Danny Rose

We are...it says we will only take him on loan if our other targets fail.

Well the City game is a week Sunday so I'd imagine a fair few other targets have already passed us by. No point taking someone like Rose, he's no better than squad player standard given what we have already. If we're going to make signings they need to be first teamers to strengthen the squad on the top layer, not just add another NPC standard player.

Personally don't think he is any better than Dickson!

Not sure our targets have passed us by yet we still have a week to go until first game - not been that much movement yet.

I expect next week to really see loads move.

I don't know one fan that believes we are ready yet and everyone I talk to agrees we need a defender and

am sure the management do too.

Agree. I would just have liked to see business done in time for players to have a pre season together. I know some people would consider it a load of guff but it's important the players get to know each other personally as much as anything. That said I don't expect too many points from the first 4 games, which is not being down beat but realistic!!

Massive LOL

Oh do f8ck off you conceited tw8t....its my opinion...how many times have you seen Rose play?

I have in the flesh 3 times and he has been abysmal each time. No end product, headless chicken.

Dickson for me is the one defender who actually get to the byeline and delivers a cross and not lumps it in from deep.

He's mates with Cork (or so would seem from the Team GB photos etc). He's actually a fairly decent player, and seeing as we have very little cover for the left side of the team in both midfield and defence, might be a decent shout. Agree we should be trying to get people significantly better than those we already have, but am pretty sure he's a step up from Harding.

My mate who is sat next to me right now goes to see spurs quite a lot home and away. His said he would be quite disaapointed if they let him leave.

He is an U21. Played for GB and started to make in impression on the spurs squad when he has bale in front of him... Probably the best LM in the world

Not my words but that of a spurs fan who see them Loads, home and away

Now, I take that opinion more than one of a saints fan who says he is no better than Dickson

On loan? Not sure what the benefit is.

Signing him permanently? I'd be very excited to see how Adkins and Crosby can get the best out of him. There is a great talent in there somewhere. Don't forget he's been playing under Redknapp for 3-4 years, and he's got a pretty poor record when it comes to youth.

EDIT; let's be honest, Redknapps record with youth is appalling. Never forget the way Mills slated him after leaving for Man City, saying he never felt "part of the group". Big difference to the four that have recently been brought into the first team squad.

I listen to loads of fans on here after the game...I sometimes wonder if they are at the same game as me!

Rose has made the sum total of 13 games since 2007 at Spurs and been put out on loan every year sometimes twice to lower league sides - yet obviously will be missed at Spurs.

I will stick with my thoughts about him rather than listen to you and your mate. If he comes then he will get my support as do they all...just that I personally don't rate him highly.

I don't rate him at all. So much so that I think that given that his U21 and Olympics appearances are behind him, I reckon he'll sign for a Championship side within 2 years. He hasn't made the necessary impact on Tottenham's first team (13 league games in 5 years) and, now 22, really doesn't have many games under him at all (and most of them at Championship level). And he doesn't seem to have a position, not good enough for a left winger and not aware enough for left back.

Oh come on, I don't think Spurs would ever try to offload a hopeless player onto us pretending that they were a massive prospect for the future, only for them never to make a senior appearance for us.

I think we can trust them and we should offer him a five year contract.

TBF he did play one half that fantastic Spurs prospect that all their fans were raving about.

Would you say Stephen O'Halloran is the old Danny Rose?

When Danny Rose has an assist against Orient, then he can be talked about in the same terms as Dickson.

Think Rohan Ricketts.

Just to add a little context, he's currently a free agent after leaving Exeter, having played for the mighty Shamrock Rovers, SV Wilhelmshaven and Dacia Chisinau in the past 2 years.

Stephen O'Halloran is at Nuneaton Town, having played 1 loan game for Saints, none at Leeds, 2 at Swansea. He then signed for Coventry (11 appearances), and signed for Carlisle last season, playing 3 times. He has 2 Republic of Ireland caps, from 5 years ago. He was utter gash at Saints, even in 2008 when there was a lot of it about.

FWIW Lee Molyneux (I've thrown him in for the hell of it) played 9 times for Plymouth in 2010/11 (when relegated from L1 - Jack Stephens played about 4 matches in the same period) and that, along with 4 Saints appearances, is his entire footballing career, he's been "a free agent" for 2 years now. And he played in that match when Plymouth beat us 1-0 at St Mary's... for Plymouth.

Glad I travelled back for that game, and the 1-0 loss to Preston where they scored last minute. Oh and add Bristol City game last xmas to my list of games that I happen to come watch when back home. Had great times....least I got to see us smash Walsall 5-1.

  • 3 months later...

Watching him today I can't help buy think we missed a trick here. Instead of apparently thinking of him as a last resort should have signed him as first choice left back. Great feet, pace, passing range on his left foot and defending well which was always the main worry with him. Not relying on Shaw so early as he's only young, although I do think he will be a top player.

Apparently we're still interested in Kyle Naughton from Spurs.
thought he was head and shoulders the best player back in 2008 when playing for Sheff United against us and could see why Spurs bought him. He's made steady progress since then and think he'd be a good signing.
