buctootim Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 We tried 'total' football. That didn't work out so well..[/i] Those arent the only two options though are they? The individual instructions you give to players have far more influence in the shape of the game than the formation they line up in at kick off. ollysaints1 Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 Unfortunatley for those Bologna fans, there is very little that they can do at this point. He wants our contract and Bologna have all ready bought a player they can not afford without the sale of Ramirez.

tttdcs Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 There have been a number of conflicting tweets over this whole period lifting and then deflating some of our more prolific posters. The fact is that until Bologna and or Saints announce it, it is not a done deal and anything can go wrong. It has been reported by tweets today from so called informed sources in Italy that the Bologna President has said the deal is not done. It could be that both clubs have a pact that until every last thing is agreed and signed there will be no announcement of the transfer. It could likewise be that an agreement has not been reached. Before posters start putting him in the team line ups just wait and see. Waiting for the late Spurs/Liverpool bid like me then ;-)

itchen_dan Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 Just goes to show that it now really is in the best interests of all parties to get this done NOW! It has got out of hand in Italy and both clubs have got other deals to be focusing on. I'm not saying 'we don't only do one deal at a time' but I can imagine alot of our focus and time has gone into this one. Others may have progressed slowly but been pushed to the back of the queue whilst this one was still 'live'

About 400 supporters gathered at the Technical Center Niccolò Galli to demonstrate their disapproval of the impending sale of Robinho to Southampton. At the start of the stands were sung chorus of mockery against Albano Guaraldi, asked in a loud voice to pull out the money, so a group of ultras demanded a confrontation with the president rossoblù, who approached them escorted from Digos . The situation was now very hot and after a gesture of disapproval by the patron rossoblù they started spitting at his address and some mobs have also tried to climb over the fence. At that point it takes the mediation of the police and five representatives of the red and blue supporters were allowed in the hotel for an interview with Guaraldi and the dg Zanzi. "I do not know what to challenge Ramirez has not yet been sold and the market is not over. If they have come to be Friday at 19 "had previously said the president of Bologna. Then there was the confusion, for Pioli and a team full of doubts and problems is not the best weather to prepare advance of Saturday night at the Dall'Ara with Milan. Frank's cousin Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 No, dont like 3-5-2, easily undone by quick widemen with balls in between the wing backs and centre backs. 4-2-3-1 is the way forward with 3 attacking midfielders who can rotate positions and 2 from MS/JC/SD/JWP as holding defensive midfielders. At last ... I knew given time you would actually agree with something I have said (see post 5494 of this thread)

I am sure it will pass and we will resume hostilities at some point On the 4231 - do you think in Adam, Ramierez and Lee they would have enough about them to interchange a bit? I also like the Germans play it (although they need a fully fit Schweinsteiger for it to work) with him interchanging with Khadiera in creating an attacking 5/6 when in pocession + the full backs Lahm and Boateng also over lapping - need some pace though or get exposed - but nice to watch. Webby Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 (edited) 4231...like this: I think Ramirez and Lambert could rotate their positions, as could Lallana and Ramirez. I think Lallana would really click with playing alongside another skilful, quick footed player like Ramirez. I can see lots of clever interplay between those two. I think Ramirez and Lallana will. From what i've seen of Lee his game seems to be based around work rate. I think he'd go missing if he was playing down the middle behind a striker. He'd be okay up front alongside Lambert of Rodriguez or out wide i think.
Frank's cousin Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 4231...like this: Thats the baby - Ideally where we have Spiderman and davis you have two that can be both defensive and atatcking and rotate to supplemnet the front 4 - with the 3 also interchaging now and then - especially attacking if full backs get foward as well - but potentially vunerabl eto a counter if you lose the ball - but great to watch! Ed Rooney Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 Although I think the 4-2-3-1 (deep) would work well, I would still however love to see the Diamond return with the signing of Ramirez. I think with this formation, the front 4 if you like is enough, so Davis and Schneiderlin should just sit and protect the back four, try and win the ball and give it to one of the 4 in front of them. Also, Lallana and Lee are quite capable of dropping back to create a 4411 situation.

charliemiller Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 One point is that its not really one up front , or it shouldnt be with 4231 or 4321 ..... when this was introduced by Mouriniho a few years back with Drogba up front the whole point was that he wasnt alone up front when they attacked , the players playing behind the forward had pace and were fluid , they dropped back when needed in Midfield and streamed into attacking support when required. The single player upfront was never isolated in the way SRL has appeared to be at times when we have played this system. It may come with time or with players with more pace to support him , also this systems needs BOTH full backs to push forward and offer overlaps Clyne was doing it on Saturday Fox wasnt ! up and away Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 According to Swedish press it´s a done deal with a 5 year contract. http://www.expressen.se/sport/fotboll/premier-league/southamptons-skona-besked-stjarnan-klar/ It all looks a done deal as far as Bologna. the player and agent are concerned. I would expect this is all signed up subject to contract with no leverage for backing out now. If we were to just pay Penerol the 30% sell on fee, even Penarol could not stop the deal going through. The trouble is it appears Saints want to renegotiate this sell on fee to a future arrangement. To me this looks a nightmare to negotiate and unless you are prepared to balance things significantly towards Penerol, does not look promising. When Peneraol start talking about wanting a % for the players development that is concerning. That aspect has absolutely no place in these negotiations and can only be viewed as Penerol pressurising Saints for extra monies. Any renegotiation with Penerol would put them in the driving seat with little to lose in being awkward, but potential for gain.
