The9 Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 I'm not hugely confident but the 14/1 about us winning is an insult. For the lolz, City winning 4-0 is 9/1 with Ladbrokes, Lambert for first goalscorer is 12/1. I should think Roger is headed over to Ladbrokes with a baseball bat right now. The9 Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 Well, day one of the PL season is over and we're not bottom. Few years ago we'd have been breaking out the bubbly to celebrate that. We could only have been bottom if everyone else drew 1-1 or higher anyway.
S-Clarke Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 (edited) Quite excited now. Can't wait to see us line up at the Ethiad tomorrow, I think we'll give a good account of ourselves and that's all we can really demand from tomorrow - go down fighting. It just feels like it was only yesterday that we were preparing to go to Dagenham, Yeovil, Wycombe...and the likes of Lambert, Lallana, Davis, Fonte, Morgan - who have been all the way - now get their chance up against the best tomorrow. I bet they are absolutely buzzing for it, and they all deserve it. p.s - Lallana on the titles of MOTD, quality. Dr. Kucho Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 Can't wait for tomorrow! Sadly can't watch the game but will be checking my phone every few seconds. Don't expect us to get anything out of this game but as long as we go down fighting and show some nice passing I will be happy. Can't imagine how the players and Adkins must be feeling right now. Tractor_Saint Posted 18 August, 2012 Share Posted 18 August, 2012 3 - 1 We always win 3-1. Great odds. Hart holding an injury. Saints not expected to win. Gotta be 3-1 to us then! Great odds so bet on it now

Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 Just went to put £5 on city to score more than 5 goals & could only get odds of 5/4. Looks like everybody is predicting a thrashing. At the start of the week I fancied a 6-0 win for city. On reflection I was being stupid. I think it will be 8 or 9. for_heaven's_Saint Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 To say it's a big risk makes me think it must be a defensive position- playing someone different up front may not work out but it's not exactly a risk, as we can change that. Frank's cousin Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 Dont think we have anything to lose and would like to see a young attacking formation and go for it - sure we might have the confidence issue when they get tonked, but thats about the psychology of it - get them to understand that they are aspiring to be that good and the work and experience that will be necessary - dont want a 10-0-0 formation bus parking nonsense - afterall, would be a bit hypocritical if Adkins went down that route? Then Davis Ward-Prowse Schneiderlin. With Lallana playing in the hole behind Rodriguez/Lambert. This gives us a better defensive platform, would allow the full backs to press up & bomb on this would give us a more flexible system to give either a bank of five in defense or midfield still leaving the three CB's? Sat with the City fans today in the Colin Bell stand so will have to keep my mouth shut today. Hopefully a good showing & a surprise 2-2 draw or maybe not. Just hope we don't get humiliated today! S-Clarke Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 I don't think it's going to be a radical formation change, but likely to be someone dropped that shocks us and one of the young lads given a chance. Davis not fully match fit yet, would certainly expect to see JWP figure at some point today. Would like to think so, though I'm a little worried about the mismatch in size and strength between our CMs and the likes of Yaya Toure! Can see him powering through us. Would quite like to see Paulo in goal tbh, though Davis deserves his chance I guess. Could be that Lallana is pushed forwards to the front 3 rather than the middle 3 and we see Morgan, JWP and Chambers in there.

Legod Third Coming Posted 19 August, 2012 Share Posted 19 August, 2012 This idea that Adkins will chuck in a load of young players and see how we get on... not a snowball's chance in hell. You will see a team that understand's Citeh's strengths and plays to ours. Unless you believe that after two seasons of near-perfect tactical analysis, he is now reverting to Burley player scrabble, picking them out of the green bag at random... I don't think anyone is suggesting that, well I'm certainly not. I took it as presumed that any player that Adkins 'threw in' would be done so because he believed they fit best into the system we need to play against City. Looking forward to it, but perhaps, as it's Man City and we're more than likely destined to lose, not as much as I should be. Still, I hope we give them a game.
