swannymere Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 a man, would Gary Lineker have a job? She's been bloody brilliant during the Olympics whilst Lineker has been a great impression of a sack of spuds. Who else has impressed you on the commentary teams? Cavendish, Michael Johnson are two others.
Turkish Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 The Lad with the West country accent who was the guest on the cycling yesterday was hilarious. His comment about the girls team who got gold and broke the world record being " emotional things" cracked me up
doubleonothing Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 The bird who's been doing the morning shift after BBC breakfast has been good. Misha Hussein? Balding has been very good in the aquatic centre and has forged a decent partnership with Foster
hypochondriac Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 I liked ian Thorpe even if he was a bit camp.
View From The Top Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 She has easily been the best broadcaster alongside John Inverdale.
eurosaint Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 What's Lineker done that's so wrong ? As an ex footballer with no media background until Match of the Day I think he has done pretty well ! It's easy to knock people in his position but I don't see on what grounds he deserves it !
The Kraken Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Talking of commentators, I heard yesterday that Colin Jackson and Mark Foster are a couple.
swannymere Posted 5 August, 2012 Author Posted 5 August, 2012 Talking of commentators, I heard yesterday that Colin Jackson and Mark Foster are a couple. I thought that was common knowledge, they would have fantastic looking children.
The Kraken Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 I thought that was common knowledge, they would have fantastic looking children. Maybe it is, but the first I'd heard of it. Apparently they've been together for a few years.
toofarnorth Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Gabby Logan has been brilliant on the evening round-up show. Really a class apart.
Ziggy Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 The Lad with the West country accent who was the guest on the cycling yesterday was hilarious. His comment about the girls team who got gold and broke the world record being " emotional things" cracked me up That was Geraint Thomas from Cardiff.
Sheaf Saint Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 I thought Jonathan Edwards was very good while watching the athletics yesterday.

Hatch Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 This is good. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19134764
Thedelldays Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 This is good. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19134764 even Michael Johnson is hooked on Team GB
bridge too far Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 even Michael Johnson is hooked on Team GB He lives in the UK, doesn't he?
latter day saint Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 even Michael Johnson is hooked on Team GB i may be wrong but i think he was cheering on the American who got the silver, Galen Rupp
dune Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Clair Balding is a proper fathers daughter, very efficient and articulate. Lineker on the other hand isn't very good.
SO16_Saint Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Didn't like Balding have a pop at Adlington after her 'failure' at getting only a bronze. She was obviously told off air to apologise.
dune Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Didn't like Balding have a pop at Adlington after her 'failure' at getting only a bronze. She was obviously told off air to apologise. She does put her foot in it. Remember her telling the national winner he could get his teeth fixed now.
SO16_Saint Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Great bit of tv just shown again when Mo.won he gold and the BBC commentary team were going mental - including the Yank
hypochondriac Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Great bit of tv just shown again when Mo.won he gold and the BBC commentary team were going mental - including the Yank Yeah was cool. Michael Johnson is a legend of the sport and did it all clean
dune Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Great bit of tv just shown again when Mo.won he gold and the BBC commentary team were going mental - including the Yank I thought it was thoroughly uncivilised behaviour.
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Great stuff, always appreciate any footage of Denise Lewis, very attractive IMO.
chocco boxo Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 I thought that was common knowledge, they would have fantastic looking children. Foster Children no doubt!
benjii Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 I liked ian Thorpe even if he was a bit camp. Lol. He was ****ing awful.
hypochondriac Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 Lol. He was ****ing awful. Liked his observations about swimming like body shape
JPTCount Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 she's awful. actually makes my skin crawl, I've never found boasting about being privileged entertaining. and that comment about cuz shes a massive lesbo she is unbias towards a sexy male body... lineker is just agiant penis, my mate worked final score for a cpl of years and Gary never gave anyone too low down the time of day. also heard he traded a kiss n tell story for a leukemia one :-o

Can you give an example of your first point? I've never heard her boast about her background, and on the second point she's actually correct.
hypochondriac Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 Can you give an example of your first point? I've never heard her boast about her background, and on the second point she's actually correct. Is it because she speaks with a posh accent?
Barry the Badger Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 This is good. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19134764 mmmmmmmmm. Newsreader lady. Like her.
Chez Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 Balding is excellent, as is Barry Davies. Like Richie Woodhall as well. Colin Jackson is simply woeful unless describing hurdles
buctootim Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 She does put her foot in it. Remember her telling the national winner he could get his teeth fixed now. It was fair comment tbf.
bridge too far Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 I thought Matt Baker was up there with the best of commentators. OK he's a very experienced broadcaster anyway and a former gymnast, but his enthusiasm for the gymnastics was infectious, especially compared to his two co-commentators who gave great insight to the technical aspects but who both have very boring voices.

It's just a shame when they put him in the studio as the anchor he's useless.
bridge too far Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 I thought he was rubbish. That convinces me that my opinion is correct then
Special K Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 Is it because she speaks with a posh accent? I think she speaks without any real accent. But she is lucid, knowledgable and professional. Certainly one of the better presenters out there. The boy Line-aker has been fine and it's nice to hear from experienced athletes like Thorpe, Foster, Johnson, et al putting a bit of flesh on the bones. Always thought John Inverdale is one of the best presenters around, too. Glad they have confined that little jerk Hollins to the breakfast programme though and not got him involved in commentary / presenting of the events!
dune Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 That convinces me that my opinion is correct then I wouldn't have thought you'd have needed any convincing. Very un Socialist of you.
Minty Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 The Beeb have used a few commentators and presenters to try and appeal to a younger audience and in the main I think they've been very good. Matt Baker has been a very good presenter, I agree with btf. Quite what they were thinking by involving Trevor Nelson at the opening ceremony I don't know though... Lineker is ok as a frontman but not for anything much beyond that IMO. Balding is excellent, Inverdale has been ok, and the news woman has been fine too. On the commentator front, Baker was really good to listen to. The other one of note IMO is Steve Cram... carving out a pretty good niche for himself and has a good balance of knowledge and excitement to complement the track events. Too many others to recall but they're the ones who stick out.

JPTCount Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 Can you give an example of your first point? I've never heard her boast about her background, and on the second point she's actually correct. she's always going on about daddy and his horses so she's more bias towards sexy females...?
bridge too far Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 she's always going on about daddy and his horses so she's more bias towards sexy females...? Her grandfather, father and brother were / are racehorse trainers - so they're not 'daddy's horses' but rather horses that 'daddy' trained.

The other one of note IMO is Steve Cram... carving out a pretty good niche for himself and has a good balance of knowledge and excitement to complement the track events. Too many others to recall but they're the ones who stick out. In my opinion the best commentator in the country is Mike Costello who does the athletics and boxing on 5live. He is consumate, knowledgeable, and best of all doesn't just chuck out knee jerk opinions like most of the loons doing the football. On TV I'd say Hugh Porter on the track cycling is the best by a long way. He's an ex world champion on the track too so has plenty of experience to back up his commentary.
JPTCount Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 Her grandfather, father and brother were / are racehorse trainers - so they're not 'daddy's horses' but rather horses that 'daddy' trained. ye I know, she goes on about it
latter day saint Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 Claire Balding had erect nipples earlier at the show jumping. for a fraction of a second, i had sexual thoughts about her
angelman Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 Is it because she speaks with a posh accent? and had a father who was a director at Saints?
bridge too far Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 and had a father who was a director at Saints? She was born in Kingsclere, near Winchester
