dannysfc Posted 7 August, 2012 Share Posted 7 August, 2012 Am thinking of getting tickets for the Man City game at some point this week for me and 2 of my brothers even though it's on Sky on a Sunday and that one of my brothers lives up in London so am seeing that whether I should either go with 1 of my brothers straight to Manchester Piccadilly or to go via London to Piccadilly and go with my other brother from Euston with Virgin Trains so if people can give me some advice on what route to take then that would be Great!?! Also does anyone know how many will likely be going from us lot or not as seeing as it's on Sky then am not sure if many will go But I could be wrong and we could take a fair few thousand to it!?! Finally I checked http://www.footballgroundguide.com and found that the 'The Stanley' (aka Sports Bar) pub does let both home & away fans in and is 10 minutes away from the ground and also there is the 'Townley' on Albert Street that also lets away fans in which is 5 minutes away from the ground but wearing colours would not be advised as other than that it should be okay and it is also says to avoid the 'Queen Victoria' pub as it is Not advised for away supporters...!!! Otherwise alcohol is available inside the stadium (Singha £3.50, Fosters £3.20, Strongbow £3.20, John Smiths bitter £3). Thanks! COYR!!!
jawillwill Posted 7 August, 2012 Share Posted 7 August, 2012 Go via London. It takes about the same amount of time I think, but at least you get an hour or so strolling round the underground network. The virgin train from Euston to Manchester is also nicer/faster with fewer stops than the direct Southampton to Manchester train. There's lots of places to drink in Manchester. You should all try Canal Street. Everyone there is very friendly.
St Lej Posted 7 August, 2012 Share Posted 7 August, 2012 I think the key point you wanted to make here is that it's on a sky and a Sunday yet you're still going.

melmacian_saint Posted 7 August, 2012 Share Posted 7 August, 2012 Virgin Trains are great. It's also a very smooth connection journey through the underground from Waterloo to Euston so you'll be fine. Not sure about the price but given I've found cheaper deals on Flybe for travel up to Manchester than Cross Country's fares I imagine there's almost no difference. This Charming Man Posted 8 August, 2012 Share Posted 8 August, 2012 I think the key point you wanted to make here is that it's on a sky and a Sunday yet you're still going. Pretty sure the key point is he's asking what's the best train route to Manchester. Go with your brother and get the train from Euston. Much quicker than the Cross Country service which stops everywhere. I had to use the Southampton to Manchester service yesterday to go to Birmingham for work and the carriages were baking hot. Much prefer Virgin's service, myself.
dannysfc Posted 8 August, 2012 Author Share Posted 8 August, 2012 Yeh have spoken to my brother who I am going with and that I think that we will end up going from Euston to Manchester Piccadilly on Virgin instead of Cross Country as I prefer going with Virgin than Cross Country and he will look into booking seats once I've got the match tickets for the game!!! Even though it's a week and 4 days away-(11 days!) I am starting to look forward to this as it'l be 1 week to go on Sunday so Bring It On...!!! COYR!!!
