"I saw a video of the recent history of Southampton since the takeover, which showed me the great supporters when the club was promoted last season.

"I want to show them what I can do as soon as possible and hopefully impress them with my performances."

Pleased to see we're getting value for money from that ropey video we put together for season ticket holders, and I'm glad that our wigs and face paints have impressed this chap.

So now we'll have even more f*cking sappy Japanese tourist-students trying to get into SMS with stupid home made banners.

Yeah, god forbid the club sell more tickets and fill the stadium with people who actually like to have fun.

I was starting to wonder when we would bring a CB in so Welcome Aboard Maya Yoshida to Saints

and Good Luck for the Future whether it being at Saints or somewhere else!!!

Would love to see Fonte dropped for him than Hooiveld as I think that Hooiveld is more reliable at

the back than Fonte tbh But We'l See...!!!

COYR!!! :D

Your sporadic use of capital letters is really rather impressive

A centre back. Brrrrrrap.

If you want my feelings on the transfer, the most vivid I'm feeling right now is.... relaxed.

(But that may be because I've just had one of those really long wees that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.)

So a pacy striker and a centre back this week. We're getting there.

If ManUre had signed him he would be hailed as a genius. This time those bustards didn't beat us to it, it's good to know that Cortese has respect enough around foreign football circles to entice these kids in with little more than a promise of great things to come.

I'm less sure that Rooney would be the right signing for us but Ashley Young might be useful out wide.

Check out this Sunderland thread:

http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=726957

****s.

Yup, its one guy, the rest of the peeps seem sound. Really interesting to see what others think of us. I liked this post...

''They've actually signed;

nathaniel clyne - many predicted he'd be signing for an established prem club when he finally moved from Palace

Steven Davies - a player who is what I'd call a SAFC/villa/Fulham standard player so good move by Saints

Mayuka - top scorer at the African cup of nations for tournament winners Zambia

Yoshida - Japan international centre back

Admittedly jay Rodriguez was a silly fee but I'm sure that was just Southampton making an earlier signal of intent as it was done right at the start of the window.

They've also had a fee agreed for gaston Ramirez a player some of the best clubs in the world were after and very nearly signed buttner but the deal fell through who ended up at man united.

Does that sound like a team who's not trying to stay up and isn't ambitious. Give your head a shake OP you've had a mare!''

When put like that does seem like we have signed well and in smart, not just throwing money around on anyone (yes, qpr and whu, im looking at you).

Sunderland AFC - delusions of grandeur since 1879.

Always respected Sunderland, just one idiot on that thread and one Spurs Troll the rest were very sensible Sunderland fans complimenting us that we had 25K+ attendances in League 1, how loyal we are to stick with the club through thick and thin, and that we've made some very shrewd signings for relatively low fees.

They're fine by me, also love the Stadium of Light, lucky to have gone there in 06/07, amazing stadium.

Plus plenty of other Asian players in top European leagues. In any case it is quite a generalisation to right off a player based on his nationality.

"Write". I'm sure someone else must have picked you up on this by now though, there must be a hell of a queue...

Has Buttner been hailed as a genius? I must have missed that...

Park was carried by Man Utd. He was deployed to run around a lot in big games when Man Utd knew they wouldn't have all the possession like normal. Interesting to see how he fares this season.

Where have I written him off because of his nationality? I was merely asking a question and igniting some debate.

So your point here is "he was crap so they only picked him for the big games"?

This somewhat differs from Ferguson's usual policy of selling crap players to ex-Man U players who are now managers.

CB is certainly a step in the right direction. This chap is unproven though - and young. I am still concerned about our lack of Premier League experience in our side. So, I can't believe that we're not looking to bring in someone like Berbatov, who seems to be about to go for a song to Fulham!

NC's strategy is emerging for new ownership - buy in Asian talent and change your strip to lucky Far Eastern red! I suspect our new owners may well be from the Far East. Possibly good news, seeing as that's where the money is for the next 30 years! :)

Did I say he was crap? I said he was carried by players of greater ability during his time at Man Utd, much like; Brown, O'Shea, P. Neville, Gibson and you'll be able to add Cleverly to that list in a few years time. Park was deployed in their big games to press the opposition - that is a 100% fact. Will be interesting to see how he get's on when he's one of the key men with a team relying on him to help drive them on. Personally I don't think he's up to that but served a purpose for Man Utd.

He already speaks English so fluently that he used it rather than Dutch when at VVV...

Might be him helping Tadanari Lee rather than the other way round! :D

Very pleased about that, the potential communication problem was my main reservation about signing him. Even better if it helps us get the best out of Lee.

A song to this great tune would be brilliant.

Turning Japanese by the Vapors - top 10 hit in the early 80s.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEmJ-VWPDM4

It works for both our Japanese players and is an easy song!

The chorus is at about 1.10 in the vid: "I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so..."

(Mind you, the song is meant to be about masturbation!)

If they've signed him to fulfil a completely different role then I would assume he would not be as successful. The fact Ferguson's sold him is pretty much all the red flag that anyone needs to know not to sign someone. He doesn't often get them wrong - but then I suppose the chance of a player signing for someone else who is as successful elsewhere is pretty low... Tevez maybe ? Stam ? Beckham ?
