I bought him a beer in The Frog & Frigate once. It was a Friday night during the summer. He spent the entire night at the end of the bar with a couple of mates, and was surprisingly rather quiet, almost humble. At the time the UI was running a competition, the question was what was Benalis' nickname, so during a chat I asked him & bought him a beer.

 

As for players I'd like to meet, got to be Alan Ball & Shilts.

I heard a really odd story once from a Bass rep who knew Ruddock and Shearer about the pair of them and hiding in hotel wardrobes
