical staff of the newly promoted team in the Premier League would be directed to Bologna in Italy to carry out medical examinations to Uruguayan playmaker, so as to tighten the times and to sign the new contract to the player in shortest possible time.

Have we not done the medical yet then?

I would've thought it would've been completed yesterday as this morning is the 'deadline' (yes another deadline) set by Guaraldi. If it hasnt been done yet then don't expect any announcement until around mid afternoon as they take a good few of hours to do, then press releases etc.

Bet we get a quote later from the president saying it is off...

Something has gone through, whether its our deal or he has gone somewhere else is a different matter. For a skint club they are starting to bring players in all of a sudden.

The only thing though is that as far as they are concerned, its a done deal because they have agreed with Saints. Saints however, going by reports, still seem to be working with Penarol to agree a fee / bonuses / %'s. This could still go wrong. Highly unlikely now as we've got this far but there is always the possibility it could fall through.

Bologna have done their part, they can do no more so can prepare to recruit players but if the Saints-Penarol part falls through, or he even fails a medical etc, they're gonna have some explaining to do to clubs who they have players lined up from.

It is in the best interests of all parties to get this sewn up today. Leaves everyone a good 40+ hours to finalise other deals.

Errr No!

My Manc mate was at OT and Fergie was in preparations to make a change with the obvious player making way being Berbatov.

Berbatov was near the sidelines when an old boy standing next to my mate shouted "Oi Berbatov!! Warm up lad!, you're coming off!". Obviously to great roars of laughter from those in earshot.

As my mate said summed the player up superbly.

Well it's nearly 11am in Italy now. And their president told supporters/media that unless the deal was concluded by this morning then Ramirez would be taken off the market.

Also gone eerily quiet on the Italian media sign of things. No updates from the journalists in Bologna, no update from Carlo di Marzio (Sky Italia guy) or any of the Gazzetta reporters that I follow on Twitter. Does that mean it's virtually done and there is nothing else worth reporting on until it's made official, or they no longer no what is going on since the Saints/Bologna side is sorted and matters now concern things outside of Italy?

That's my belief. It's probably 'done', as in, all agreed, it's just medical and final bits of paper.

Or I could be completely and utterly wrong.

Late night last night I assume.

Yeah, one of the other media guys who works at Saints amongst other things and presents the Match Day Shows put:

RichardEnsten: Came home from work late. Found my housemates making crumble.

Jayrodfan2: @richardensten Don't make me hungry why were you back late

RichardEnsten: @Jayrodfan2 haha. I was back late because I was working!

Now whether it was a late night at St Mary's or one of his other jobs, who knows but seems it was a long, quiet day on Twitter for the media team yesterday.

An interesting concept some people ought to try and grasp - you can sometimes read too much into things. Hanging on every single Saints' employees tweets is an example.

It's just the last time it was that quiet on Twitter from the media team, we ended up signing Jay Rodriguez. Most probably just be a coincidence but with the various rumours / reports coming from news outlets and journos yesterday, wouldnt surprise me if they had been very busy and didnt have time or werent allowed to tweet.
