Blackpool report Saints over Phillips approach

Or we've made an illegal approach to the kid's agent? More like that, maybe?

Although even you would have to admit that flies in the face of comments from other clubs that we've handled our deals professionally? Maybe?

Like QPR last season you mean? Or Coventry? Rave reviews from them, eh?

.. is there really any moral/ethical difference between a so called illegal tapping up, eg a representative form Club A secretly meeting with a player of club B.... before Club B give permission, and the manager/agents representing Club B leaking their interest in a player to the media/press, so that the gossip, turns players heads? IMHO there is none, and Mr Holloway should the very least STFU - unless he enjoys teh hypocritical nature of these things - (check out gossip on BBC page) - everyone does it - I dont like it, but its seems to be the way ....

You're wrong. A mate of a mates dog has a friend who works behind the scenes in NC's office and he saw a memo on NC's desk that confirmed Southampton are the only squeaky clean, straight down the line club ever to play football ever in the history of the world. I trust this person. This is FACT. I am ITK.

Which ones did we tap up? In what way were we unprofessional? Just because Saints (as always) chose to do their business in private doesn't mean they were in the wrong. Eh?

Somewhat childish. Football is, no doubt, a murky world; that much is pretty clear. I'm sure we have to operate with our elbows sufficiently sharpened to achieve what we want to achieve. How would you like us to operate?

As dirtily as we need in order to finish 17th in the 12/13 season. Watching football is a hobby to me, not the be all and end all. So if my club happens to not make too many friends but gets the job done, if anything I will be more entertained as I'll have more to read and speculate about.

Someone quoted on their board that before we won the FA cup no one knew we had a football team. Well as far back as I can remember all Blackpool is noted for is a look a likey Eiffel tower, kiss me quick hats and sticks of boiled sugar that can break your F***ing teeth.

Also that we closed the four corners of our ground when we went into league one. Idiots.

If the roles were reversed and say, Tottenham were tapping up Lallana, would you want Adkins to at the very least STFU? Should he just shrug his shoulders and say "well, everyone does it"

At least our ground has four corners!

This is true, Bloomfield Road only had 3 when I drove past yesterday, it also only has 3 1/2 stands, and I'm sure when I'm back at work on Monday morning it won't have changed.

( Please don't p!ss them off too much in a message board flame war, I do have to work there ).

There's actually a few rumours that it was Villa who tapped him up but we have made an official bid. Who knows? Will it ever come out who did it?

Where'd you hear that?

Does seem kind of strange that SSN, BBC etc don't appear willing to report this development, but I imagine the club told the papers themselves and other outlets are not repeating it just to be on the safe side as I'm sure any club that was falsely accused in the media of illegality or rule breaking would be quick to consult their solicitor.

I have a feeling the FA will laugh off any claim by Holloway! Let's face it everyone thinks he's a loud-mouth. What's more, everyone knows he hates Saints. Holloway is trying to frighten Phillips into staying by making look as if he has also been linked with something against the rules.

Matt Phillips is a Saint in waiting ... I like the sound of that. :)

Do show me where I said we tapped up players from QPR or Coventry. You were the one that talked about positive comments from other clubs. I just gave you two that had less than flattering things to say about us.

And this "we do our deals in private" guff....meh. So does every club in Britain. All of them. It's not something Nicola Cortese invented.

Jeez, what is your problem with Cortese??

No he doesn't at all. His cheeky chappy persona hides a very bitter and hateful individual.

This.

I doubt very much will come of this. I'm sure plenty of people in football's corridors will remember his outbursts when he was getting airtime every day a couple of seasons back, in the PL...

... then again, why so quiet on the transfer front at St. Mary's?

Saints can be banned from signing players as thats the usual punishment for tapping up. They could be stuck with the current team for 1 or 2 windows.

Teams that cheat with transfers tend to get away with it.

Like you lot.
