jawillwill Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 Just to clarify, if we choose a dead person would they be dead when we met them? Or are we assuming they'd come back to life for it? If they did come back to life would they be the same as when they were previously alive or be like a zombie? Can we choose a living player that we would like to meet in zombie form? I'd like to meet Ted Bates, but not sure I'd like him as a zombie. Strangely, if Jos Hooiveld ever dies (obviously I hope he doesn't), I'd like to see him as a zombie because it'd be amusing. Anyway, to answer your question, Ali Dia (who I assume is still alive).
Lets B Avenue Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 Why would you want to meet a dead one? Are you into zombies or necrophilia?
buctootim Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 For me, Francis Benali. Hands down. Thats like finding Aladdins lamp and asking for a packet of maltesers.
maysie Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 Paul Moody Down the pub with David Speedie and Kerry Dixon. A return of the legends.
scotty Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 I have no idea why, but I would love to have a pint with Eric "the cat" Martin. I reckon he'd be the funniest and sweariest player of his era, I remember standing behind the goal in the wilton end as a nipper and him screaming "come on you f*cking f*ckers up the f*cking back, f*cking get on f*cking, you f*ckers". Theres nothing like goalkeeper/defender communication, I've always said that.
doddisalegend Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 David Armstrong when I was a nipper (1982ish) my dad gave me a ball signed by David he won in a raffle. I don't really remember him as a player (though I think he was a bit Richard Chaplow in the hair department) but I chershied that football as a kid. It would kind of be nice to meet the guy who signed it.
The9 Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 Charles William Miller. To see if he really did take football to Brazil and the rest of South America, and see if there was any link between Southampton YMA's sash kit and Peru and River Plate's shirts.
Colinjb Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 James Beattie. Muffin basket would be provided as gratuity.
Surfin' Saint Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 I would imagine Razor Ruddock would be a laugh, have a few stories to tell. If not a Saint then George Best
Jack Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 Thats like finding Aladdins lamp and asking for a packet of maltesers. I'd love to meet Marian Pahars, absolute hero to me as a schoolkid. And Killer. And a weekend on the p*ss with Claus would be interesting.
david in sweden Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 (edited) Anders Svensson I've actually met him several times. Our daughter has a proud photo of herself with him - when she was much younger. He's friendly, cheerful but not much of a conversationalist (outside of football)...but he is quite knowledgeable about the game. Mind you with 125+ caps for Sweden - you'd expect that. up and away Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 Without doubt the best value for money is Mark Dennis. Worth the pint every time, even though I hardly ever agree with what he is saying, he brings up a smile every time. Still have the thoughts of him chassising out of the suites with sandwiches poking out of his pockets.
Turkish Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 Down the pub with David Speedie and Kerry Dixon. A return of the legends. They will score more goals than Alan Shearer this season. FACT
edprice1984 Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 Saints player (Alive) - Marian Pahars Saints player (No longer with us) - Alan Ball World player (Alive) - Maradona World player (No longer with us) - Garrincha
buctootim Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 Garrincha Thanks for that. I'd never heard of him and had to look him up. Im glad I did, great life story.
Toomer Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 I was round at Nicky Bangers house Monday evening and will be in his company next Wednesday at a charity function for his daughter (see sticky) would think there will a few other Ex Saints there,
dubai_phil Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 Would have loved to meet a real great like Ron Davies (jealous of you TT) or a night out with Peter Osgood or Charlie George Was insanely lucky to have been in the same pub for lunch as Bally who I had lunch with - Legend Salisbury Saints - Race Night at Wilton... I'm probably the only one who remembered anything (I took a camera = ex wife chucked the album) but I know Moran Armstrong & Nick Holmes were there (they'll deny any memory as well) London Saints end of Season Party after last game at the Dell. The guys who went will know why Doddsy buying beers, MLT signing anything and Rupert talking sense - that never happened before or after
StVince1966 Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 i would have loved to have met ted drake (i am a distant relation) although an arsenal legend a southampton boy born and bred
batterseasaint Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 A few years back I was lucky enough to spend a wonderful lunch with Pete Rodrigues, Jim Steele, Peter Osgood and Mel Blyth. That was quite something.
St.Jeweller Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 I know he wasn't a player but i'd like to meet Markus and let him know that we're in the Prem.
Golden Balls Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 I know he wasn't a player but i'd like to meet Markus and let him know that we're in the Prem. This would be my one too. Just to say thank you. I'd love to go for a pint with Razor Ruddock. I was fortunate enough to meet Peter Osgood and just sat there listening while he told stories. Top bloke. I was also fortunate enough to play football with Alan Ball. I probably think of that moment at least twice a day!
Raging Bull Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 Heskey, just to ask a) when did you last score (a goal not poonaneeee) and b) how the feck did you get so many England caps!!
mynameisthehulk Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 I once met Franny at D Stanley barbers on St Denys Road. He was having a haircut
Plonko Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Claus has got to be a pretty good laugh for a night out on the pop.
ladysaint Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 My choice would be Steve Middleton (RIP) a truly great player and was destined for a brilliant career and would have no doubt played for England.
Lets B Avenue Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 My choice would be Steve Middleton (RIP) a truly great player and was destined for a brilliant career and would have no doubt played for England. Unless you are taking the pi ss, I hope you mean Steve Mills.

RedArmy Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 I'd love to have a day at the races with Channon, and a round of golf with Tiss.
Cheese on Toast Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Tommy Forecast, so I could tell how much I hate him
Bearsy Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Tommy Forecast, so I could tell how much I hate him Player hater
Cheese on Toast Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Player hater He doesn't count as he's not a human being
Miltonaggro Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 My uncle used to have a car sales / garage off the Avenue in the mid 1970s and used to spend several afternoons a week at the Cowherds with the infamous Saints reprobates of that era (the post training sessions). I was about ten at the time, and saw the aftermath a couple of times. Love to have been in attendance with that lot!...
