Hamilton Saint Posted 7 August, 2012 Share Posted 7 August, 2012 Steve Corns @Cornsy69 Excellent performance tonight, unfortun8 2 concede a worldy goal but generally bossed the game!! #positive "worldy" goal?
krissyboy31 Posted 7 August, 2012 Share Posted 7 August, 2012 "worldy" goal? Yes, a bit of an exaggeration. It was a decent goal that was bent around KD (although I think he could have done better with it) but not "worldy."
buctootim Posted 7 August, 2012 Share Posted 7 August, 2012 It was a decent goal that was bent around KD Am I right in thinking the FL are still using the ball that moves a lot in flight, but the PL are using a 'truer' ball this season?

lillyflo Posted 8 August, 2012 Share Posted 8 August, 2012 So were we in the Yellow kit tonight? Is it officially our 3rd kit yet? It was last seasons away kit they were wearing. And for the record, Puncheon was very good last night, if he can play like that consistently he will be good next season, opposite end of the scale was Fraser Richardson who was utter pants, looked slow and completely off the pace. S-Clarke Posted 8 August, 2012 Share Posted 8 August, 2012 Just lifted a post from TUI, are these people serious? What is with our fans? You'd think they'd have some decent knowledge after all the years following saints, but they seem totally obvious to how things work in the professional game. I believe the time for experimenting with new formation etc. has gone. I believe the time for adding new signings has gone. Last night we should have seen what, in the main, would be our Premier lineup

Perhaps it would be better if you didn't edit it, or take it out of context! It was referring to the Udinese game, and the obvious lack of signing of a central defender.. here is the whole post.. I believe the time for experimenting with new formation etc. has gone. I believe the time for adding new signings has gone. Last night we should have seen what, in the main, would be our Premier lineup, and certainly on Saturday we should field a side that should start our first Premier game, given injuries. I couldn't name the side that will start at Man City, not on anything we have seen so far! I certainly hope NA can. We have allowed the transfer window to slip by without too much strengthening, now is time for the club to show us what kind of season we can expect without the usual b'sh*t about how good our academy is. There has been none or little movement in the last fortnight towards solving our weakness at CH! Are we to believe we are risking our Premier future on what we have now, with the promise of a couple of hopefuls from the youth team? FFS I'd sooner get Aaron back from Palace Edited 9 August, 2012 by patred44

FFS I'd sooner get Aaron back from Palace Experimenting with the formation? We're doing it now so that we can use it when it actually matters. If you went to the pre-season games and can't see what we gain from it, then I would suggest taking your head out of your arse. The team that started the Bristol match, like it or not, is pretty darn close to how we will line up against City. It's widely agreed that we need a few signings. I am fully confident that Les Reed, Paul Mitchell and Nigel Adkins aren't sitting on their backsides, deluding themselves that we don't need anyone. I don't pretend to know what happens at the club, but can you see that being the scenario? With the olympics going on, the rumour mill has taken a back seat and as we know, selling clubs/agents like to get their business out in the open to raise interest, so the market will have slowed down. The market generally has been quite slow in the last few weeks and I expect it to pick up once to olympics finishes.

FFS I'd sooner get Aaron back from Palace The first parts of what you said were false though, so I didn't take them out of context as ti was pretty obvious. Pre-seson is the time to try things. I bet you that if we stuck to the same formation during pre-season, and didn't have a plan B, you'd be one of the first complaining about our lack of tactical options during the season and why don't we have a plan a,b, c etc. This is the only time we can try things like this, if they weren't trying it they'd be proving to be pretty incompetent at their job. What do you mean the time for adding new signings has gone? Has the transfer deadline changed? I thought it was the 31st? That's the deadline, that's when the time will have ended to add players, not before. Saying things like that just frustrates as it's so wrong and just screams of someone wetting their pants for no real reason.

I get the sense on the UI that pat, along with a few others are chomping at the bit for the club to hit a dodgy wicket so they can lay the boot into NC. Isn't most of their hate still driven from the fact that Illinsgsworth couldn't get a ST? But you're right, any little negative that they can twist and fire back towards the club is like ammunition to them. Unfortunately it seems some from that site are starting to infiltrate here. The9 Posted 9 August, 2012 Share Posted 9 August, 2012 So were we in the Yellow kit tonight? Is it officially our 3rd kit yet? It's "official" in the sense that it has Prem numbers on it and a bloke who works in the megastore has told me that's what they plan to use as a third kit (and why they sold it off cheap, being "they didn't think anyone would buy last season's kit as a third kit"). Having forsaken the (alternate 2011/12 away) blue socks worn at Exeter for the (2011/12 away) white ones at Bristol City, that does now mean we have two sets of white socks out of the 4 colours we could have available, which seems a bit silly... stick with yellow/blue/blue for a nice, solid 3 sets of kit. The9 Posted 9 August, 2012 Share Posted 9 August, 2012 worthy ......perhaps ? "Worldy" means "world class", as stated earlier in the thread. It's hyperbole, and about as legitimate as the modern use of "legend". This was supported by the eyewitness account of the same goal earlier in the thread which described the use of "worldy" as "a bit of an exaggeration" and the goal as merely "decent".
