eelpie Posted 13 August, 2012 Share Posted 13 August, 2012 So, since SFC are responsible for adapting the template to suit SFC needs, who at the club can we email to express our concerns (I am not on facebook)? err... so nobody here knows who to contact at SMS to discuss the new website. It used to be that Saints forums had plenty of contacts in the media department. We still should have. How things have changed. This is not a good situation. It is not good that fans are not consulted and that the club does not want to hear our views.

Saint Jude Posted 16 August, 2012 Share Posted 16 August, 2012 Just to add my complaints to everyone else. I was originally an ergonomist designing UX systems for mission critical systems and then went over into ecommerce systems etc. yes Sapientnitro are a pretty reasonable agency... But something is seriously wrong with the new OS and it's UX. ...and please don't let them hide behind the "it's new, you'll just get used to it". It's poorly put together, loads slowly, has poor colour contrast...there's no use story...(too many options).. And looks like it's been designed by someone who likes graphics, but doesn't care about users...I.e. they've tried too hard to make it look groovy and forgotten about the users... Like some others have said, probably very likely that this is a combination of the generic template and content management system from someone like Sapient and content from internal people... (I.e. looks like it's slow because it loads all the background photos for all the news stories when you load the page at the start)... But long and short... It's unusable on tablets devices, and slow/poor on laptops/desktop on both safari/ Internet explorer...
eelpie Posted 17 August, 2012 Share Posted 17 August, 2012 Isn't it time that we had a poll on the new website, mods? Something like.. Do you think that the new OS website is better or worse than the previous one? Better Worse
AussieDog Posted 17 August, 2012 Share Posted 17 August, 2012 I used to visit the OS every day. Now I'll visit once a week, and even then will leave the site feeling annoyed and frustrated. The club really don't seem concerned about increasing the fan base - or even keeping those who can't go to every game. They seem to fail to realise that making information easily accessible stimulates conversation and interest. Another example of their attitude is the fact that a large percentage of reserve games (sorry..."development squad") are played behind closed doors. As a kid, when I couldn't afford to go to a 1st team match at the Dell I'd make the effort to go and watch the reserves to see the future stars and maybe one or two first teamers who would be coming back from injury. Thank God for Sky Sports!
aussiesaint20 Posted 17 August, 2012 Share Posted 17 August, 2012 Just had to log in to also voice my strong dislike at the new website. I'm sure the designers and overseers will see our responses as change phobic and they'll think we will get used to in time. That's just not going to happen. It appears uninviting, frustrating to navigate and like others I've no longer got it as my home page.
The9 Posted 17 August, 2012 Share Posted 17 August, 2012 The worst thing about it for me is that I get LOADING TIMES for pictures, headlines and articles to appear. Even going to other teams' sites with the same template I don't have that problem. I don't find it difficult to navigate though, it's probably easier and less cluttered than the previous one, but the roll-over is a massive faff and needing to scroll down for the main news list is annoying as hell. Not to mention that it means I have to wait for the page to load again! I did a basic course in web design and page load times are stressed even at basic level. Pugwash Posted 24 August, 2012 Share Posted 24 August, 2012 Utterly unusable on my Galaxy S3. It's so dark when the player pop-up screen initiates, that the screen is totally black. Took me 4 or 5 attempts to reload before I realised that the page had actually loaded but was invisible. Looking at all the other comments, it's clear that it's not "Fit for Purpose". The club should ditch it on this basis alone.

SW11_Saint Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 This site truly is appalling. As someone involved in web design it breaks almost every rule. Trying to buy tickets now, and it is literally impossible - takes you to a ticket selection screen and leaves you hanging (as a distraction you are able to see your potential view from the ground if you ever were successful!). Anyone had any success? No navigation help. No FAQ's of any use. Just appalling as a commercial site.
