Man City Build Up

Just because stranger things have happened, I just put a little tiny bit of the money I won from P*mpey's defeat on a Saints win.

Saints win is 18/1 - £5

Lallana to score 1st 20/1 - £2

And the goodun, bare with me...

We somehow break into their half, carve them open, and someone gets taken down in the box resulting in a straight red. Up steps Lambert - 1-0, then defend like f*ck. Leeds away style 'defending like f*ck'.

Scorecast - Rickie Lambert to score first and Saints 1-0 is 240/1, so I stuck a cheeky £2 on. Stranger things have happened.

I did a similar thing, sticking my Pompey defeat profit on us to win.

£2.50 on Billy Sharp and 1-0..... 300/1

I just looked at a list of City's full squad.

Gawd, I hope we never become like them. 70% foreigners, and none of them care about the club.

Hmmm, we definitely don't want a load of Swedish Internationals, what have they ever done for us, etc?

USA just won at the Azteca in Mexico for the 1st time ever (75 years, 25 attempts).

USA had about one shot all game - the scrappy goal after 80 mins. Mexico couldn't beat Timmy Tourettes in the USA goal. Whilst watching it I couldn't help but think this could be what Man City v Saints will be like. Just hope Saints get the same luck as the USA did - cos I get the feeling we sure as hell are gonna need it...

I believe. 1-0 to Saints.

Maybe we can sign a non contract Centre Half and get a dispensation to play 13 players so we can be competitive. It just isn't fair, the Premier League have always had it in for us.

You sound like you've just come from 20 miles east...

I now believe we will win.

Lawro's prediction:

Manchester City won 18 and drew one of their 19 home Premier League games last season and I expect them to get off to a winning start here too.

But I don't expect them to manage a repeat of that amazing home record because it will be a lot more difficult for them, whoever they play. I know from my time at Liverpool that everyone wants to beat you when you are champions.

They are still going to score a lot of goals and win a lot of games - their only worry this year is whether Manchester United will be better than them, but that is a big worry.

Southampton, in contrast, will be in a survival battle from the off and their biggest problem will be where their goals are going to come from.

It will come down to the half-chances. They are a bottom eight club and, for the clubs down there, someone who can convert those half-chances is worth their weight in gold.

Everyone keeps telling me Saints striker Rickie Lambert will score in the Premier League but they need him to weigh in the sort of goal tally Grant Holt managed for Norwich last season.

Saints boss Nigel Adkins is a shrewd guy and they will play some good attacking football but they need someone who can get 15 goals and, at the moment, I don't think they have one.

Prediction: 2-0

Sky Sports News were doing a little tactics review of the City team for Sunday at half 12... they probably don't have a clue about us.

Theory is 3-5-2

Pantilimon in goal,

Zabalata, Kompany, Lescott across the back

Yaya Toure and De Jong sitting

with Nasri in front of them

Milner wide right, Kolarov wide left

Tevez and Aguero up front.

What could possibloy go wrong ? At least they think Hart and Balotelli are out.

Banging on about wingbacks and being expansive. I do think that tactically us playing 4-3-3 would exploit the holes behind their wing backs beautifully, but whether we get the chance to do that...

No Jack Cork? That's quite serious... though it could have come at a worse time. It's not like we were ever going to beat Man City, Man U, Arsenal etc! For teams like Wigan however, we need him.

I doubt he would start for us even if fit. Midfield three in new formation will be Schneiderlin as holding midfielder with Davis and Lallana in front, with two wide players and one central striker.

I hear Man City are riddled with injuries, we could be top come Sunday evening.

Unfortunately for us, they have international players to replace the injured players. And also international players to replace their international squad players.

Well, there is a glimmer of hope for us if Milner is playing. Apart from the keeper (who I do not know), that is a very strong side, Milner has presumably been included to try to even things up a bit. Bit like playing with 10 men.

Woo hoo!

Huge news down here today!

Tomorrow is the first day of Eid al Fitr. AND THE PUBS ARE OPEN ALL DAY!

Which means the dubai saints massive can kick off the season in our new official home pub. What a change from 7 years ago when it was me & Eric sipping beers hoping nobody would notice us as we got walloped again......

We managed to get 22 Saints in the pub for the skate match, this year we have got our act together, lifts and tickets for anyone heading home and we've EVEN got a New (SIGNED!) shirt from Jaidi!

So back to the game. There is no way we will get anything except tonked.

But then we have Nige, we have a team spirit, the lads WANT this day, and we have a plan.

One way or another thank fook Monday is also a holiday down here, for some insane no logic reason, I think we may need it.

To recover from drowning our sorrows

Let's hope Sir Rickie, J-Rod and Billy shove those words down his saggy throat.

Btw, blind faith maybe, but I put bets on SRL (80/1) and J-Rod (150/1) to be Prem Legue top scorer (each way bts btw - payout if they're in the top 4).

Rodriguez is a much better bet than Lambert, especially if Ramirez signs, we won't want a one-paced striker up front, we'll want someone who runs in behind for Ramirez to feed through balls to.

Could be Sharp of course...

Most of the media seem painfully clueless. You'd think they'd research the basics

Erm i don't think so S-Clarke these are professional football experts working at the nations biggest newspaper. I suspect they have better contacts at the club than you! Probably NA is gonna use the pace of Hammonds to combat the central threat of Aguerro. Also Davis on the right wing to do a spoiling job on Tevez.

Mancini Manc C vs Saints preview vids:

Although virtually no questions about the Saints match (a passing question about likely selection). The rest is about transfers, Man United, Arsenal, Rodwell, Chelsea, title chances.

To be honest, what formation is that?! It's all ****ed! 4-2-2-1-1 by the look of it! And Hammond at CB.... I know they meant Hooiveld but do the research!

More to the point City have played all preseason with 3 at the back and they haven't even put their formation as such. The usual half-baked inaccurate populist nonsense.
