Man City Build Up

I'm not hugely confident but the 14/1 about us winning is an insult.

For the lolz, City winning 4-0 is 9/1 with Ladbrokes, Lambert for first goalscorer is 12/1.

I should think Roger is headed over to Ladbrokes with a baseball bat right now.

Quite excited now. Can't wait to see us line up at the Ethiad tomorrow, I think we'll give a good account of ourselves and that's all we can really demand from tomorrow - go down fighting.

It just feels like it was only yesterday that we were preparing to go to Dagenham, Yeovil, Wycombe...and the likes of Lambert, Lallana, Davis, Fonte, Morgan - who have been all the way - now get their chance up against the best tomorrow. I bet they are absolutely buzzing for it, and they all deserve it.

p.s - Lallana on the titles of MOTD, quality.

That is all I want. Give them a good game.

Can't wait for tomorrow! Sadly can't watch the game but will be checking my phone every few seconds.

Don't expect us to get anything out of this game but as long as we go down fighting and show some nice passing I will be happy. Can't imagine how the players and Adkins must be feeling right now.

And I have had a premonition.....

Somebody, sitting somewhere near you, in the pub, or in the ground, is going to say..........

FFS GET RID OF IT, STOP FANNYING AROUND, HIT IT, STOP PASSING IT SIDEWAYS. GULY you IDIOT.

I'll say closer to Kick off. Don't want to say too much at the moment but as i said, you can understand the reasoning behind it when you know it.

If it's wrong, I apologise but I've got no reason to doubt this.

Phillips to start, Ramirez on the bench and no Lambert because he told Sky Sports he nearly quit football when he was 18.

Luke Shaw and Ward Prowse to start.

Dont think we have anything to lose and would like to see a young attacking formation and go for it - sure we might have the confidence issue when they get tonked, but thats about the psychology of it - get them to understand that they are aspiring to be that good and the work and experience that will be necessary - dont want a 10-0-0 formation bus parking nonsense - afterall, would be a bit hypocritical if Adkins went down that route?

To say it's a big risk makes me think it must be a defensive position- playing someone different up front may not work out but it's not exactly a risk' date=' as we can change that. Back 4 of Clyne, Stephens, Hooiveld and Fox/Shaw I reckon.[/quote']

Agree about the defense possibly being the surprise. How about a back five though Clyne Fonte Stephens Hooiveld Fox. Then Davis Ward-Prowse Schneiderlin. With Lallana playing in the hole behind Rodriguez/Lambert.

This gives us a better defensive platform, would allow the full backs to press up & bomb on this would give us a more flexible system to give either a bank of five in defense or midfield still leaving the three CB's?

Sat with the City fans today in the Colin Bell stand so will have to keep my mouth shut today. Hopefully a good showing & a surprise 2-2 draw or maybe not. Just hope we don't get humiliated today! Because make no doubt anything from today is a massive bonus IMHO.

Come on you beautiful red and white machine.....watching yesterday's games has given me renewed hope that we might just get something today and I don't mean a spanking,we've got nobody to fear apart from the obvious couple of big teams as the rest looked sh!te apart from a couple who had a good day, every dog has their day, today we could be that dog.

Could be a back 5. Fox has played CB before so could play him and Shaw. However it's unlikely we'll play that as we haven't done so preseason. 4-3-3 I reckon.

I don't think it's going to be a radical formation change, but likely to be someone dropped that shocks us and one of the young lads given a chance.

We could end up with Paulo in goal, maybe Ward-Prowse in midfield...

Don't think JWP starting would be a surprise. Davis not fully match fit yet, would certainly expect to see JWP figure at some point today.

Would like to think so, though I'm a little worried about the mismatch in size and strength between our CMs and the likes of Yaya Toure! Can see him powering through us. Would quite like to see Paulo in goal tbh, though Davis deserves his chance I guess.

Could be that Lallana is pushed forwards to the front 3 rather than the middle 3 and we see Morgan, JWP and Chambers in there.

If 14/1 is an insult then you of course imply that the chances of us winning are lower than that. In which case it is great value. In which case you can confidently back us to win knowing you're getting a good price.

...but that would be money down the toilet because the chances of us winning are...

This idea that Adkins will chuck in a load of young players and see how we get on... not a snowball's chance in hell.

You will see a team that understand's Citeh's strengths and plays to ours. Unless you believe that after two seasons of near-perfect tactical analysis, he is now reverting to Burley player scrabble, picking them out of the green bag at random...

I don't think anyone is suggesting that, well I'm certainly not. I took it as presumed that any player that Adkins 'threw in' would be done so because he believed they fit best into the system we need to play against City.

What about Clyne at CB to use his pace? Would seem odd but you never know.

I hope that's a joke, the guy's tiny!

Looking forward to it, but perhaps, as it's Man City and we're more than likely destined to lose, not as much as I should be. Still, I hope we give them a game. Kelvin to be MOTM with some wunderbar saves, but losing 4-1 in the end. Adam with the consolation.
