U21s vs Sutton

Barnard, Dickson and Forte that's 3 by my count. But you are right it doesn't excuse the rest of them.

After bigging up Johnno Quick I completely forgot about his 27 minute cameo

Pretty poor all round, really. Although seeing the development side thrash others by similar scores it'll be good for them to start playing in a league with proper competition within their age range. And probably give a much better idea as to whether they're ready for the first team/squad.

Just got back. Awful game but I got my pic with Nigel and spoke to him for 10 mins. He was out with the wife (who took the picture). Spoke to him about the new season, the U21 squad, City away. Seems like he’s taking a real interest in the youth, said he’s been playing around with a few formations in training. Normal Adkins esc. Didn’t give much away but a really genuine guy.

Baranrd didn’t do his “shop window” credentials any good. He was poor. Forte was much of the same. I like the look of the number 2 for saints, seemed assured on the ball, playing a right back. Anyone know his name?

Stephens played well, as did Sam Hoskins but nothing to jump around about. Lloyd Isgrove looked lively when he came on too.

The YOUNG guy? No idea, sorry. ;)

P.S. Thanks for the feedback.

I was the bloke who asked you if you'd asked about any new signings just after you walked back down the steps, fella. Anyway, we were poor, gave the ball away far too easily. Long punts up the park were coming straight back from the big bloke at the back out jumping Barney Rubble, and we never controlled the game. Fair play to Sutton, though, they did a job, looked tidy and took the goals well and had a couple of other chances to score. I don't think we bothered their first half keeper at all. We scored a good goal late on, good in the sense that it was a nice finish, but the lino was already flagging a foul in the box (which it was to be fair). I was with you on the right back, Matt Young, until the last goal, when he was way out of position, but up until then, he was in peoples faces and ears, talking his way through the game, which I like. But ultimately, not sure we'll see too many of that squad this season.

Just watched the "highlights"... wow, that was some seriously sloppy defending for all goals.
Thought both our CBs were pretty poor, worrying considering one of them was Jack Stephens. Actually thought our keeper was decent considering the score.

No one else stood out or looked like pushing for the first team any time soon.

Stephens has had a poor start to the season, he looked extremely shaky against Wolves. Certainly not up to a senior place yet on the basis of those two showings.
