Southampton recruits Bologna midfield star, Gaston Ramirez.

The 21-year-old Uruguayan international has signed a five year contract with the newcomers in the Premier League. Here is the good news to all Southampton fans. Premier League newcomer has made it clear with Bologna midfielder Gaston Ramirez. The purchase went to the end to 120 million, a record sum for the club, and will give Ramirez 490 000 kronor a week.

Five-year Contract. The contract is written in five years. In addition, the Birmingham Hill, Curtis Davies making Ramirez company, according to Mirror Football. Davies initially looked to be on their way to be reunited with manager Chris Hughton in Norwich, but they acquired Tottenham defender Sebastien Basson instead. It opens the door wide open for a move to Southampton instead

We are paying him in Swedish currency? Some sort of tax avoidance??

This. Much appreciated here too.

You are welcome. Some of the translations I've seen are laughably wrong but , to be fair a lot of what is printed has to be taken in context - which it never is - we only get to see 140 characters from a tweet or similar - but the google translations ARE funny!

Incidentally, when 450 Bologna ultras turn up to the training ground pi==ed off at your selling a player you can probably bet he's quite a good and valued-by-the-fans player...its not like when we released Tommy Forecast for instance...

This seems to be a quote from the Bologna president today.

“If Thursday does not resolve the situation with Southampton, then Gaston stay here #SainstFC Thurs or bust for Ramirez-Bologna chairman”

Many things may happen but the chances of Ramirez staying at Bologna is one of the least likely. He's going somewhere.

Your all forgetting how good Tadanari Lee is ...............IMHO he is as good as Ramirez , Just needs to get fully fit . Can see him being first or second on the team sheet once he is.

You're completely insane

I don't think he is at all. Lee's movement was a cut above for the few games he played last season. He was too good for the Championship by far in my opinion - just a shame he got injured. I'm really excited about him and know for a fact that very senior people at the club are too and can't believe they didn't face more competition for his signature when we signed him.

I think Lee and Ramirez with Lallana will provide the 3 behind the striker in the main

In fact Lee is world class:p

and so is ramirez

This I know as a fact...

Cos I was in the Chapel in the Kingsland corner about 50 yards from goal when he hit THAT shot.

The ball was nevergoing anywhere when he received the pass & the next thing I did my back in ducking out the way of a ball that I honestly thought would break the net

Our formation 4-2-3-1 WILL work when we have Lee & Ramirez as the wide men. What we lack is cover because while I think Guly will make a PL player eventually, Puncheon won't I'm afraid and waiting for Guly to reach that moment every week could take more points than we can afford

If we can find a way within our system to get them an early ball from time to time, those two can destroy a backpedalling defence.

We will waste their talents if they constantly receive the ball with their back to goal and one or two players right up their arses, although Ramirez looks like he has the skills to turn and beat them even in that situation.

How quick is Ramirez exactly? He seems like a skillful Kaka type player who's full of direct running but I can't really see him skinning full-backs.

I mean, if he was up against say Figueroa against Wigan at the weekend I think he'd have struggled. I'd much rather see him as a dedicated attacking CMF driving through the middle and opening up space for Lallana/Lee on the wings with 1) through balls/flicks and tricks and 2) the threat of a good strike on goal.

Factor number 2 as well should also help open space up for Rickie as at the moment teams can close him down way too easily, knowing that we don't have much of a threat from range (although nice to see Lallana having a go at the weekend - more of that please Adam!)

but yeah I just don't really see Ramirez being as effective on the wing as driving through the middle for the above reasons.
