VectisSaint Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 Sounds like still a bit to do, medicals etc. More likely that it has to wait until tomorrow to conclude officially since it is a bank holiday today, so the FA offices are closed. Would be purely paperwork issue, but no way can a new signing be officially unveiled until the papers are all officially signed. Doesn't make a jot of difference to the work that needs to go on or has already gone on behind the scenes of course.

goneawol Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 LONDON - hardly the same day there will be an official, but the sale of Gaston Ramirez seems almost done: it is close to Southampton. The Bologna playmaker in the morning, have not called for Chievo day and at odds with the company rossoblù, did not show up for training at technical center Casteldebole. There is talk of an offer of 14 million by the British that would satisfy the property of Bologna, although the president says Albano Guaraldi, contacted by ANSA, that "there is no agreement, there is a course of dealing" . Negotiation still well underway, with the prosecutor of the young South American, Betancourt, who is talking with Penarol team uruguiana of origin, which is entitled to a percentage of 30% on the assignment. http://www.corrieredellosport.it/calcio_mercato/2012/08/27-261583/Ramirez+al+Southampton%3A+offerti+14+milioni+al+Bologna

ottery st mary Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 Gaston better learn to tackle, know when to jockey and not dive in....covers a lot of ground etc and very good on the ball and very good with free kick set pieces etc. But he will have to learn very quickly he must stay on his feet OR along with Morgan and Adam we will be left with no one to make the tackles in midfield....... Before you Netball and Hockey players say anything.. Morgan has to sort himself out after two poor games and being our non tackling centre midfield lynch pin..He can do a lot better........some said it is coz those around him are not good enough......Do me a favour... VectisSaint Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 I'm going to get ridiculed or slaughtered for doing it twice in a day but Alpine has a point! It IS ridiculous to potentially have four or so new signings in time for massive games against Man U and Arsenal. We don't play Arsenal for nearly 3 weeks. Unlikely new signings would start against Manure on Sunday anyway. Reality is that very few transfers have actually completed in the PL as yet (of course there are exceptions), the reality is that all clubs do their business at the end of the window. We are actually quite fortunate to have brought in 4 new signings early on. It is ridiculous that the transfer window remains open after the start of the season which is why we have this farcical situation, but thats how it currently is, and until that is changed the way of doing business will change little, if at all. Weird. Not so wrong, it all hinges on the fees to be paid to Ramires and his agent of £3M or €3M. Normally those fees are paid from the selling club but I can imagine Bologna wanting that to be paid by Saints. Why, because Penarol would be denied a share of that of that £3m (£0.9)going to the agent and player. So by paying Bologna the extra 3M and letting them pay the agent and player means Bologna gets 0.9M less and Penarol 0.9M more. This does all loosely fit in as €15M equates to near enough £12M but we never had it right as to why the contract was not sorted. But in hindsight the failure to pay over time looked even more ridiculous and this makes more sense.

So why with such a ridiculously short lifespan would anyone bother spending any of it not ignoring alpine and his predictable, nonesensical attention-seeking bullsh*t. Just ignore him, it is remarkably easy if you give it a go. Let's get back to talking about probably the biggest Saints signing of our generation. Schneiderlin covered more ground on Saturday than any player in the Premier League. Check the opta stats. He does tackle, he nicks and intercepts the ball from his opponents and doesn't go to ground unless he really has to (which he is capable of doing if necessary) Morgan, like a lot of our players on Saturday, really didn't have a particularly poor game as an individual, they just got f*cked over by a ridiculous attempt at a 4-3-3 which managed to get the least out of literally every one of our players.
