Saints official website is rubbish

I went there looking for reviews of the pre-season games. It's just a mechanism to sell you the saints player and sky sports now, there's hardly any other content.

Its a bit too photo-heavy for my liking, far too slow to load and with annoying pop ups and photos appearing then disappearing. I don't mind the structure of it and there's some good parts to it, its just a bit too busy. In any case, people will get used to it. Its better than the old site, that was sh*te. The navigation seems to make a bit more sense too.

Website design is not a subject of any great interest to me, but if the aim of the exercise is to promote the club, sell it products, and keep fans informed of developments in a clear and easily usable manner then no only does the new design fail miserably, it is also manifestly inferior to what went before.

 

On a more positive note, at least this morning I was able to access my account for the first time in days - after successfully resetting the password - which leads me to suspect that work is ongoing behind the scenes to rectify some of its more obvious flaws. More pre launch testing might have saved a great deal of bother for all concerned however.

Not sure what you're looking at, but the friendlies are all listed in the main fixtures and results tab.

I did comment on a similar thread a couple of days ago. Red text on a black background is difficult to read even if you are not in any way colour blind. The black background makes the site look dismal to say the least. Navigation is poor and it now seems to be a marketing device for Saints Player. I also said that people should send their comments to the club as I doubt they are scanning these threads for any feedback.

The white type on black background hurts my eyes and gives me headaches. A health issue that they should consider. So I can't use it comfortably, which is a pity, because I used to read the OS a lot.

Must admit I dont like it either. Haven't commented since it was launched thinking I would get used to it. I haven't - if anything its become even more annoying. Its got lots of new stupid filler noises, for example when loading a saintsplayer vid, presumably to 'sex them up'. Its doesnt - it just gets on my tits and makes me want to cancel.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the club. It's the football league interactive contract which shed loads of clubs are locked into for years, and years and years. I know for a fact that we've tried our hardest to get out of it this year, and the general consensus was that we would, but it seems even though we've been promoted we're still locked in for the remainder of the contract. I believe it's something like 6 years, may be wrong though.

Never really went on the old one so cant opine on whether this version is any better or worse. Whats annoyed me though is the Saints Player tie-in, when I go on there it comes up with the OS homepage, and I suddenly have to navigate through various links to get to the damn thing. Very irritating imho.

Hmm, I think it is okay (Google Chrome on a PC), obviously could be better designed, but don't understand why people are getting at the club. Out of interest what are you all actually using it for that makes it difficult to use (I can't see a need to do that much on it), the content has never been that good. I use it for SaintsPlayer and reading news stories and no issues to report.

I used to have it as one of my home pages but taken it off now. Looks nice if you like pictures but I tend to go to the OS for info and that seems to be hidden away a little now. Sure there are a few teathing problems but its the general view and feel thats put me off. Most of the time I view the OS on my phone when I am waiting for a program to load or a download to finish. Ive always prefered to view the full desktop site on my phone which is now almost impossible.

 

So for me its been binned and I will rarely go and look. I wonder if there will be enough of a decrease in hits for the powers that be to notice? Doubt it as Im sure there will be as many liking the change as there are that dont.

 

Plenty of other ways to get news, its just a shame that the official site will be one of the last places I go.
