Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 14 August, 2012 Share Posted 14 August, 2012 Does anybody have any experience of them? The reason I ask is due to my fiancee's Dad thinking he could be one due to his handshake. I think it may just be his handshake, but then thinking about it does kind of make sense. Does anybody know what kind of things I should be looking out for?

If he gets out his right nipple, puts his hand under his right leg and tries to shake your hand, he may or may not be in the masons.

John Boy Saint Posted 14 August, 2012 Share Posted 14 August, 2012 A late friend of the family was a Mason and high up in his lodge. The Masons are viewed as having a bit of a mythical existence simply because they don't make a bit thing what they do, especially the Charitable things which is at the core of their society. if his small and ring finger are folded into his palm when he shakes your hand, there your answer. You also don't hear about the elitest side of things and how misogynistic many of the members are. Went to a funeral for a mason and back at the lodge the normal guests were put in a tiny room with no bar whilst the masons drank and had a buffet. They may not be mysterious but my experience is they are a bunch of d#ckheads largely. Known another one who is also an utter kn*b I reckon most join so they can feel powerful. stu0x Posted 15 August, 2012 Share Posted 15 August, 2012 Just ask him. Freemasonry isn't some super secret thing any more, for most the motivation is to build up a network of friends and to have a one day every couple of months on the beers. They're more concerned with giving to charity (the RNLI wouldn't survive without the masons, for example) than plotting mysterious ways to bring about the new world order. kipstryker Posted 15 August, 2012 Share Posted 15 August, 2012 What is right? Pressure from their thumb between your knuckle. Technically which knuckle would indicate their status eg between 3rd and 4th indicating master mason. It is actually quite a limp shake which flies in the face of the nice firm handshake most blokes prefer. This stuff is in the public domain. However if I never post again you know they have taken me. JPTCount Posted 15 August, 2012 Share Posted 15 August, 2012 my old manager blagged his way in in the basis he was a landlord, but he was the sort of ***** who bragged he was in training. my old neighbor and another guy down the road were members, just normal, friendly old blokes really, and defo not on a conspiracy tip. I doubt he'd be ****ed ur u asked, if he is/was a high ranking civil servant or an influential businessman he probably is
dvaughanwilliams Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 I've known a few people in the masons. One of them was really open about it and told people about the ceremonies and all the regalia, others are much more cagey about it. It's just a dinner club for middle aged men, but with the addition of stupid rules.
