Saints official website is rubbish

It's basically a carbon copy of Stoke City's chaps, every button. Theirs is slightly better because they play in red and white stripes...

Have you read any of this thread ? We know it's the same as a load of others...

So, since SFC are responsible for adapting the template to suit SFC needs, who at the club can we email to express our concerns (I am not on facebook)?

err... so nobody here knows who to contact at SMS to discuss the new website.

It used to be that Saints forums had plenty of contacts in the media department. We still should have. How things have changed.

This is not a good situation. It is not good that fans are not consulted and that the club does not want to hear our views.

I know about these. But I am talking about WHO at the various sites to contact. it is best to have names always, otherwise replies tend to be formulaic and often do not address the issue.

Just to add my complaints to everyone else. I was originally an ergonomist designing UX systems for mission critical systems and then went over into ecommerce systems etc. yes Sapientnitro are a pretty reasonable agency... But something is seriously wrong with the new OS and it's UX.

...and please don't let them hide behind the "it's new, you'll just get used to it". It's poorly put together, loads slowly, has poor colour contrast...there's no use story...(too many options).. And looks like it's been designed by someone who likes graphics, but doesn't care about users...I.e. they've tried too hard to make it look groovy and forgotten about the users...

Like some others have said, probably very likely that this is a combination of the generic template and content management system from someone like Sapient and content from internal people... (I.e. looks like it's slow because it loads all the background photos for all the news stories when you load the page at the start)...

But long and short... It's unusable on tablets devices, and slow/poor on laptops/desktop on both safari/ Internet explorer...

I used to visit the OS every day. Now I'll visit once a week, and even then will leave the site feeling annoyed and frustrated. The club really don't seem concerned about increasing the fan base - or even keeping those who can't go to every game. They seem to fail to realise that making information easily accessible stimulates conversation and interest. Another example of their attitude is the fact that a large percentage of reserve games (sorry..."development squad") are played behind closed doors. As a kid, when I couldn't afford to go to a 1st team match at the Dell I'd make the effort to go and watch the reserves to see the future stars and maybe one or two first teamers who would be coming back from injury.

Thank God for Sky Sports!

Just had to log in to also voice my strong dislike at the new website. I'm sure the designers and overseers will see our responses as change phobic and they'll think we will get used to in time. That's just not going to happen. It appears uninviting, frustrating to navigate and like others I've no longer got it as my home page.

The worst thing about it for me is that I get LOADING TIMES for pictures, headlines and articles to appear. Even going to other teams' sites with the same template I don't have that problem.

I don't find it difficult to navigate though, it's probably easier and less cluttered than the previous one, but the roll-over is a massive faff and needing to scroll down for the main news list is annoying as hell.

I am amazed that it is still a pile of Pooh, yes I am a lucky boy with an iPad, but I can't be in a massive minority in this day in age. But I am also a lazy git who will go to his iPad over firing up a traditional computer/laptop. Still I expect this Ramirez business is distracting everyone at SMS.

The fact that I click on a story to read it and then have to click the read more bit to read the whole story is bloody ridiculous! What's wrong with just showing the whole story?

This times a thousand. The whole site is bad enough, but this is the most ridiculous bit of web design I have ever seen.

It has nothing to do with Saints, all they have control of is the content that goes into the site. The technical bits and UX design are all SapientNitro, they build the buckets basically and Saints fill it.

Not to mention that it means I have to wait for the page to load again! I did a basic course in web design and page load times are stressed even at basic level. Really, if a page takes more than a second to load, then it's wrong. Get those image sizes down!

I've just written to the club about it.

Do they make other club's sites?

They're responsible for signing the contract in the first place! I hope Cortese is counting the days until they can bin it!!

I honestly don't have a massive problem with it as I've got a 100mb connection. But I think people with slower internet connections will feel the strain though, it's a very heavy site. Designed with ''superfast broadband'' in mind..!

I have speedy infinity and it's still poo.

I also have a friend working at SMS and they said that the new site is not very good, people aware of it too.

Noticed Blackpool have the same and that is carp too. Typical FA if it's a league wide must have template, "lunch was nice thanks" "weekend in Paris! How lovely!" "week in the Maldives!! Where do I sign".......

Technically SFC only signed a contract with Football League Interactive, who in turn subcontracted the actual site development to SapientNitro (and Perform before them). The clubs have no say at all in which company gets the contract, sadly.

So clubs have no control over the structre and design of the website, only the content?

Seems a strange way to do things.

Utterly unusable on my Galaxy S3. It's so dark when the player pop-up screen initiates, that the screen is totally black. Took me 4 or 5 attempts to reload before I realised that the page had actually loaded but was invisible.

Looking at all the other comments, it's clear that it's not "Fit for Purpose". The club should ditch it on this basis alone.

Has anyone tried to use the online system to buy Utd tickets? Firstly, I have been through every block in the whole ground and there is not a single ticket available. It's not been announced that it's sold out though. Secondly, I can't for the life of me figure out how to scroll down lover than row Y on the seating plan.

There is something you can click that enables you to scroll. I can't recall what it says but take another look, there is something there, maybe like a little arrow or something.

Might be a blessing in disguise but I have not been able to access it since last night, have tried Firefox & Explorer on PC and wife's Macbook cant access either. All other sites work and I have cleared cache.

Any one else have this problem as I cant see comment anywhere?

Does anyone else get the little box pop up everything they go on? Mentions cookies and normally advertising something. I then have to click enter site to get in.? Its very annoying!

Yep.

The idea of a splash screen like that is that it appears the first time you visit the site and then doesn't reappear on subsequent visits. Clearly it's not working like that at the moment

This site truly is appalling. As someone involved in web design it breaks almost every rule.

Trying to buy tickets now, and it is literally impossible - takes you to a ticket selection screen and leaves you hanging (as a distraction you are able to see your potential view from the ground if you ever were successful!). Anyone had any success?

No navigation help. No FAQ's of any use. Just appalling as a commercial site.

Your opinion is the longer/more technical one but we are in agreement !

When asked, I just say that it is crap :)

I've just been on the ticket site and you need to click the DRAG button, then you can drag the seated area around in the window. You cannot scroll up and down.

Hope that helps.

Note: I'm using Safari on a Mac. Other browsers may behave differently.
