hypochondriac Posted 7 August, 2012 Share Posted 7 August, 2012 Really? How so? I'm not sure how lashing out £15M on an upgraded training ground that can't be seen yet (and apparently is over the top in requirements given that we've already achieved top ranking in Premier League Academy ratings without it) is any surefire way to sell a club and maximise profits. Edit; I forgot the ;-) thing..... Could easily be explained by cortese not actually having control over the club and continuing with business as usual. As I said though this is most likely not true. As I said though this is most likely not true. LOL - If Cortese didn't have control over the club and sanctioned 15 million pounds worth of spending he would be sacked in a nano second (As would any CEO in any other business) At the point in which we had made the prem and the 33m loan note was converted into equity, the club became very saleable. I thought at the time, that if the Liebherrs were going to sell then that would be the perfect time. Since then we have continued to invest in players (You could argue, that we are simply in line with the additional Prem money) and the carrot of the new stadium plans, coupled with the development at Staplewood, suggests they are here for a while. That doesn't mean it we are not for sale, but even if we are Cortese isn't selling his baby to "oldknow" or oldknows mates (See Turkishes post). ladysaint Posted 8 August, 2012 Share Posted 8 August, 2012 Your point being? Well I would have thought it was obvious - the Middle East connection.

Ha ha - You should know better than posting a valid link on here and then getting a sarky response. Certainly an intresting link between the orginal story and then what appears to be oldknows connections, but can't see Cortese selling anything to oldknow. Golden Balls Posted 8 August, 2012 Share Posted 8 August, 2012 Isn't this a rumour the skates make up on POL and twitter constantly out of envy? Don't give it the time of day. The family clearly aren't actively looking to sell
angelman Posted 8 August, 2012 Share Posted 8 August, 2012 I've always thought that we are up for sale, esp if/when we got to the PL. The man who bought us has died, and left it to his children. Why should they want to continue owning a football club? With us in the PL, the value of the asset would be much improved, so now is the perfect time to sell from the point of view of Marcus' children. A couple of friends of mine who work in the industry have suggested the same thing. There's a big difference between lining up a sale and being desperate to offload, of course. Crazy Diamond Posted 8 August, 2012 Share Posted 8 August, 2012 If it happens, it happens. I really don't know what the fuss is about. I also would like to believe that if we were to be sold it wouldn't be to a bunch of bloody cowboys and a hell of a lot of research was done. If it's from that football rumours place then lock this thread immediately - also mods, please ban anyone that copies from that site of utter arse gravy. He seems pretty convinced of getting into Europe so we would become even more of an asset then. Also, they seemed a pretty tight family. Maybe the children are happy to contiune living out Markus' dream? Finally, for people with their wealth, owning a football club is a drop in the ocean in terms of expense. Nicola is doing the leg work so they have nothing to worry about. We will be sold one day....I just don't see it happening for a while.

I have an old gold ring, it's a buckle ring and is about 120 years old. It belonged to my mother. My friend has a painting of a horse fair by Leo Whelan. My Aunt has a full collection of fine Bone China tableware with Silver cutlery. They are all worth money. Lots of money. And they all belonged to a parent that died. And we wouldn't sell for the world. I know that a football club, especially one recently purchased, is probably something different. But just because they are in business, doesn't mean they are heartless bastards just out to make a quick buck. Fulfilling the dream of a deceased parent for what must be a minor outlay for them, and the fact that they don't have to pump **** loads of money into the team, perhaps means more to his wife and children than another diamond encrusted backscratcher, © C.Montgomery Burns. I'm sentimentally atttached to this football club, but if you offered me £30m to never see or hear the results again, I would bite your fecking arm off

SuperMikey Posted 10 August, 2012 Share Posted 10 August, 2012 Not sure if this has been mentioned already and it may well be old news, but Adam Blackmore replied to a tweet about NC confirming that he was abroad, but not necessarily on holiday. Possibly meeting with 'new investors'?

ART Posted 11 August, 2012 Share Posted 11 August, 2012 2 + 2 = 5!!!! Mike Ashley, Newcastle Chairman was last night named as one of the 3 till now unnamed investors in New Rangers. Negotiations were held in Europe in the past week. Could it be one of the other two investors could be Cortese and the Liebherr family? Would be a very nice and potentially lucrative piece of business.
