RonManager Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 There were a couple of whispers a few days ago about our possibly being interested in this guy. He is Japan's captain and is a goal scoring CB. He has been on RonWatch over the last 2 games in the Olympics and I can report that he looks very solid, is fast, nimble, has good distribution and a big gob on him. He has marshalled the Japanese defence to great effect in the tournament so far. He scored a cracking goal today, a difficult glancing header and is also responsible for last season's goal of the season for VVV Venlo. Ron's verdict - HAI!
Crab Lungs Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Ron's verdict - HAI! Haha, quality Looks a decent player... out of interest, I wonder how tall he is...
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Haha, quality Looks a decent player... out of interest, I wonder how tall he is... 6ft 2in according to Wiki.
ericofarabia Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 6ft 2in according to Wiki. Aha .... that'll be 5ft 14ins in OS measurements then!!
itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Aha .... that'll be 5ft 14ins in OS measurements then!!
Johnny Shearer Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Yes please! Seconded. This will bring more lovely Japanese girls to St Marys indeed!
SuperMikey Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 This Charming Man will spit acid at his monitor when he sees this thread. On topic, he's been one of the stand-out players in this Olympic tournament so I should imagine there will be other clubs after him too, and his price will be driven up by his good performances. Still, he does look very good and would be a great signing imo.
Toadhall Saint Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Looks good on first look - does the simple things simply - seems to like to play it out short but can pick a pass when needed - well worth a bud I would have thought.
Saint_Rick Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Seconded. This will bring more lovely Japanese girls to St Marys indeed! here here!

Deano6 Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 I like this thread. Can we have more players on RonWatch please?
Golac's Iron Gonads Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 He looks like a Japanese version John Terry.

itchen_dan Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 The VVV Venlo chairman has confirmed that Yoshida was on Villa's radar before they signed Ron Vlaar so obviously must be rated highly enough to be scouted by Villa. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11677/7962550/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Saint Martini Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 Never been too impressed with him in the matches I've seen him play for VVV against Ajax. But that's a very small sample size in matches between one of the worst teams in the Dutch league against the best. He is fast and decent in the air but his marking and positioning is a bit average from the matches I've seen.
PhilippineSaint Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 I like this thread. Can we have more players on RonWatch please? Can we have Alpine on suicide watch if we lose the first game to Man City Please

From the YouTube compilation above his positioning and marking seem to be pretty good actually, although obviously it's a YouTube video so we can't take it as gospel!
Badger Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 He looks like a Japanese version John Terry. See what you mean. Best not sign him. Don't want divisions in the dressing room - or on the bus - if he tries knobbing Tadanari's Doris.
Wade Garrett Posted 4 August, 2012 Posted 4 August, 2012 He looks like a Japanese version John Terry. I thought that as well. Lock up your wives and give him the number for the Southampton branch of the KKK.

Oh MFG... now we not only have the "better fan that you" brigade but also "have a menial enough life to read, memorise and digest all 101 pages of the HCDAJFU thread so I am better then you" brigade. Jeez!!!!!!! have you guys not got anysort of life??????????

Jeez!!!!!!! have you guys not got anysort of life?????????? Where has anyone said they memorise that page? This is just a pointless thread about one player, no different to the suggestions made in the other thread. Why don't I pick a completely random player I think would be a good signing and make a new thread about him? It's pointless.

A completely useless tome to anyone browsing the forum on an irregular basis. I actually am on here quite frequently, and still have no desire to plough through all of that to find out what players may be mentioned there. I much prefer to see individual threads about potential players, that I can either continue to follow or discard. So I like this thread and others similar to it. I would not have known about this guy without it.

I thought that was a sensible compromise.

Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Adriansfc has posted 261 times on the hcdajfu thread That's probably over 4 hours of his life he'll never get back if you assume a minute a post. There again, how much of your life did you waste researching that fact and how much of mine have I wasted writing this?

PSV Posted 5 August, 2012 Posted 5 August, 2012 Sorry, i really want to keep you up-to-date about the eredivision, but im not willing to pay money for more then 3 posts a day. so i wont be on here a lot . Yoshida is a good player for a team like Southampton, but don't expect to much, because he is not much. I think he would be for good use for Southhampton, but that's his top i think. I wont recommend him for your club though. As i don't think he can handle the big and great players in the PL.

Leslie Charteris Posted 6 August, 2012 Posted 6 August, 2012 Meanwhile, back OT, Yoshida scored on Saturday while captaining Japan and is out again tomorrow against Mexico. I wonder if the back room boys are close by. If there is any truth in the rumour, he could be a very astute purchase, he's only 23 and I don't think he has reached his peak yet.
SuperMikey Posted 8 August, 2012 Posted 8 August, 2012 My mate was at Japan vs Mexico in the Olympics today. I told him before he went to watch out for Yoshida, his first words to me when he came through the door after the game were "Sign him". Apparently he was immense. Also Japan's #7 put in an excellent shift, looked very tidy on the ball, good passing and movement and caused Mexico's defence a lot of trouble. That's Yuki Ohtsu, 21 year old midfielder who plays for Gladbach. He also came very highly recommended by my mate (praise from Caesar!).

Saint Charlie Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 As a second CB buy this guy might be interesting. Hoping for a more prominent one too.
Lighthouse Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 (edited) So we've got Tadanari Lee from Hiroshima and now we're after this bloke from Nagasaki. Any other nuclear Saints out there? maysie Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 But Adkins has already tabled a bid and hopes to land Yoshida, 23, who starred in the London 2012 Olympics, next week. Great editing by the Sun there
doubleonothing Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 “@SimonPeach: #SaintsFC moving for Japan's Maya Yoshida would not surprise me. His name was mentioned to Nigel Adkins, who didn't flinch. I thought 'who?'” “@SimonPeach: I pride myself on my football knowledge but Yoshida a new one on me. Makes sense seeing as #SaintsFC already have a Japanese translator.”
Avenue Saint Posted 23 August, 2012 Posted 23 August, 2012 This guy looks quality and relatively young too.
John Boy Saint Posted 24 August, 2012 Posted 24 August, 2012 Big bit of Strapping round his right knee in that Sun article.

Great editing by the Sun there Nothing wrong with that, he played in the Olympics and Adkins wants to sign him next week. You're reading it incorrectly.
