dune Posted 5 August, 2012 Share Posted 5 August, 2012 Been a fortnight now and am still chuffing away happily on e-lites. Spent about 50 quid on all the bits and bobs and threw my fags away to remove temptation. It's been surprisingly effortless. http://www.e-lites.co.uk/
View From The Top Posted 5 August, 2012 Share Posted 5 August, 2012 I went the cold turkey route some 20 years ago. Relied on will power, polo mints & staying out of the pub. Glad I did it though.
The Kraken Posted 5 August, 2012 Share Posted 5 August, 2012 I'm 4 weeks off the fags now; jut found that I'd had enough of smoking and stopped. Not missing it either. Although I've "quit" a couple of times before (once for 5 years) before starting up again so we'll what happens this time round.

SNSUN Posted 5 August, 2012 Share Posted 5 August, 2012 Good on you. Before my wedding in June, I went 10 weeks without smoking, bought up a Liberro Realis e-fag box set, and "quit" surprisingly effortlessly. As the wedding drew nearer, I grew more stressed, and ended up smoking again. I did feel much better not smoking though, and for a few weeks after not smoking I was hacking up all manner of grossness. Now I'm smoking again, but I'm enjoying it less than I did before, so it won't be long before I try quitting again. Cold Turkey requires tons of will power which I've demonstrated I don't have. E-Fags are the best solution, you get the nicotine hit (and have something to puff on) without the tar and chemicals and disgustingness in normal fags. One problem I did find though is that because they last so long per cartridge, I was toking almost constantly on nights out, and I woke up the next morning with a burning in my throat. norwaysaint Posted 5 August, 2012 Share Posted 5 August, 2012 Gave up 14 years ago. I just stopped, none of these silly wishy-washy substitutes. If you want to stop you will. The pub was definitely the hardest place to stick to it though. Also, smokers love company and all of my smoking friends kept offering me ciggies despite my having given up, so you don't get much support. The fact is, if you're a smoker you're just another drug addict and I didn't want to be that any more. Good luck, dune.
Bubby Posted 10 August, 2012 Share Posted 10 August, 2012 Hello Dune, I stopped smoking 3 weeks ago today after smoking for 20 years on the roll ups. Had patches for 3 days then went cold turkey, it was easy until last week when sitting on a beach I fancied smoke nico. Got over it and got home without a smoke, went to Tesco yesterday and got one of them e-lite cigs and am thinking I'm going backwards?
